Interlock® Aluminum Roofing — all-climates performance specs for Nemah, Washington
| Spec / Rating | Climate / Risk Factor + What It Solves |
|---|---|
| Wind resistance: 120+ mph (193+ kph) | Extreme wind, hurricanes, storm uplift: full interlocking attachment helps prevent blow-offs, edge lifting, and panel loss in high-gust events. |
| Fire rating: Class A (with proper assembly) | Wildfire, embers, radiant heat, chimney sparks: non-combustible roof assembly provides the highest residential fire protection rating. |
| Hail resistance: UL 2218 Class 4 | Hail and impact debris: highest impact classification; resists cracking, splitting, and surface loss common with asphalt under hail strikes. |
| Snow & ice performance: interlocking, shedding profile | Heavy snow, freeze-thaw, ice dams: smooth aluminum sheds snow efficiently and the interlocking design helps block water intrusion when melt-refreeze cycles occur. (Final snow-load capacity depends on roof structure and local code.) |
| Corrosion resistance: aluminum (won’t rust) | Salt air, coastal humidity, wet climates: aluminum naturally resists rust and corrosion, reducing long-term failure risk in marine or high-moisture environments. |
| Heat / UV durability: baked-on coating system | High heat, intense sun, thermal cycling: coatings resist UV breakdown and temperature-swing fatigue, slowing fading and surface degradation. |
| Moss / algae resistance: smooth coated surface | Wet shade, organic growth: low-porosity metal surface gives moss/algae less to grip, reducing staining and maintenance. |
| Material: heavy-gauge aluminum roof profiles (Slate / Shake / Shingle / Tile / Standing Seam) | All-season structural stability: lightweight, dent-resistant metal system stays stable through large hot-cold swings and severe weather. |
| Expected lifespan: 50+ years | Long-term durability across climates: avoids re-roof cycles typical of shorter-life materials, even in high-stress environments. |
| Warranty: Lifetime-Limited, non-prorated + 50-year transferable | Lifetime protection + resale value: guarantees long-term material confidence and transfers to future owners. |

What our customers are saying:
Prompt service and very knowledgeable. Highly recommend.
My wife and I wanted a long-term roof and I think we found it. The product seems very good and are installer Daniel was terrific and a trooper put a lot of hours and a lot of time and made it look real nice when it was completed. I would recommend the company if you're looking for a metal roof.
Ivan Excellent will make it right!!
We needed a roof repair when our neighbors tree dropped a large limb through our roof. Ivan came And accessed The damage, Ordered the sheets we needed. He came back and did the whole Repair himself. So happy to have it fixed along with his recommendations to have the roof cleaned. We appreciate his skills in repairing The roof.
The Interlock associate Ivan, came did an awesome service in correcting the part needed to be corrected, he left us with instructions of what we needed to check and to get in touch with, if needed 😀 Ms. May the associate answering the phone was helpful for us to get prompt service. They are dependable. We received roof service.
The work was efficient and well done. The service, the people and team were great. Beautiful roof.
I highly appreciate the professionalism, workmanship and the quality of materials used. I don't doubt that it will be our forever roof and will not need to worry about replacement during the life of our house. Ross, Tony, Roma were all great throughout the new roof installation process.
We noticed water spots on the ceiling. Ivan came, found a hole likely caused by a branch in the recent wind storm. He repaired the hole on the spot. Thank you Ivan!
Ivan replaced our exhaust vent on the roof that had some leaking issue. We were impressed with his professionalism, courtesy and fixing the problem to our utmost satisfaction. We certainly would recommend him and the company for any roofing issues being it a new roof or repairs.
We recently had our roof replaced with interlock aluminum shingles and we love how it made our house stand out in our neighborhood. I would have given 5 stars but there were few things that I wanted to point out. Ross arrived on time and did an excellent presentation. I specifically asked him if their installers are contractors and his answer was no, they are employees of interlock. Turns out they are contractors which is no big deal as long as they do excellent work, it’s all about honesty. Prior to installation, the installers told me that it would take about two and a half days to finish which is great, I said no rush. The installation process took two weeks, I hope everything will go well this coming rainy season. The only thing I didn’t like was at the end of the day they leave their tools in the driveway just laying around and the worst they leave their microwave plugged into the outlet with damaged power cord. But with all things said, we love our new roof and only time will tell if it was worth the price.
Excellent contact and coordination with field representatives and installers/project manager.
We recently had our roof replaced with aluminum shingles and are very satisfied so far. - Easy Sales Process – Thank you Ross for making everything clear and straightforward from the start. - Great Value – The price was very reasonable compared to other estimates. - Better Than Expected – The finished look exceeded our expectations and really improved the appearance of our home. It’s not as glossy as we feared, which we like. - Fast & Efficient – The crew worked quickly and finished everything in just 2 days for our ~1,000 sq. ft. house with two layers of old shingles. - No Issues – No noise at all, despite common concerns about metal roofs. Tip for others: Ask for the exact model and size of vents that will be installed before the project starts. Our vents were only a few months old but couldn’t be reused, and the ones the company brought were the wrong size. The crew had to buy replacements last minute, which worked but don’t perfectly match.

Metal Roofing FAQs for Homeowners in Nemah
The following metal roofing FAQs are designed specifically for homeowners in Nemah, Washington. Whether you are building a new home or replacing an existing roof, understanding how roofing materials perform in local weather conditions is essential. From wind and storm protection to fire resistance, hail impact, snow loads, and coastal moisture exposure, Interlock’s Lifetime Aluminum Roofing System is engineered to provide long-term durability, energy efficiency, and peace of mind in Nemah.
How does a metal roof handle heavy snow in Nemah's climate?
Metal roofs shed snow better than asphalt because the smooth, slick surface resists ice dam formation—critical when Nemah gets about 52 cm of snow annually plus 11 freeze-thaw days per year. Interlock's four-way interlocking panels are warrantied to 120 mph wind, so snow load shifts easily without compromising the seal. Optional snow guards let you control where snow exits, preventing it from sliding onto walkways or vehicles below.
Will a metal roof rust if I live near the coast or in wet climates?
No—aluminum cannot rust because it contains no iron. Instead, it forms a self-healing oxide layer that protects even if scratched. Nemah's 2211 mm of annual rain and Pacific County's moisture-heavy conditions make this critical: unlike steel roofs, aluminum shrugs off wet climates. Interlock uses roofing-grade 3105-H24 aluminum with a 30-year Alunar® PVDF coating on both sides, giving saltair-proven durability from coastal homes to Antarctic research stations.
Can a metal roof leak where panels overlap or at the seams?
Interlock's four-way interlocking panels create a labyrinth that channels Nemah's heavy rainfall (2211 mm annually) safely to the gutter—water cannot work backward through the seams. Each panel locks into the next on all four sides, eliminating the nail holes and exposed fasteners where asphalt shingles leak. When installed over solid decking with underlayment, the system is watertight.
Do metal roofs really cut cooling costs, or is that just marketing?
energy-efficient Interlock colors reflect solar heat rather than absorbing it, lowering cooling demand—especially valuable since Nemah gets about 2892 sunshine hours per year. The Aged Copper Penny finish has a thermal emissivity of 0.84 and initial solar reflectance up to 0.55, deflecting heat that dark asphalt absorbs and re-radiates into your attic. You'll see the biggest gains on south- and west-facing roofs in summer.
Can my existing roof structure support a metal roof, or do I need reinforcement?
Most homes need zero structural work. Interlock's Slate profile installs at just 0.41 lb/sq ft—the Mediterranean Tile, which replicates heavy clay at 0.59 lb/sq ft, is about 96% lighter than the real thing. Your roof frame already carries snow load (52 cm annually in Nemah) and wind gusts to 122 km/h; a metal roof weighs a fraction of that. Interlock can install directly over most existing roofs, saving tear-off costs.
Does hail damage metal roofs, and can I get an insurance discount?
Interlock carries the highest impact rating available—UL 2218 Class 4—and the Guardian Warranty even covers perforation from hailstones up to 1.5 inches. Many insurers recognize this non-combustible aluminum as low-risk and offer premium reductions. File a claim and share your UL 2218 rating with your agent; the durability pays for itself through lower premiums over time.
What warranty comes with a metal roof, and does it transfer if I sell?
The Guardian Warranty is lifetime limited, non-prorated for the original owner—covering rusting, rotting, cracking, curling, and loss of impact resistance. It transfers once to the next owner for a 50-year term from completion, adding substantial resale appeal. Compare that to asphalt (15–20 years) or wood shake (20–30 years): you're buying one final roof, then handing your buyer decades of protection.
Can I get a metal roof that looks like cedar shake or slate, not just 'metal'?
Yes—Interlock offers five profiles: Slate, Cedar Shingle, Shake, Standing Seam, and Mediterranean Tile. Each replicates traditional materials while delivering aluminum's rust-proof durability and 30-year coating warranty. Choose the aesthetic that fits your home; the four-way interlocking system and lightweight aluminum (0.58 lb/sq ft for Shake) deliver the same performance regardless of profile.
How long does a metal roof installation take, and can you install over my old roof?
Most residential installs complete in 2–5 days depending on roof size and complexity. Yes, Interlock installs over most existing asphalt or wood roofs—no tear-off required, saving time and landfill waste. Your local installer, Interlock Metal Roofing (PNW) Inc., has served the region since 1997 and can assess your roof on-site. Current financing includes no payments and no interest until Spring 2027, or 10% off installation.
Are metal roofs actually better for the environment than asphalt?
Interlock aluminum is about 95% recyclable and never enters a landfill—when your roof reaches end-of-life (well beyond your ownership), it becomes scrap value. Asphalt shingles, by contrast, tear off every 15–20 years and go straight to landfills; over a century, you'd replace asphalt five times, each time hauling tons to waste. Nemah's 2211 mm annual rain and 11 freeze-thaw cycles accelerate asphalt failure; metal outlasts that cycle entirely, eliminating the tear-off-to-landfill pattern.
