Review: October 14, 2025

We recently had our roof replaced with interlock aluminum shingles and we love how it made our house stand out in our neighborhood. I would have given 5 stars but there were few things that I wanted to point out. Ross arrived on time and did an excellent presentation. I specifically asked him if their installers are contractors and his answer was no, they are employees of interlock. Turns out they are contractors which is no big deal as long as they do excellent work, it’s all about honesty. Prior to installation, the installers told me that it would take about two and a half days to finish which is great, I said no rush. The installation process took two weeks, I hope everything will go well this coming rainy season. The only thing I didn’t like was at the end of the day they leave their tools in the driveway just laying around and the worst they leave their microwave plugged into the outlet with damaged power cord. But with all things said, we love our new roof and only time will tell if it was worth the price.

Review: August 23, 2025

We recently had our roof replaced with aluminum shingles and are very satisfied so far. - Easy Sales Process – Thank you Ross for making everything clear and straightforward from the start. - Great Value – The price was very reasonable compared to other estimates. - Better Than Expected – The finished look exceeded our expectations and really improved the appearance of our home. It’s not as glossy as we feared, which we like. - Fast & Efficient – The crew worked quickly and finished everything in just 2 days for our ~1,000 sq. ft. house with two layers of old shingles. - No Issues – No noise at all, despite common concerns about metal roofs. Tip for others: Ask for the exact model and size of vents that will be installed before the project starts. Our vents were only a few months old but couldn’t be reused, and the ones the company brought were the wrong size. The crew had to buy replacements last minute, which worked but don’t perfectly match.

Metal Roofing FAQs for Homeowners in Holcomb

The following metal roofing FAQs are designed specifically for homeowners in Holcomb, Washington. Whether you are building a new home or replacing an existing roof, understanding how roofing materials perform in local weather conditions is essential. From wind and storm protection to fire resistance, hail impact, snow loads, and coastal moisture exposure, Interlock’s Lifetime Aluminum Roofing System is engineered to provide long-term durability, energy efficiency, and peace of mind in Holcomb.

How does a metal roof handle Holcomb's heavy snow and freeze-thaw cycles?

Aluminum sheds snow reliably because its smooth, hard surface resists ice adhesion far better than asphalt. Holcomb sees about 49 cm of snow annually and roughly 34 freeze-thaw days per year—conditions that weaken and crack asphalt shingles over time. Interlock panels' four-way interlocking design locks each piece in place, so snow load doesn't compromise the seal. The lightweight aluminum (Shake profile at 0.58 lb/sq ft) distributes weight evenly without straining your structure, even when snow accumulates. Optional snow guards are available to control slide-off.

Does metal roofing hold up to the Pacific Northwest's 1500+ mm of annual rain?

Yes. Holcomb averages about 1578 mm of rain per year, and Interlock's four-way interlocking aluminum panels are engineered to shed water constantly without pooling. Each panel locks to its neighbors, creating a unified barrier that directs rainfall downslope without gaps. The aluminum alloy (3105-H24 / 3003-H24, ASTM B209) is non-porous and non-absorbent—water cannot penetrate or degrade it. Proper installation over a solid deck with underlayment keeps the interior dry, with no moisture absorption risk that plagues asphalt.

Will a metal roof rust in a wet climate like Holcomb?

Aluminum cannot rust because it contains no iron. Interlock uses roofing-grade aluminum alloy (3105-H24 / 3003-H24) coated on both sides with Alunar 70% PVDF fluorocarbon finish—a 30-year warranted protection against corrosion and fading. When aluminum is scratched, its oxide layer self-heals, sealing the exposed surface automatically. With Holcomb's heavy rainfall (1578 mm annually) and coastal proximity, steel roofing would corrode; aluminum thrives in these conditions. That's why Interlock's product is installed from salt-air homes to Antarctic research stations.

Can hail damage a metal roof, and do insurers offer discounts?

Aluminum's hardness makes it remarkably resistant to hail impact. Interlock carries a UL 2218 Class 4 rating—the highest impact classification available—and the Guardian Warranty covers perforation from hailstones up to 1.5 inches. Homeowners often qualify for insurance premium reductions or hail-damage waivers when upgrading from asphalt to impact-rated metal. Combined with Holcomb's extreme wind gusts (up to 103 km/h, 10-year average) that sometimes accompany storm systems, this rating provides comprehensive protection. Check with your insurer about potential savings; many carriers recognize Class 4 roofing as a loss-prevention upgrade.

How does an aluminum roof perform in Holcomb's wind gusts?

Interlock's four-way interlocking panels are mechanically locked, not nailed loose like shingles, so they resist uplift forces more effectively. The product is warranted to withstand wind speeds up to 120 mph (193 km/h) when installed to specification. Holcomb's typical gusts reach about 103 km/h, well within the roof's rated capacity. This design also prevents the flutter and vibration that weaken asphalt and allow wind-driven rain to penetrate seams. The interlocking geometry distributes wind pressure across all connected panels, not individual fasteners.

What's the real lifespan of a metal roof, and what does the warranty cover?

Interlock's Guardian Warranty is a lifetime limited, non-prorated material warranty for the original owner, covering rusting, rotting, splitting, cracking, curling, and loss of impact resistance. It's also one-time transferable to the next owner for 50 years from completion—a major resale advantage in Holcomb's market. The Alunar coating carries a separate 30-year warranty against chalking and fading (ASTM D4214 / D2244 measured), so color stays true through decades of the region's 2757 annual sunshine hours and wet winters. When properly installed, aluminum roofs routinely last 40–60+ years, outlasting multiple asphalt cycles.

Do I need to reinforce my house for a metal roof?

No structural reinforcement is required. Interlock's Shake profile installs at just 0.58 lb/sq ft—about 96% lighter than concrete or clay tile—so your existing roof framing handles the weight easily. Many homeowners install Interlock directly over an existing asphalt roof, eliminating tear-off costs and labor. The lightweight aluminum distributes evenly, even under Holcomb's 49 cm average annual snowfall, without imposing new loads. Compare this to slate or tile, which demand structural upgrades: aluminum gives you the same aesthetic without engineering costs or downtime.

How much maintenance does a metal roof need?

Interlock aluminum requires far less maintenance than asphalt, wood, or tile. With no wood to rot or absorb Holcomb's 1578 mm of annual rain, and no asphalt to blister and curl under 34 freeze-thaw cycles, you mainly rinse debris twice yearly. The aluminum alloy never requires replacement of individual shingles or repairs from impact. The Alunar coating (warranted 30 years against fading) resists UV degradation across the region's 2757 sunshine hours. Asphalt needs patching every few years; tile cracks in freeze-thaw; wood splits—metal simply sheds weather and lasts. Most owners report zero interior maintenance calls.

Can a metal roof look like traditional slate or cedar shake?

Yes. Interlock offers five profiles—Slate, Cedar Shingle, Shake, Standing Seam, and Mediterranean Tile—so you choose the look that suits your home's architecture. Each profile uses the same durable roofing-grade aluminum (3105-H24 / 3003-H24 alloy) and Alunar 70% PVDF coating, so aesthetic choice doesn't trade away durability. All profiles lock four-way, resist 120 mph winds, and carry the lifetime Guardian Warranty. Holcomb's varied architecture—from historic to contemporary—benefits from this range. Color options include energy-efficient reflective finishes that reduce cooling load in the region's rare warm months.

Is a metal roof worth the upfront cost over asphalt?

Over the roof's full life, aluminum is far cheaper than asphalt because you buy it once. Asphalt roofs need replacement every 15–20 years in Holcomb's wet, freeze-thaw climate (34 freeze-thaw days annually). Metal lasts 40–60+ years or more, so you install one aluminum roof and asphalt roofs are replaced twice or three times over. Add tear-off labor ($1,500–$3,000 per cycle), insurance savings from UL 2218 Class 4 impact rating, and the transferable 50-year warranty that adds resale value—the total cost per year of service drops significantly. Current promotion: no payments and no interest until Spring 2027, or 10% off installation.
