Interlock® Aluminum Roofing — all-climates performance specs for Sutico, Washington
| Spec / Rating | Climate / Risk Factor + What It Solves |
|---|---|
| Wind resistance: 120+ mph (193+ kph) | Extreme wind, hurricanes, storm uplift: full interlocking attachment helps prevent blow-offs, edge lifting, and panel loss in high-gust events. |
| Fire rating: Class A (with proper assembly) | Wildfire, embers, radiant heat, chimney sparks: non-combustible roof assembly provides the highest residential fire protection rating. |
| Hail resistance: UL 2218 Class 4 | Hail and impact debris: highest impact classification; resists cracking, splitting, and surface loss common with asphalt under hail strikes. |
| Snow & ice performance: interlocking, shedding profile | Heavy snow, freeze-thaw, ice dams: smooth aluminum sheds snow efficiently and the interlocking design helps block water intrusion when melt-refreeze cycles occur. (Final snow-load capacity depends on roof structure and local code.) |
| Corrosion resistance: aluminum (won’t rust) | Salt air, coastal humidity, wet climates: aluminum naturally resists rust and corrosion, reducing long-term failure risk in marine or high-moisture environments. |
| Heat / UV durability: baked-on coating system | High heat, intense sun, thermal cycling: coatings resist UV breakdown and temperature-swing fatigue, slowing fading and surface degradation. |
| Moss / algae resistance: smooth coated surface | Wet shade, organic growth: low-porosity metal surface gives moss/algae less to grip, reducing staining and maintenance. |
| Material: heavy-gauge aluminum roof profiles (Slate / Shake / Shingle / Tile / Standing Seam) | All-season structural stability: lightweight, dent-resistant metal system stays stable through large hot-cold swings and severe weather. |
| Expected lifespan: 50+ years | Long-term durability across climates: avoids re-roof cycles typical of shorter-life materials, even in high-stress environments. |
| Warranty: Lifetime-Limited, non-prorated + 50-year transferable | Lifetime protection + resale value: guarantees long-term material confidence and transfers to future owners. |

What our customers are saying:
Prompt service and very knowledgeable. Highly recommend.
My wife and I wanted a long-term roof and I think we found it. The product seems very good and are installer Daniel was terrific and a trooper put a lot of hours and a lot of time and made it look real nice when it was completed. I would recommend the company if you're looking for a metal roof.
Ivan Excellent will make it right!!
We needed a roof repair when our neighbors tree dropped a large limb through our roof. Ivan came And accessed The damage, Ordered the sheets we needed. He came back and did the whole Repair himself. So happy to have it fixed along with his recommendations to have the roof cleaned. We appreciate his skills in repairing The roof.
The Interlock associate Ivan, came did an awesome service in correcting the part needed to be corrected, he left us with instructions of what we needed to check and to get in touch with, if needed 😀 Ms. May the associate answering the phone was helpful for us to get prompt service. They are dependable. We received roof service.
The work was efficient and well done. The service, the people and team were great. Beautiful roof.
I highly appreciate the professionalism, workmanship and the quality of materials used. I don't doubt that it will be our forever roof and will not need to worry about replacement during the life of our house. Ross, Tony, Roma were all great throughout the new roof installation process.
We noticed water spots on the ceiling. Ivan came, found a hole likely caused by a branch in the recent wind storm. He repaired the hole on the spot. Thank you Ivan!
Ivan replaced our exhaust vent on the roof that had some leaking issue. We were impressed with his professionalism, courtesy and fixing the problem to our utmost satisfaction. We certainly would recommend him and the company for any roofing issues being it a new roof or repairs.
We recently had our roof replaced with interlock aluminum shingles and we love how it made our house stand out in our neighborhood. I would have given 5 stars but there were few things that I wanted to point out. Ross arrived on time and did an excellent presentation. I specifically asked him if their installers are contractors and his answer was no, they are employees of interlock. Turns out they are contractors which is no big deal as long as they do excellent work, it’s all about honesty. Prior to installation, the installers told me that it would take about two and a half days to finish which is great, I said no rush. The installation process took two weeks, I hope everything will go well this coming rainy season. The only thing I didn’t like was at the end of the day they leave their tools in the driveway just laying around and the worst they leave their microwave plugged into the outlet with damaged power cord. But with all things said, we love our new roof and only time will tell if it was worth the price.
Excellent contact and coordination with field representatives and installers/project manager.
We recently had our roof replaced with aluminum shingles and are very satisfied so far. - Easy Sales Process – Thank you Ross for making everything clear and straightforward from the start. - Great Value – The price was very reasonable compared to other estimates. - Better Than Expected – The finished look exceeded our expectations and really improved the appearance of our home. It’s not as glossy as we feared, which we like. - Fast & Efficient – The crew worked quickly and finished everything in just 2 days for our ~1,000 sq. ft. house with two layers of old shingles. - No Issues – No noise at all, despite common concerns about metal roofs. Tip for others: Ask for the exact model and size of vents that will be installed before the project starts. Our vents were only a few months old but couldn’t be reused, and the ones the company brought were the wrong size. The crew had to buy replacements last minute, which worked but don’t perfectly match.

Metal Roofing FAQs for Homeowners in Sutico
The following metal roofing FAQs are designed specifically for homeowners in Sutico, Washington. Whether you are building a new home or replacing an existing roof, understanding how roofing materials perform in local weather conditions is essential. From wind and storm protection to fire resistance, hail impact, snow loads, and coastal moisture exposure, Interlock’s Lifetime Aluminum Roofing System is engineered to provide long-term durability, energy efficiency, and peace of mind in Sutico.
How does a metal roof handle Sutico's heavy snow and freeze-thaw cycles?
Metal roofs shed snow naturally because aluminum is smooth and non-porous—ice and snow don't bond to it like they do to asphalt. Sutico's typical 49 cm of annual snowfall and about 34 freeze-thaw days create ideal conditions for ice-dam formation on conventional roofs, but Interlock's four-way interlocking panels and smooth surface eliminate that risk. The lightweight construction (Slate at just 0.41 lb/sq ft) means no snow load concerns, and you can add optional snow guards wherever you need them. Your roof simply stays clearer, longer.
Will a metal roof leak in the heavy Pacific County rainfall?
No. Sutico receives approximately 1578 mm of rain per year, and Interlock's four-way interlocking aluminum panels are engineered to shed water immediately—the overlap design and slope work together to prevent any water penetration. The ICC-ES ESR-1790 evaluation confirms code compliance for water resistance in heavy-rain climates. Metal roofs have zero porosity, so water can't absorb into the material itself. When installed properly by a qualified contractor over solid decking with appropriate underlayment, they outperform asphalt roofs that gradually absorb moisture and deteriorate over time.
Can a metal roof rust in a wet climate like Sutico?
Steel rusts because iron oxidizes when exposed to water; aluminum does not. Interlock panels are made from 3105-H24 and 3003-H24 aluminum alloy (ASTM B209), which contains zero iron and therefore cannot rust, no matter how wet Pacific County gets. The aluminum forms a microscopic oxide layer that actually self-heals when scratched—a property steel cannot replicate. Add Interlock's Alunar® 70% PVDF fluorocarbon finish (applied to both sides) with a 30-year coating warranty, and your roof is protected against the salt-tinged air and constant moisture of the Pacific Northwest. You're buying permanent corrosion immunity.
Do I need to reinforce my home's frame for a metal roof?
No structural reinforcement is required. The Interlock Shake profile weighs only 0.58 lb/sq ft, and the Mediterranean Tile—which visually replicates heavy clay or concrete tile—weighs just 0.59 lb/sq ft. That's approximately 96% lighter than real tile, so it installs over most existing roof structures without modification. This is especially valuable in Sutico, where you can often install directly over your current asphalt roof, saving thousands in tearoff and disposal costs. Lighter loads also mean less stress on your home during the 103 km/h wind gusts the region experiences.
Will my metal roof hold up to Sutico's winter gusts?
Yes. Interlock's four-way interlocking panels are warranted to resist wind speeds up to 120 mph (193 km/h)—far exceeding Sutico's typical gusts of about 103 km/h. The interlocking design means each panel is mechanically fastened to its neighbors, distributing wind load across the entire roof rather than stressing individual fasteners. This redundancy is why Interlock panels stay secure where traditional shingles lift and peel. Combined with expert installation from your local contractor, you'll have complete peace of mind during the region's windiest seasons.
Does a metal roof protect against hail damage? Will my insurance rate drop?
Interlock achieves UL 2218 Class 4—the highest impact rating available—and the warranty covers perforation from hailstones up to 1.5 inches. While Sutico's climate data doesn't indicate frequent hail, this durability rating often qualifies homeowners for insurance premium reductions; contact your agent with the UL 2218 Class 4 certification to ask about discounts. Even without hail, the impact resistance means your roof won't dent, crack, or lose functionality from falling branches, debris from 15 km/h average winds, or contractor foot traffic during maintenance—something asphalt and tile cannot claim.
How long will an Interlock metal roof really last, and what does the warranty cover?
The Guardian Warranty is a lifetime limited, non-prorated material warranty for you as the original owner, covering rusting, rotting, splitting, cracking, curling, and loss of impact resistance. It's also transferable once—the next owner receives 50 years of coverage from completion, giving the roof genuine multi-generational value. Given Sutico's 2757 annual sunshine hours and 1578 mm of rain, you're looking at a roof that outlasts every asphalt replacement cycle. Most homeowners install once and never think about their roof again—or hand a half-century-protected asset to their buyer.
Is a metal roof fire-safe?
Class A fire ratings are available on Interlock profiles. Aluminum is non-combustible—it will not burn, spread flame, or release smoke in a fire. Your home's code compliance is verified under ICC-ES ESR-1790 (current 2025 reissue for IBC/IRC), and CALGreen sustainability standards are met. In a region where winter storms and seasonal wind can increase wildfire risk across the Pacific Northwest, a non-combustible roof eliminates one major vulnerability. You're not just protecting your home; you're reducing insurance exposure and giving yourself genuine peace of mind during fire season.
How much maintenance does a metal roof need compared to asphalt or wood?
Virtually none. Asphalt shingles require regular inspection, algae treatment, and eventual tear-off; wood shakes demand staining, moss removal, and frequent repairs in Sutico's 1578 mm annual rainfall. Metal requires no coating, no sealing, and no seasonal cleaning. The Alunar® finish is warranted 30 years against chalking and fading (ASTM D4214/D2244), so color stays true. With about 2757 sunshine hours yearly and consistent moisture, your roof simply sheds debris and water on its own. CALGreen-verified for reduced maintenance means lower long-term costs and zero environmental waste from treatments.
Is a metal roof worth the upfront cost over the lifetime of my home?
When you calculate the total cost of ownership—asphalt replacement every 15-20 years versus a one-time Interlock installation—metal wins decisively. Asphalt incurs repeated tear-off fees, disposal costs, and labor over decades; metal has no recycling burden and often installs over your existing roof, eliminating tearoff entirely. Add the Guardian Warranty (lifetime for you, 50 years transferable), zero maintenance, wind resistance up to 120 mph, and the potential for insurance discounts on Class 4 hail protection, and you've purchased the last roof your home will need. Sutico's 34 annual freeze-thaw cycles accelerate asphalt failure; metal thrives in those conditions. Current financing offers no payments and no interest until Spring 2027 or 10% off installation—making this the right time to calculate your true savings.
