Review: October 14, 2025

We recently had our roof replaced with interlock aluminum shingles and we love how it made our house stand out in our neighborhood. I would have given 5 stars but there were few things that I wanted to point out. Ross arrived on time and did an excellent presentation. I specifically asked him if their installers are contractors and his answer was no, they are employees of interlock. Turns out they are contractors which is no big deal as long as they do excellent work, it’s all about honesty. Prior to installation, the installers told me that it would take about two and a half days to finish which is great, I said no rush. The installation process took two weeks, I hope everything will go well this coming rainy season. The only thing I didn’t like was at the end of the day they leave their tools in the driveway just laying around and the worst they leave their microwave plugged into the outlet with damaged power cord. But with all things said, we love our new roof and only time will tell if it was worth the price.

Review: August 23, 2025

We recently had our roof replaced with aluminum shingles and are very satisfied so far. - Easy Sales Process – Thank you Ross for making everything clear and straightforward from the start. - Great Value – The price was very reasonable compared to other estimates. - Better Than Expected – The finished look exceeded our expectations and really improved the appearance of our home. It’s not as glossy as we feared, which we like. - Fast & Efficient – The crew worked quickly and finished everything in just 2 days for our ~1,000 sq. ft. house with two layers of old shingles. - No Issues – No noise at all, despite common concerns about metal roofs. Tip for others: Ask for the exact model and size of vents that will be installed before the project starts. Our vents were only a few months old but couldn’t be reused, and the ones the company brought were the wrong size. The crew had to buy replacements last minute, which worked but don’t perfectly match.

Metal Roofing FAQs for Homeowners in Frances

The following metal roofing FAQs are designed specifically for homeowners in Frances, Washington. Whether you are building a new home or replacing an existing roof, understanding how roofing materials perform in local weather conditions is essential. From wind and storm protection to fire resistance, hail impact, snow loads, and coastal moisture exposure, Interlock’s Lifetime Aluminum Roofing System is engineered to provide long-term durability, energy efficiency, and peace of mind in Frances.

How does a metal roof handle Frances' snow and freeze-thaw cycles?

Aluminum's smooth, hard surface sheds snow naturally without the ice damming that traps water under asphalt shingles—critical in a climate that averages about 49 cm of snow and 34 freeze-thaw days yearly. The four-way interlocking panels are warranted to 120 mph wind, so they hold tight when snow slides. Unlike slate or wood that absorbs moisture and splits during thaw cycles, aluminum has zero porosity; it won't absorb the 1578 mm of rain Frances gets annually and then crack when frozen. Snow guards are available if you want to control shedding on lower roofs.

Will a metal roof keep my house dry in Pacific County's heavy rainfall?

Yes—the interlocking seams are mechanically fastened on both sides of each panel, and water runs off aluminum rather than pooling the way it does under asphalt shingles. Frances receives roughly 1578 mm of rain per year, so the roof must shed water immediately; the four-way interlocking design guarantees it. When installed over a solid deck with underlayment (code-required), the system works identically to asphalt in heavy rain—the metal simply moves water faster and more reliably. There's no absorption, no wood rot risk, and no degradation from the acid rain that affects other materials over decades.

Can a metal roof stand up to Frances' wind gusts?

Absolutely. Frances experiences typical daily winds around 15 km/h with gusts reaching 103 km/h; Interlock's four-way interlocking aluminum panels are warranted to resist wind speeds up to 120 mph (193 km/h) when installed to specification. The panels lock on all four sides—top, bottom, left, and right—so wind pressure cannot lift or separate them. This mechanical grip is why the Guardian warranty covers wind damage. Asphalt shingles, by comparison, rely on adhesive that degrades in UV and moisture; after five years in a maritime climate, that adhesive fails.

Does hail damage metal roofs, and can I get an insurance discount?

Most homeowners don't realize hail is a real risk in Frances' maritime climate—the warranty covers perforation from hailstones up to 1.5 inches, which exceeds the UL 2218 Class 4 impact rating (the highest available). Your insurance company sees this durability: aluminum won't dent, crack, or split the way asphalt, wood, and ceramic tile do. Many insurers offer premium discounts for Class 4 roofs because claims are rare. After a storm, you won't have the granule loss and leaks that asphalt develops within months; your roof simply keeps working. Check with your agent—the savings can offset the installation cost difference in five to seven years.

Why won't an aluminum roof rust in Frances' damp, rainy climate?

Aluminum is chemically incapable of rusting because rusting requires iron—and there's no iron in roofing-grade 3105-H24 or 3003-H24 aluminum alloy (ASTM B209). Instead, aluminum develops a microscopically thin oxide layer that forms instantly when the metal is exposed to air and actually heals itself when scratched. The Alunar 70% PVDF fluorocarbon finish, applied to both sides of every panel and warranted 30 years against chalking, adds another layer of UV and salt-air protection. In Frances' 1578 mm of annual rain and coastal moisture, this means zero rust stains, zero corrosion, and zero oxide jacking—issues that plague steel roofs and destroy wood shakes.

Is a metal roof worth the upfront cost compared to asphalt shingles?

Think in decades, not years. Asphalt shingles cost $4,000–$8,000 installed and last 15–20 years in Frances' wet climate; you'll replace them 2–3 times in 50 years, spending $12,000–$24,000 total plus labor and disruption. Interlock's Guardian warranty is lifetime limited for the original owner and transferable for 50 years after installation, covering rusting, rotting, splitting, cracking, curling, and impact loss. The light weight (about 0.41 lb/sq ft for the Shingle profile) means no structural reinforcement costs. Current promotion: no payments and no interest until Spring 2027 or 10% off installation. Aluminum also ends the landfill cycle—it's roughly 95% recyclable when replaced.

What does Interlock's lifetime warranty actually cover, and how long does the roof last?

The Guardian warranty is non-prorated material for the original owner—covers rusting, rotting, splitting, cracking, curling, loss of impact resistance, and perforation from hail up to 1.5 inches. It transfers once to the next owner for 50 years from completion, adding serious resale appeal. No annual inspections, no UV degradation clauses, no fine print exclusions for normal weather. Aluminum roofs manufactured since 1998 in Delta, BC have been installed on Antarctic research stations and coastal salt-air homes with zero rust failures. Frances' climate of 1578 mm rain and 49 cm snow annually is moderate by comparison, so the product life typically extends 40–50+ years with zero maintenance.

Will I need to reinforce my roof structure to support a metal roof?

No. Interlock's Mediterranean Tile profile weighs about 0.59 lb/sq ft—roughly 96% lighter than concrete or clay tile—so it installs over most existing roofs without structural reinforcement. The Shake profile is about 0.58 lb/sq ft and the Shingle about 0.41 lb/sq ft. Because aluminum is so light, you can install Interlock directly over old asphalt shingles, wood shake, or slate without engineering work or cost. This matters in Frances, where old houses often have modest framing. Heavy tile or slate requires expensive sistering and bolting; aluminum simply goes on and performs identically in wind gusts up to 103 km/h and 2757 hours of annual sunshine that could degrade asphalt.

Can I get a metal roof that actually looks like slate, cedar shake, or tile?

Yes—Interlock offers five distinct profiles: Slate, Cedar Shingle, Shake, Standing Seam, and Mediterranean Tile. Each uses the same four-way interlocking aluminum construction and ICC-ES ESR-1790 code approval, but the visual profile replicates high-end materials. The profiles all carry the same durability: UL 2218 Class 4 impact rating, 30-year coating warranty on the Alunar finish, and 120 mph wind resistance. Choose based on the aesthetic you want for your home and Frances' architectural character—the structural performance and warranty don't change. The profiles install identically, weigh nearly the same, and reflect heat equally to reduce cooling demand across the 2757 annual sunshine hours.

Is there a local installer for metal roofing in Frances?

Yes. Interlock Metal Roofing (PNW) Inc. has served the region since 1997 and knows Pacific County's climate intimately—1578 mm rain, 49 cm snow, gusts to 103 km/h, and 34 freeze-thaw days require installation that understands ice damming, wind load, and moisture management. The company installs according to the Guardian warranty specifications and ICC-ES ESR-1790 code, ensuring your roof performs as designed. Current offer: no payments and no interest until Spring 2027 or 10% off installation. A local installer familiar with Frances' conditions, your home's age and structure, and regional building codes will catch details a traveling crew misses—and be there if you need service.
