Review: October 14, 2025

We recently had our roof replaced with interlock aluminum shingles and we love how it made our house stand out in our neighborhood. I would have given 5 stars but there were few things that I wanted to point out. Ross arrived on time and did an excellent presentation. I specifically asked him if their installers are contractors and his answer was no, they are employees of interlock. Turns out they are contractors which is no big deal as long as they do excellent work, it’s all about honesty. Prior to installation, the installers told me that it would take about two and a half days to finish which is great, I said no rush. The installation process took two weeks, I hope everything will go well this coming rainy season. The only thing I didn’t like was at the end of the day they leave their tools in the driveway just laying around and the worst they leave their microwave plugged into the outlet with damaged power cord. But with all things said, we love our new roof and only time will tell if it was worth the price.

Review: August 23, 2025

We recently had our roof replaced with aluminum shingles and are very satisfied so far. - Easy Sales Process – Thank you Ross for making everything clear and straightforward from the start. - Great Value – The price was very reasonable compared to other estimates. - Better Than Expected – The finished look exceeded our expectations and really improved the appearance of our home. It’s not as glossy as we feared, which we like. - Fast & Efficient – The crew worked quickly and finished everything in just 2 days for our ~1,000 sq. ft. house with two layers of old shingles. - No Issues – No noise at all, despite common concerns about metal roofs. Tip for others: Ask for the exact model and size of vents that will be installed before the project starts. Our vents were only a few months old but couldn’t be reused, and the ones the company brought were the wrong size. The crew had to buy replacements last minute, which worked but don’t perfectly match.

Metal Roofing FAQs for Homeowners in Elk Creek

The following metal roofing FAQs are designed specifically for homeowners in Elk Creek, Washington. Whether you are building a new home or replacing an existing roof, understanding how roofing materials perform in local weather conditions is essential. From wind and storm protection to fire resistance, hail impact, snow loads, and coastal moisture exposure, Interlock’s Lifetime Aluminum Roofing System is engineered to provide long-term durability, energy efficiency, and peace of mind in Elk Creek.

Does metal roofing handle heavy snow and ice in Elk Creek winters?

Metal roofing sheds snow effectively because its smooth, interlocking surface prevents ice dams that trap water under asphalt shingles. Elk Creek receives about 49 cm of snow annually with roughly 34 freeze-thaw days per year, creating repeated ice-melt cycles that damage traditional roofs. Interlock's four-way interlocking aluminum panels are warranted to 120 mph wind speeds, so they hold fast during the region's typical gusts up to 103 km/h, even when heavy with snow. Snow guards are available if you want to control runoff direction.

Why doesn't aluminum rust like steel roofing, and does that matter in Elk Creek?

Aluminum cannot rust because it contains no iron; instead it forms a self-healing oxide layer that protects the metal when scratched. Pacific County's 1578 mm of annual rainfall and freeze-thaw cycles accelerate corrosion in iron-based metals, but aluminum remains intact. Interlock uses roofing-grade 3105-H24 aluminum alloy (ASTM B209) with a Alunar 70% PVDF fluorocarbon finish applied to both sides, warranted 30 years against fading. This two-sided coating is critical in wet climates where moisture approaches from above and below.

Will hail damage my metal roof, and can I save on homeowners insurance?

Interlock metal roofing carries a UL 2218 Class 4 impact rating—the highest available—and the warranty covers hail perforation up to 1.5 inches. That extreme durability often qualifies homeowners for insurance discounts; contact your agent with the product specs. Elk Creek experiences wind gusts to 103 km/h and heavy rain (1578 mm annually), but hail-driven damage is prevented at the material level, not through thickness or weight. Compare this to asphalt, which fails under the same impacts.

Can a metal roof survive Pacific County wind gusts?

Yes. Interlock's four-way interlocking aluminum panels are warranted to resist wind speeds up to 120 mph (193 km/h) when installed to spec. Elk Creek's typical gust speeds reach 103 km/h, leaving a 90 km/h safety margin. The interlocking design distributes lateral forces across the entire roof rather than relying on fasteners alone, which is why these panels outperform traditional asphalt in high-wind zones. The ICC-ES evaluation report ESR-1790 confirms compliance with current building codes (IBC/IRC).

What's the real lifespan of a metal roof, and what does the warranty cover?

Interlock offers a lifetime limited, non-prorated material warranty for the original owner and a one-time transferable warranty of 50 years from completion for the next owner—a significant resale advantage. The warranty covers rusting, rotting, splitting, cracking, curling, and loss of impact resistance. Because aluminum cannot rust and the Alunar coating is warranted 30 years against chalking and fading, you won't face the roof failures (cupping, missing granules, leaks) that asphalt roofs develop by year 15–20 in Elk Creek's rainy climate.

Do I need to reinforce my house to support a metal roof?

No structural reinforcement is needed. Interlock's Mediterranean Tile profile weighs only 0.59 lb/sq ft—about 96% lighter than concrete or clay tile. Even the heavier Shake profile at 0.58 lb/sq ft is negligible compared to traditional materials. This light weight means the roof can install directly over most existing asphalt or wood-shake roofs without tearing them off or adding structural support, saving thousands in labor and keeping construction waste out of landfills. Elk Creek builders have successfully installed metal roofs over older homes for decades without issues.

How much upkeep does a metal roof require in a rainy climate?

Virtually none. Unlike asphalt shingles, which require moss removal and spot repairs in Elk Creek's 1578 mm annual rainfall, metal roofing sheds water and resists the algae and mold growth that plague organic materials. There are no granules to lose, no valleys to clear, and no wood rot to monitor. The Alunar fluorocarbon finish (warranted 30 years) doesn't require re-coating, and the roof's sealed interlocking seams prevent water intrusion that triggers gutter maintenance in traditional roofs. CALGreen verification confirms reduced maintenance burden versus conventional materials.

Is a metal roof worth the upfront cost over a traditional roof's lifetime?

Yes, when you account for replacement cycles and maintenance. An asphalt roof needs replacement every 15–20 years in Elk Creek's wet climate; a metal roof lasts indefinitely with no repairs. Current promotion: no payments and no interest until Spring 2027, or 10% off installation. Over 50 years, you'll pay for two asphalt reroof jobs (tear-off, labor, haul) plus accumulated maintenance. A single metal installation, with zero maintenance and a lifetime warranty, costs less in total dollars and eliminates the disruption of multiple construction projects.

Is metal roofing fire-safe in areas prone to wildfire or heavy electricity use?

Interlock metal roofing is available in Class A non-combustible aluminum, the highest fire rating available. Aluminum's non-combustible nature means it will not contribute to fire spread even if exposed to radiant heat or direct flame. The ICC-ES evaluation report ESR-1790 (reissued 2025) confirms Class A compliance for IBC/IRC building codes. While Elk Creek's 2757 annual sunshine hours and 49 cm of snow suggest lower wildfire risk than drier regions, a Class A roof is a permanent defense against both wildfire ember intrusion and electrical fires originating in the attic.

Is metal roofing actually better for the environment than asphalt?

Yes, fundamentally. Interlock aluminum roofing is approximately 95% recyclable at end-of-life and can be melted and reused indefinitely without degradation. Traditional asphalt shingles end up in landfills—Elk Creek's 1578 mm annual rainfall and heavy reroofing cycles in similar climates generate tons of waste per community each year. Metal roofing ends that cycle: install once, recycle later, never tear-off again. The energy-efficient colors with 0.84 thermal emissivity also reduce heating demand during Elk Creek's cold months (mean 9.8°C), lowering operational carbon over the roof's life.
