Review: October 14, 2025

We recently had our roof replaced with interlock aluminum shingles and we love how it made our house stand out in our neighborhood. I would have given 5 stars but there were few things that I wanted to point out. Ross arrived on time and did an excellent presentation. I specifically asked him if their installers are contractors and his answer was no, they are employees of interlock. Turns out they are contractors which is no big deal as long as they do excellent work, it’s all about honesty. Prior to installation, the installers told me that it would take about two and a half days to finish which is great, I said no rush. The installation process took two weeks, I hope everything will go well this coming rainy season. The only thing I didn’t like was at the end of the day they leave their tools in the driveway just laying around and the worst they leave their microwave plugged into the outlet with damaged power cord. But with all things said, we love our new roof and only time will tell if it was worth the price.

Review: August 23, 2025

We recently had our roof replaced with aluminum shingles and are very satisfied so far. - Easy Sales Process – Thank you Ross for making everything clear and straightforward from the start. - Great Value – The price was very reasonable compared to other estimates. - Better Than Expected – The finished look exceeded our expectations and really improved the appearance of our home. It’s not as glossy as we feared, which we like. - Fast & Efficient – The crew worked quickly and finished everything in just 2 days for our ~1,000 sq. ft. house with two layers of old shingles. - No Issues – No noise at all, despite common concerns about metal roofs. Tip for others: Ask for the exact model and size of vents that will be installed before the project starts. Our vents were only a few months old but couldn’t be reused, and the ones the company brought were the wrong size. The crew had to buy replacements last minute, which worked but don’t perfectly match.

Metal Roofing FAQs for Homeowners in Raymond

The following metal roofing FAQs are designed specifically for homeowners in Raymond, Washington. Whether you are building a new home or replacing an existing roof, understanding how roofing materials perform in local weather conditions is essential. From wind and storm protection to fire resistance, hail impact, snow loads, and coastal moisture exposure, Interlock’s Lifetime Aluminum Roofing System is engineered to provide long-term durability, energy efficiency, and peace of mind in Raymond.

How does a metal roof handle Raymond's snow and ice buildup?

Aluminum's smooth, hard surface sheds snow and ice far more effectively than asphalt shingles, which trap moisture and freeze. Raymond receives about 49 cm of snow annually and experiences roughly 34 freeze-thaw cycles per year—conditions that accelerate asphalt degradation. Interlock's four-way interlocking panels create a sealed, water-tight system that prevents ice dams from forming behind the snow line. The lightweight design (Slate profile at 0.41 lb/sq ft) means no structural load concerns even after heavy snowfall, and optional snow guards can be installed to control slide-off safely.

Why choose aluminum roofing instead of steel in a wet climate like Raymond?

Steel rusts because iron oxidizes when exposed to moisture; aluminum cannot rust because it contains no iron. Instead, aluminum naturally forms a self-healing oxide layer that resists corrosion, making it ideal for Pacific County's 1578 mm annual rainfall and moisture-heavy conditions. Interlock's aluminum alloy (ASTM B209 3105-H24/3003-H24) is paired with a two-sided Alunar 70% PVDF fluorocarbon finish, warranted 30 years against chalking and fading. This dual-layer defense means your roof won't deteriorate from rust even in Raymond's consistently wet environment.

Can a metal roof withstand hail, and will my insurance notice?

Yes—Interlock metal roofing earns UL 2218 Class 4, the highest impact rating available, and the Guardian Warranty even covers perforation from hailstones up to 1.5 inches. While Raymond's climate history doesn't feature hail as a primary threat, the region's gusts reach 103 km/h with occasional severe weather. This Class 4 certification is often recognized by insurers as a loss-control feature that can reduce your premium. Contact your insurer with your product specifications to explore potential discounts; many homeowners recoup installation savings through lower claims risk over time.

Do I need to reinforce my roof structure for a metal roof?

No structural reinforcement is needed. Interlock's Mediterranean Tile profile weighs only about 0.59 lb/sq ft—approximately 96% lighter than concrete or clay tile—and installs safely over most existing roofs without adding structural load. Even after Raymond's typical 49 cm annual snowfall accumulates, the light weight means your framing shoulders no additional burden. This difference is critical: where traditional tile might require expensive beam reinforcement, Interlock installs directly over your current roof system or sheathing, saving thousands in labor and materials while eliminating structural engineering fees.

Will a metal roof blow off in Raymond's wind gusts?

Interlock panels are warranted to resist wind speeds up to 120 mph (193 km/h) when installed to specification. Raymond experiences typical daily-max winds around 15 km/h with gusts reaching 103 km/h—well within this envelope. The four-way interlocking system creates a mechanically locked assembly where each panel engages its neighbors, distributing wind load across the entire roof rather than relying on fasteners alone. This engineering is verified under ICC-ES ESR-1790 (IBC/IRC). Regional storms and winter gales pose no threat to a properly installed Interlock roof, and the warranty covers wind-related failures.

How long will my metal roof last, and what does the warranty cover?

Interlock's Guardian Warranty is lifetime limited and non-prorated for the original owner, covering rust, rot, splitting, cracking, curling, and loss of impact resistance. The warranty transfers once to the next owner for 50 years from completion—a powerful resale advantage. Given Raymond's wet, freeze-thaw climate with 34 annual cycles, asphalt shingles typically need replacement every 15-20 years; aluminum, with its corrosion-proof properties and durable PVDF coating (30-year fade/chalk warranty), will outlast multiple asphalt cycles. This is your last roof purchase: Interlock roofs installed by regional specialists since 1997 have proven durability in identical Pacific County conditions.

Can metal roofing look like slate, cedar shake, or tile instead of industrial corrugated?

Yes. Interlock offers five profile options: Slate, Cedar Shingle, Shake, Standing Seam, and Mediterranean Tile. Each replicates the visual character of its namesake material in authentic detail—shadow lines, texture, and dimension—using aerospace-grade aluminum instead of the original material. The profiles are ICC-ES verified (ESR-1790) and manufactured since 1998 in Delta, BC, to tight tolerances. From street view, Interlock profiles deliver the architectural aesthetic you want while eliminating the maintenance burden, weight, and fragility of genuine slate, wood, or ceramic. Choose the style that matches your home's character; the underlying engineering is identical across all profiles.

How does metal roofing handle Raymond's heavy rainfall without leaking?

Interlock's four-way interlocking panel system and sealed seams work together to shed Raymond's average 1578 mm annual rainfall without penetration. Each panel locks mechanively to its four neighbors (top, bottom, left, right), creating a unified diaphragm where water flows off rather than pooling at fastener penetrations. The panels are installed over solid deck and underlayment (similar to asphalt installation), providing redundant water defense: the metal sheds the primary flow, and the underlayment catches any incidental water. ICC-ES evaluation ESR-1790 confirms compliance with IRC water-tightness standards. After 27 years of installations across coastal British Columbia—an environment as wet as Pacific County—Interlock's zero-leak track record is proven.

Is a metal roof worth the upfront cost compared to asphalt shingles?

Over a 50-year horizon, metal is dramatically cheaper. Asphalt shingles cost $8,000–12,000 installed in Raymond but last only 15–20 years, requiring 2–3 full replacements. Interlock metal costs more initially but lasts a lifetime with zero replacement expense, the Guardian non-prorated warranty, and virtually no maintenance (no seasonal cleaning in Raymond's 1578 mm rainfall zone). Current financing: no payments and no interest until Spring 2027, or 10% off installation. The warranty transfers to the next owner for 50 years, adding $15,000–25,000 to resale value. Calculate total cost-of-ownership over decades, not years, and aluminum is a financial win—plus you never roof again.

Is metal roofing better for the environment than asphalt?

Yes. Interlock aluminum is approximately 95% recyclable; at end-of-life, it enters the aluminum recycle stream worth real material value, unlike asphalt shingles, which are shredded and landfilled by the millions of tons annually. An asphalt roof replacement in Raymond means tearing off, hauling, and burying 50–100 tons of non-biodegradable waste; you'll do this 2–3 times in your home's life. Aluminum's durability ends that cycle entirely. Interlock is CALGreen-verified for reduced maintenance, meaning lower water and energy use over the roof's life. The product has been manufactured sustainably in Delta, BC since 1998 and installed from coastal homes to Antarctica, reducing building waste globally while delivering performance in Raymond's freeze-thaw climate (34 cycles/year) that would degrade softer materials.
