Review: February 26, 2019Completion: January 19, 2019

Communication. I was told a crew would come the 2nd week of Jan. & there was no return of my phone calls or an email when they didn't show up then. All of a sudden one day a crew showed up unannounced & were going to Aberdeen to pick up the materials & come back to start the job-- I think this was a couple of weeks later. I cleaned up all the garbage left as the crew had no room to take it with them--they were great guys & very nice & efficient, but I took care of disposal of any bits & pieces of metal as well as a lot of paper stuff that I burnt. We have hired Interlock for numerous "roofs" on our farm over the years & even though the product is very expensive, it is a quality product. Most all of our farm buildings as well as both homes on our farm have Interlock roofs & anyone that visits & asks about the matching roofs, we explain Interlock products to them. Our repeated use of Interlock is quite a picture testimony of various shapes & sizes of Interlock roofing projects from an old 1880's Victorian Farmhouse to our small water pump house!!!

Metal Roofing FAQs for Homeowners in Rhodesia Beach

The following metal roofing FAQs are designed specifically for homeowners in Rhodesia Beach, Washington. Whether you are building a new home or replacing an existing roof, understanding how roofing materials perform in local weather conditions is essential. From wind and storm protection to fire resistance, hail impact, snow loads, and coastal moisture exposure, Interlock’s Lifetime Aluminum Roofing System is engineered to provide long-term durability, energy efficiency, and peace of mind in Rhodesia Beach.

Does metal roofing handle heavy snow and ice in Rhodesia Beach?

Yes—Interlock's four-way interlocking aluminum panels are engineered for snow load and ice dam prevention. Rhodesia Beach averages about 52 cm of snow annually with roughly 11 freeze-thaw cycles per year, conditions that stress asphalt shingles and wood shake. Aluminum's light weight (the Shake profile at 0.58 lb/sq ft) means no structural reinforcement is needed, and the interlocking seams shed water and ice melt cleanly. Optional snow guards can be added to any profile if you want to manage snow discharge on steeper pitches.

Will a metal roof leak in Rhodesia Beach's wet winters?

No—the region receives about 2,211 mm of rainfall annually, and Interlock's four-way interlocking design sheds water at every seam overlap. The panels lock mechanically without sealant dependency, eliminating the adhesive failure that degrades asphalt over 15–20 years. When installed to ESR-1790 spec over a solid deck with underlayment, the system channels water as effectively as any pitched roof. Gutters and downspouts handle the volume; the panels themselves don't retain it.

Why can't aluminum metal roofing rust like steel?

Aluminum contains no iron, so rusting is chemically impossible. The metal forms a microscopic oxide layer that self-heals when scratched—a property steel lacks entirely. Interlock uses roofing-grade 3105-H24 and 3003-H24 aluminum alloy per ASTM B209, coated with Alunar 70% PVDF fluorocarbon on both sides (extra protection in Pacific County's salt air and wet winters). Even if the coastal environment or 2,211 mm annual rainfall reaches the substrate, only oxidation occurs—never the red rust staining and structural decay that compromises steel or iron-bearing roofs over decades.

Is a metal roof really cheaper than asphalt over time?

Over a 50-year roof life, metal roofing costs less than multiple asphalt replacements. Asphalt shingles require replacement every 15–20 years in Rhodesia Beach's wet, freeze-thaw climate (11 freeze-thaw cycles annually degrade the adhesive). Interlock's Guardian warranty is lifetime limited and non-prorated for the original owner, then transferable for 50 years to the next owner—one roof, one installation, no tear-off-to-landfill cycle repeating. Current promotion: no payments and no interest until Spring 2027, or 10% off installation. Over five decades, you save disposal costs, labor, and the weather disruption of multiple projects.

How much maintenance does an Interlock metal roof need compared to asphalt or wood shake?

Interlock requires nearly no maintenance—no seasonal sealant reapplication, no tar or adhesive refresh, no wood treatment or rot inspection. Asphalt shingles in Rhodesia Beach's 2,211 mm annual rainfall and 52 cm snow degrade faster, requiring inspection and repair every few years. Wood shake demands staining, fungicide application, and nail replacement. Aluminum oxide's self-healing property and the Alunar 30-year coating warranty against chalking mean you clean gutters and check fasteners annually; that's it. CALGreen verification confirms reduced maintenance burden versus traditional materials.

Will an Interlock metal roof lower cooling costs in summer?

Yes, if you choose an energy-efficient color. Interlock offers profiles with thermal emissivity of 0.84 and solar reflectance up to 0.55 (Aged Copper Penny), rated by the Cool Roof Rating Council. In Rhodesia Beach's 2,892 annual sunshine hours, reflective coatings bounce heat away that asphalt absorbs and re-radiates into the home. While Pacific County winters are cool (mean 11°C), spring and fall solar gain still matters; the reflectance reduces cooling-season air-conditioning runtime and extends HVAC equipment life. The coating carries a 30-year warranty against fading, so reflectance performance is sustained.

Can metal roofing resist Rhodesia Beach's coastal wind and gusts?

Yes—Interlock panels are warranted to resist wind speeds up to 120 mph (193 km/h) when installed to specification. Rhodesia Beach's typical daily-max winds reach about 19 km/h with gusts to 122 km/h, well within that envelope. The four-way interlocking design distributes wind load across the entire panel network rather than relying on fasteners alone. In coastal Pacific County, where salt air and moisture accelerate corrosion of steel fasteners, aluminum's non-corrosive substrate and the mechanical interlock redundancy provide decades-longer wind resilience than asphalt or brittle shingles that split and lift under sustained gust cycles.

Does Interlock's hail rating help with homeowner's insurance in Washington?

Interlock holds UL 2218 Class 4 impact rating—the highest available—and the Guardian warranty even covers hail perforation up to 1.5 inches. Many insurance carriers recognize Class 4 roofing and may offer premium discounts for impact resistance; contact your agent with your profile choice and UL rating. In Rhodesia Beach, hail events are infrequent given the 52 cm annual snow and 2,211 mm rain pattern, but Class 4 certification ensures protection if they do occur. Unlike asphalt, which degrades from UV and thermal cycling between freeze-thaw days, aluminum's resilience extends far beyond the hail-impact moment.

How long does installation take, and can it go over my existing roof?

Installation timeline depends on roof size and weather; Interlock Metal Roofing (PNW) Inc. will scope your home and provide a schedule. One key advantage: the Tile profile, at approximately 96% lighter than concrete or clay tile, installs directly over most existing roofs without structural reinforcement. This means less labor, faster completion, and no disposal hassle for the old roof. In Rhodesia Beach's wet climate (2,211 mm annual rainfall), avoiding a tear-off also protects your home from water exposure during the project. Current promotion offers no payments and no interest until Spring 2027 or 10% off—ideal timing to schedule summer or early-fall installation when wind gusts (averaging 122 km/h max) are most predictable.

What does the lifetime warranty cover, and does it transfer if I sell?

The Guardian warranty is lifetime limited and non-prorated for the original owner—covering rusting (impossible with aluminum), rotting, splitting, cracking, curling, and loss of impact resistance. It's one-time transferable, giving the next owner 50 years from completion, a major resale asset in Pacific County. Over Rhodesia Beach's 11 freeze-thaw days per year and sustained moisture, that non-prorated term means you're covered if ice cycling or weather stress occurs in year 20 or 40, with no deductible or payment tier. No other roofing material—asphalt (15–20 year life), wood (requires ongoing treatment), or traditional tile—offers this combination of length, transferability, and zero prorating.

Is a metal roof a good choice for Rhodesia Beach’s climate?

Yes. Rhodesia Beach averages about 52 cm of snow, 2211 mm of rain, roughly 11 freeze–thaw days a year, with peak wind gusts near 122 km/h. Interlock® aluminum roofing is wind-rated to 193+ km/h (120 mph), UL 2218 Class 4 impact-rated and Class A fire-rated, and its four-way interlocking panels shed snow and resist ice dams and freeze–thaw cracking — all backed by a lifetime limited, transferable warranty.
