Interlock® Aluminum Roofing — all-climates performance specs for Hines, Washington
| Spec / Rating | Climate / Risk Factor + What It Solves |
|---|---|
| Wind resistance: 120+ mph (193+ kph) | Extreme wind, hurricanes, storm uplift: full interlocking attachment helps prevent blow-offs, edge lifting, and panel loss in high-gust events. |
| Fire rating: Class A (with proper assembly) | Wildfire, embers, radiant heat, chimney sparks: non-combustible roof assembly provides the highest residential fire protection rating. |
| Hail resistance: UL 2218 Class 4 | Hail and impact debris: highest impact classification; resists cracking, splitting, and surface loss common with asphalt under hail strikes. |
| Snow & ice performance: interlocking, shedding profile | Heavy snow, freeze-thaw, ice dams: smooth aluminum sheds snow efficiently and the interlocking design helps block water intrusion when melt-refreeze cycles occur. (Final snow-load capacity depends on roof structure and local code.) |

What our customers are saying:
Prompt service and very knowledgeable. Highly recommend.
My wife and I wanted a long-term roof and I think we found it. The product seems very good and are installer Daniel was terrific and a trooper put a lot of hours and a lot of time and made it look real nice when it was completed. I would recommend the company if you're looking for a metal roof.
Ivan Excellent will make it right!!
We needed a roof repair when our neighbors tree dropped a large limb through our roof. Ivan came And accessed The damage, Ordered the sheets we needed. He came back and did the whole Repair himself. So happy to have it fixed along with his recommendations to have the roof cleaned. We appreciate his skills in repairing The roof.
The Interlock associate Ivan, came did an awesome service in correcting the part needed to be corrected, he left us with instructions of what we needed to check and to get in touch with, if needed 😀 Ms. May the associate answering the phone was helpful for us to get prompt service. They are dependable. We received roof service.
The work was efficient and well done. The service, the people and team were great. Beautiful roof.
I highly appreciate the professionalism, workmanship and the quality of materials used. I don't doubt that it will be our forever roof and will not need to worry about replacement during the life of our house. Ross, Tony, Roma were all great throughout the new roof installation process.
We noticed water spots on the ceiling. Ivan came, found a hole likely caused by a branch in the recent wind storm. He repaired the hole on the spot. Thank you Ivan!
Ivan replaced our exhaust vent on the roof that had some leaking issue. We were impressed with his professionalism, courtesy and fixing the problem to our utmost satisfaction. We certainly would recommend him and the company for any roofing issues being it a new roof or repairs.
We recently had our roof replaced with interlock aluminum shingles and we love how it made our house stand out in our neighborhood. I would have given 5 stars but there were few things that I wanted to point out. Ross arrived on time and did an excellent presentation. I specifically asked him if their installers are contractors and his answer was no, they are employees of interlock. Turns out they are contractors which is no big deal as long as they do excellent work, it’s all about honesty. Prior to installation, the installers told me that it would take about two and a half days to finish which is great, I said no rush. The installation process took two weeks, I hope everything will go well this coming rainy season. The only thing I didn’t like was at the end of the day they leave their tools in the driveway just laying around and the worst they leave their microwave plugged into the outlet with damaged power cord. But with all things said, we love our new roof and only time will tell if it was worth the price.
Excellent contact and coordination with field representatives and installers/project manager.
We recently had our roof replaced with aluminum shingles and are very satisfied so far. - Easy Sales Process – Thank you Ross for making everything clear and straightforward from the start. - Great Value – The price was very reasonable compared to other estimates. - Better Than Expected – The finished look exceeded our expectations and really improved the appearance of our home. It’s not as glossy as we feared, which we like. - Fast & Efficient – The crew worked quickly and finished everything in just 2 days for our ~1,000 sq. ft. house with two layers of old shingles. - No Issues – No noise at all, despite common concerns about metal roofs. Tip for others: Ask for the exact model and size of vents that will be installed before the project starts. Our vents were only a few months old but couldn’t be reused, and the ones the company brought were the wrong size. The crew had to buy replacements last minute, which worked but don’t perfectly match.

Metal Roofing FAQs for Homeowners in Hines
The following metal roofing FAQs are designed specifically for homeowners in Hines, Washington. Whether you are building a new home or replacing an existing roof, understanding how roofing materials perform in local weather conditions is essential. From wind and storm protection to fire resistance, hail impact, snow loads, and coastal moisture exposure, Interlock’s Lifetime Aluminum Roofing System is engineered to provide long-term durability, energy efficiency, and peace of mind in Hines.
How does a metal roof handle heavy snow and ice in Hines winters?
Metal roofing sheds snow and ice more effectively than asphalt because its smooth, interlocking surface prevents the kind of buildup that causes ice dams. Hines receives about 52 cm of snow annually and experiences roughly 11 freeze-thaw cycles per year—conditions that cycle snow from melting to refreezing. Interlock's four-way interlocking aluminum panels stay secure through this movement because aluminum expands and contracts uniformly; the panels won't split or curl like wood or asphalt shingles do. Snow guards are available if you want to control sliding for safety. The lightweight design (Shake profile at 0.58 lb/sq ft) means no structural load concerns even with accumulated snow.
Will a metal roof leak with Pacific County's heavy rainfall?
No. The four-way interlocking seams are designed to shed water—not trap it. Hines records around 2,211 mm of rain annually, but the overlapping panel geometry channels water downward and outward, preventing pooling. The ESR-1790 evaluation (reissued 2025) certifies these panels meet IBC/IRC water-resistance standards. Installation over solid decking with underlayment creates a redundant barrier. Properly installed Interlock panels have been deployed from coastal homes to Antarctic research stations, where exposure is far more severe than inland Pacific County conditions. The lifetime limited warranty covers leaks from material or workmanship failure.
Can a metal roof withstand Hines wind gusts?
Yes. Pacific County typical gusts reach 122 km/h, and Interlock panels are warranted to resist winds up to 120 mph (193 km/h) when installed per specifications. The four-way interlocking aluminum design distributes wind load across multiple attachment points, preventing individual panels from lifting. UL testing (Intertek listing 33876) confirms impact and wind-load durability. Unlike asphalt shingles, which can lift and separate under sustained gusts, the mechanical interlock creates a unified surface that moves as one. For a Hines home in an exposed location, this difference is real—you're not relying on adhesive or nails in isolation.
Why don't aluminum roofs rust like steel ones?
Aluminum cannot rust because it contains no iron. Instead, aluminum naturally forms a protective oxide layer that heals itself when scratched. In Pacific County's damp climate with occasional salt-air influence, this is a decisive advantage over steel roofing, which rusts and requires protective coatings that degrade over time. Interlock uses roofing-grade 3105-H24 / 3003-H24 aluminum alloy (ASTM B209) and applies Alunar 70% PVDF fluorocarbon finish to both sides of every panel—extra protection that carries a 30-year chalking and fading warranty. With ~2,211 mm annual rainfall and freeze-thaw cycles, the self-healing oxide layer means your roof's corrosion resistance improves or stays constant; it never decreases.
Does an aluminum metal roof require structural reinforcement?
No. The Interlock Mediterranean Tile profile—which replicates the appearance of heavy clay or concrete tile—weighs roughly 0.59 lb/sq ft, making it about 96% lighter than the real materials it resembles. Most homes can install Interlock panels directly over existing asphalt roofing without structural modifications. This lightweight advantage is especially valuable in Hines, where you avoid the cost and disruption of reinforcing rafters or trusses. Compare this to wood shake or slate aesthetics: you get the visual detail without the engineering expense. The four-way interlocking aluminum construction provides structural integrity through design, not mass.
What hail rating does a metal roof have, and could it lower my insurance?
Interlock panels carry a UL 2218 Class 4 impact rating—the highest available—and the warranty even covers perforation from hailstones up to 1.5 inches. This superior hail performance sometimes qualifies homeowners for insurance discounts; contact your agent with the UL 2218 Class 4 specification and Intertek listing 33876. While Hines's climate data doesn't highlight hail as a primary risk, the durability advantage means your roof resists damage from any airborne impact—fallen branches, debris from windstorms common in Pacific County's ~122 km/h gusts. The impact rating is measured and certified, not estimated.
How long does a metal roof last, and what does the warranty cover?
The Guardian warranty is a lifetime limited, non-prorated material warranty for the original owner, covering rusting, rotting, splitting, cracking, curling, and loss of impact resistance. It's transferable once, giving the next owner 50 years of coverage from completion—a real incentive for resale value. Interlock panels have been manufactured since 1998 in Delta, BC, and installed in environments far harsher than Hines's 2,211 mm annual rainfall and 52 cm snow. The Alunar 70% PVDF coating is warranted 30 years against chalking and fading (ASTM D4214/D2244 measured). A properly installed Interlock roof will outlast multiple asphalt replacements.
Do metal roofs stay cooler and reduce energy bills?
energy-efficient Interlock colors reflect heat instead of absorbing it, with thermal emissivity of 0.84 and initial solar reflectance up to 0.55 (Aged Copper Penny). While Hines receives about 2,892 sunshine hours annually—moderate compared to southern climates—the reflective coating still reduces cooling load in summer months and lowers heat loss through the roof year-round. The Cool Roof Rating Council rating confirms these colors outperform standard asphalt. In a region with freeze-thaw cycles every ~11 days, the stable thermal performance of aluminum also means fewer expansion-contraction stresses on fasteners and seams than asphalt experiences.
Is a metal roof fire-resistant, and does that matter for insurance?
Yes. Aluminum is non-combustible and a Class A fire rating is available. The ICC-ES evaluation report ESR-1790 (reissued 2025) confirms fire-performance compliance with IBC/IRC codes. Class A rating may qualify you for homeowners insurance discounts; verify with your carrier. In Pacific County's damp climate with frequent rainfall, wildfire risk is lower than in drier regions, but Class A certification is still a real safety benefit and a selling point if you ever transfer the property. The non-combustible aluminum construction means your roof actively resists fire spread, unlike asphalt shingles.
Are metal roofs recyclable, and how do they compare to asphalt environmentally?
Interlock aluminum panels are approximately 95% recyclable at end of life, breaking the asphalt tear-off-to-landfill cycle that asphalt shingles create. Metal roofing eliminates the need for multiple replacements over a building's lifetime, reducing total material waste. Hines's 2,211 mm annual rainfall and 52 cm snow mean your roof endures harsh wet conditions; asphalt typically requires replacement every 15–20 years under this exposure, while aluminum lasts decades without degradation. CALGreen verification confirms the maintenance reduction. Choosing aluminum means fewer landfill contributions per century of home ownership—a concrete environmental gain.
