Interlock® Aluminum Roofing — all-climates performance specs for Oysterville, Washington
| Spec / Rating | Climate / Risk Factor + What It Solves |
|---|---|
| Wind resistance: 120+ mph (193+ kph) | Extreme wind, hurricanes, storm uplift: full interlocking attachment helps prevent blow-offs, edge lifting, and panel loss in high-gust events. |
| Fire rating: Class A (with proper assembly) | Wildfire, embers, radiant heat, chimney sparks: non-combustible roof assembly provides the highest residential fire protection rating. |
| Hail resistance: UL 2218 Class 4 | Hail and impact debris: highest impact classification; resists cracking, splitting, and surface loss common with asphalt under hail strikes. |
| Snow & ice performance: interlocking, shedding profile | Heavy snow, freeze-thaw, ice dams: smooth aluminum sheds snow efficiently and the interlocking design helps block water intrusion when melt-refreeze cycles occur. (Final snow-load capacity depends on roof structure and local code.) |
| Corrosion resistance: aluminum (won’t rust) | Salt air, coastal humidity, wet climates: aluminum naturally resists rust and corrosion, reducing long-term failure risk in marine or high-moisture environments. |

What our customers are saying:
Prompt service and very knowledgeable. Highly recommend.
My wife and I wanted a long-term roof and I think we found it. The product seems very good and are installer Daniel was terrific and a trooper put a lot of hours and a lot of time and made it look real nice when it was completed. I would recommend the company if you're looking for a metal roof.
Ivan Excellent will make it right!!
We needed a roof repair when our neighbors tree dropped a large limb through our roof. Ivan came And accessed The damage, Ordered the sheets we needed. He came back and did the whole Repair himself. So happy to have it fixed along with his recommendations to have the roof cleaned. We appreciate his skills in repairing The roof.
The Interlock associate Ivan, came did an awesome service in correcting the part needed to be corrected, he left us with instructions of what we needed to check and to get in touch with, if needed 😀 Ms. May the associate answering the phone was helpful for us to get prompt service. They are dependable. We received roof service.
The work was efficient and well done. The service, the people and team were great. Beautiful roof.
I highly appreciate the professionalism, workmanship and the quality of materials used. I don't doubt that it will be our forever roof and will not need to worry about replacement during the life of our house. Ross, Tony, Roma were all great throughout the new roof installation process.
We noticed water spots on the ceiling. Ivan came, found a hole likely caused by a branch in the recent wind storm. He repaired the hole on the spot. Thank you Ivan!
Ivan replaced our exhaust vent on the roof that had some leaking issue. We were impressed with his professionalism, courtesy and fixing the problem to our utmost satisfaction. We certainly would recommend him and the company for any roofing issues being it a new roof or repairs.
We recently had our roof replaced with interlock aluminum shingles and we love how it made our house stand out in our neighborhood. I would have given 5 stars but there were few things that I wanted to point out. Ross arrived on time and did an excellent presentation. I specifically asked him if their installers are contractors and his answer was no, they are employees of interlock. Turns out they are contractors which is no big deal as long as they do excellent work, it’s all about honesty. Prior to installation, the installers told me that it would take about two and a half days to finish which is great, I said no rush. The installation process took two weeks, I hope everything will go well this coming rainy season. The only thing I didn’t like was at the end of the day they leave their tools in the driveway just laying around and the worst they leave their microwave plugged into the outlet with damaged power cord. But with all things said, we love our new roof and only time will tell if it was worth the price.
Excellent contact and coordination with field representatives and installers/project manager.
We recently had our roof replaced with aluminum shingles and are very satisfied so far. - Easy Sales Process – Thank you Ross for making everything clear and straightforward from the start. - Great Value – The price was very reasonable compared to other estimates. - Better Than Expected – The finished look exceeded our expectations and really improved the appearance of our home. It’s not as glossy as we feared, which we like. - Fast & Efficient – The crew worked quickly and finished everything in just 2 days for our ~1,000 sq. ft. house with two layers of old shingles. - No Issues – No noise at all, despite common concerns about metal roofs. Tip for others: Ask for the exact model and size of vents that will be installed before the project starts. Our vents were only a few months old but couldn’t be reused, and the ones the company brought were the wrong size. The crew had to buy replacements last minute, which worked but don’t perfectly match.

Metal Roofing FAQs for Homeowners in Oysterville
The following metal roofing FAQs are designed specifically for homeowners in Oysterville, Washington. Whether you are building a new home or replacing an existing roof, understanding how roofing materials perform in local weather conditions is essential. From wind and storm protection to fire resistance, hail impact, snow loads, and coastal moisture exposure, Interlock’s Lifetime Aluminum Roofing System is engineered to provide long-term durability, energy efficiency, and peace of mind in Oysterville.
How does a metal roof handle Oysterville's heavy snow and ice buildup?
Metal roofs shed snow and ice more effectively than asphalt because the smooth aluminum surface and four-way interlocking panel design prevent accumulation and ice dam formation. Oysterville receives about 52 cm of snow annually and experiences roughly 11 freeze-thaw cycles per year—conditions that crack and curl asphalt shingles. Aluminum's non-porous oxide layer won't absorb meltwater, and the standing-seam and shake profiles direct water away from joints. Snow guards can be added to control release if needed, protecting landscaping and walkways below.
Will a metal roof leak in Oysterville's wet climate?
No—the four-way interlocking design and sealed panel edges prevent water penetration even in Oysterville's 2211 mm of annual rainfall. Each panel locks to its neighbor on all four sides, creating a labyrinth that forces water to run off rather than pool or seep into joints. The ICC-ES ESR-1790 approval confirms compliance with building-code water-shedding requirements. Combined with proper underlayment and a solid deck, metal roofing outperforms traditional asphalt in high-rainfall zones by eliminating the saturation and rot that compromises wood decking over decades.
Can an aluminum roof rust or corrode in salt air or wet coastal conditions?
Aluminum cannot rust because it contains no iron; instead, it develops a thin, self-healing oxide layer that protects the base metal. Interlock panels are manufactured from roofing-grade 3105-H24 and 3003-H24 aluminum alloy to ASTM B209, and are coated on both sides with Alunar 70% PVDF fluorocarbon finish, warranted 30 years against chalking and fading. This dual-sided coating is specifically applied for installations near salt air. The product has been installed from coastal homes to Antarctic research stations, proving durability where chloride exposure and humidity would destroy steel or corrode other metals.
Can a metal roof withstand Pacific County wind gusts?
Yes—Interlock metal roofing is warranted to resist wind speeds up to 120 mph (193 km/h) when installed to specification. Oysterville experiences typical daily-max winds around 19 km/h with gusts reaching 122 km/h, well within the warranty range. The four-way interlocking panels lock together on all sides, distributing uplift forces across the entire roof system rather than concentrating stress on individual fasteners. This design, combined with proper fastening into solid decking, exceeds wind-resistance requirements in ICC-ES ESR-1790, so your roof remains secure during the seasonal Pacific storms that challenge asphalt-shingle fastening.
Does my home need structural reinforcement for a metal roof?
No structural reinforcement is needed. Interlock's aluminum panels are extraordinarily light: the Slate installs at about 0.41 lb/sq ft, and even the Mediterranean Tile profile weighs only 0.59 lb/sq ft—approximately 96% lighter than concrete or clay tile. Because aluminum weighs so little, it can install directly over most existing roofs without additional framing or support. This saves thousands in structural upgrades, eliminates tear-off debris costs, and reduces installation time. Your home's existing structure easily supports this weight, even with Oysterville's 52 cm annual snowfall, because snow load calculations are based on roof pitch and climate, not material weight alone.
Will a metal roof reduce my heating or cooling costs?
Your cooling costs decrease with energy-efficient Interlock colors, which have thermal emissivity of 0.84 and initial solar reflectance up to 0.55 (Aged Copper Penny), rated by the Cool Roof Rating Council. These reflective coatings bounce sunlight away rather than absorbing it like asphalt. Over Oysterville's 2892 sunshine hours per year, this difference compounds—your attic stays cooler in summer, reducing air-conditioning load. The Alunar 70% PVDF finish maintains reflectivity for 30 years, unlike asphalt that darkens and absorbs more heat over time. Homeowners in similar Pacific Northwest climates report measurable utility savings, especially if your home has minimal attic insulation or faces south or west.
Is my metal roof covered for hail damage, and will my insurance rate drop?
Interlock metal roofing earns UL 2218 Class 4 impact rating—the highest available—and the Guardian Warranty even covers perforation from hailstones up to 1.5 inches. This durability often qualifies homeowners for homeowners-insurance discounts because metal roofs experience minimal damage from the hail events common in Pacific County. Your insurer will see a Class 4-rated roof as a claims-reducing asset, especially compared to asphalt shingles that dent, crack, and leak after moderate hail. Document the UL 2218 rating and the ICC-ES ESR-1790 certification when filing your application; many insurers offer 5-15% premium reductions for non-combustible, impact-resistant roofs. Contact your agent to confirm your specific policy's discount structure.
What is the warranty on an Interlock metal roof, and how long will it last?
The Guardian Warranty is a lifetime limited, non-prorated material warranty for the original owner, covering rusting, rotting, splitting, cracking, curling, and loss of impact resistance. It is one-time transferable, granting the next owner 50 years of coverage from completion. This non-prorated language means you're covered equally in year one and year thirty—no declining benefits. Combined with the Alunar 70% PVDF coating warranted 30 years against fading, your roof's core protection extends decades beyond asphalt (15-20 years) or wood shake (20-30 years). Given Oysterville's 11 freeze-thaw cycles annually and 2211 mm rain, the ability to transfer coverage also increases your home's resale appeal and buyer confidence.
Is a metal roof better for the environment than asphalt shingles?
Yes—Interlock aluminum panels are approximately 95% recyclable at end of life, and the material never degrades into microplastics or leachate. Unlike asphalt shingles, which are torn off and landfilled every 15-20 years (contributing millions of tons of waste annually), aluminum can be infinitely remelted without losing properties. Interlock's light weight means fewer truck trips for delivery and installation, reducing transportation carbon. The 30-year coating warranty and transferable 50-year warranty extend the roof's service life, reducing replacement frequency. If you install over your existing roof (possible because panels weigh only 0.41–0.59 lb/sq ft), you eliminate an entire tear-off event. Over Oysterville's 2211 mm of annual rainfall, the roof's longevity means fewer replacements and less environmental impact per decade of shelter.
Can you install a metal roof over my existing asphalt roof, and how long does it take?
Yes—Interlock panels install over most existing asphalt roofs because they weigh only 0.41–0.59 lb/sq ft (about 96% lighter than tile), requiring no structural reinforcement. Installation begins with a solid deck inspection and any necessary repairs, followed by underlayment, metal flashing, and panel installation with concealed fasteners. The four-way interlocking design speeds fastening because each panel locks to its neighbors, reducing individual fastener count. Most residential roofs (1000–2000 sq ft) complete in 2–5 days depending on complexity and weather. Oysterville's 52 cm annual snowfall means spring through early autumn provides optimal installation windows. Avoiding a tear-off saves time, labor, hauling fees, and site disruption—a major advantage for occupied homes and properties where debris disposal is challenging.
