Review: October 14, 2025

We recently had our roof replaced with interlock aluminum shingles and we love how it made our house stand out in our neighborhood. I would have given 5 stars but there were few things that I wanted to point out. Ross arrived on time and did an excellent presentation. I specifically asked him if their installers are contractors and his answer was no, they are employees of interlock. Turns out they are contractors which is no big deal as long as they do excellent work, it’s all about honesty. Prior to installation, the installers told me that it would take about two and a half days to finish which is great, I said no rush. The installation process took two weeks, I hope everything will go well this coming rainy season. The only thing I didn’t like was at the end of the day they leave their tools in the driveway just laying around and the worst they leave their microwave plugged into the outlet with damaged power cord. But with all things said, we love our new roof and only time will tell if it was worth the price.

Review: August 23, 2025

We recently had our roof replaced with aluminum shingles and are very satisfied so far. - Easy Sales Process – Thank you Ross for making everything clear and straightforward from the start. - Great Value – The price was very reasonable compared to other estimates. - Better Than Expected – The finished look exceeded our expectations and really improved the appearance of our home. It’s not as glossy as we feared, which we like. - Fast & Efficient – The crew worked quickly and finished everything in just 2 days for our ~1,000 sq. ft. house with two layers of old shingles. - No Issues – No noise at all, despite common concerns about metal roofs. Tip for others: Ask for the exact model and size of vents that will be installed before the project starts. Our vents were only a few months old but couldn’t be reused, and the ones the company brought were the wrong size. The crew had to buy replacements last minute, which worked but don’t perfectly match.

Metal Roofing FAQs for Homeowners in Naselle

The following metal roofing FAQs are designed specifically for homeowners in Naselle, Washington. Whether you are building a new home or replacing an existing roof, understanding how roofing materials perform in local weather conditions is essential. From wind and storm protection to fire resistance, hail impact, snow loads, and coastal moisture exposure, Interlock’s Lifetime Aluminum Roofing System is engineered to provide long-term durability, energy efficiency, and peace of mind in Naselle.

How does a metal roof handle the snow and freeze-thaw cycles we get in Naselle?

Metal roofs shed snow and ice far better than asphalt because aluminum conducts heat and has a smooth, slippery surface—critical in a climate that averages about 52 cm of snow and 11 freeze-thaw days yearly. The four-way interlocking panels create a unified system that prevents ice dams from forming in the thermal cycling typical of Naselle's 11°C mean temperature. Aluminum cannot rust or rot when exposed to meltwater, unlike steel or wood. Optional snow guards can be installed if you want to control shedding on specific areas.

Will a metal roof stay secure in Naselle's wind and storm gusts?

Yes. Interlock's four-way interlocking aluminum panels are warranted to resist sustained winds up to 120 mph, and Naselle's typical gust speeds reach about 122 km/h—well within that threshold. The panels lock together along all edges, distributing wind load across the entire roof rather than relying on fasteners alone. This redundancy is especially valuable during the Pacific County storm season, where wind and heavy rain often arrive together.

Can a metal roof handle Naselle's heavy annual rainfall without leaking?

Naselle receives approximately 2,211 mm of rain annually, and metal roofs are engineered to handle continuous heavy rainfall without leaking when installed correctly. The four-way interlocking panels create overlapping water pathways that direct moisture downward; each panel edges lap into the next, functioning like roof shingles but with mechanical locks. Combined with proper deck and flashing installation, this system has protected homes from coastal Alaska to the Pacific Northwest for over 25 years. Leaks are rare and typically result from improper flashing—not the panels themselves.

Why won't my aluminum metal roof rust like steel roofs can?

Aluminum contains no iron, so it cannot rust—period. Instead, it develops a transparent aluminum oxide layer that actually protects the metal beneath; if scratched, this oxide self-heals. Steel roofs oxidize into iron oxide (rust) that spreads and weakens the material. Interlock uses roofing-grade 3105-H24 and 3003-H24 aluminum alloy (ASTM B209) coated with Alunar 70% PVDF fluorocarbon on both sides. This two-sided coating is especially important in Pacific County's high-rainfall environment, where salt air and constant moisture would corrode steel within years.

Does my metal roof have hail protection, and could it lower my insurance?

Interlock metal roofing carries a UL 2218 Class 4 impact rating—the highest available—and the Guardian Warranty even covers perforation from hailstones up to 1.5 inches. While Naselle isn't a frequent hail zone, severe weather systems do occur, and this protection is valuable. Contact your insurer about impact-resistance discounts; many carriers reward Class 4 roofs because they rarely file hail claims. The non-prorated lifetime limited warranty also reassures underwriters, potentially lowering your premium over the roof's life.

Is a metal roof light enough to install over my existing roof without reinforcement?

Yes. Interlock aluminum is extraordinarily light—the Mediterranean Tile profile installs at about 0.59 lb/sq ft, roughly 96% lighter than concrete or clay tile. This weight allows installation directly over most existing asphalt roofs with zero structural reinforcement needed. Naselle homeowners can avoid the cost and disruption of a complete tear-off. The Slate profile weighs just 0.41 lb/sq ft. This lightweight advantage also reduces long-term strain on rafters and trusses, extending their life.

Will an aluminum roof actually save me money on cooling costs in our climate?

Interlock's energy-efficient colors achieve thermal emissivity of 0.84 and solar reflectance up to 0.55, meaning they reflect heat that darker asphalt absorbs and radiates into your attic. Even in Naselle's mild 11°C mean climate with about 2,892 annual sunshine hours, this reflectance reduces cooling demand on warmer days and lowers radiant heat gain throughout the year. Cool Roof Rating Council testing validates these properties. The savings accumulate over decades—one reason metal roofs lower total cost of ownership despite higher upfront price.

What's the real difference between a lifetime warranty on metal versus asphalt shingles?

Interlock's Guardian Warranty is a non-prorated lifetime limited material warranty for the original owner, covering rusting, rotting, splitting, cracking, curling, and loss of impact resistance. It's also transferable once, giving the next owner 50 years from completion. Asphalt shingles carry prorated warranties (coverage drops yearly) and rarely transfer. A metal roof installed today on your Naselle home can outlast two or three asphalt replacements—meaning you buy one roof, not three. Over 25+ years, the math favors metal decisively on both cost and waste.

How long does metal roof installation take, and can you install over my old roof?

Installation timeline depends on roof complexity and weather, but most Naselle homes complete in 3–5 days once the crew starts. Yes, Interlock installs directly over existing asphalt shingles, eliminating expensive tear-off labor and landfill disposal. The lightweight aluminum (unlike heavy slate or tile) means no structural work is required. Your local installer, Interlock Metal Roofing (PNW) Inc., has served the region since 1997 and coordinates around Naselle's typical weather windows. Current financing—no payments and no interest until Spring 2027, or 10% off installation—makes now a strategic time to upgrade.

Can I get the look of slate, cedar shake, or tile with a metal roof that actually lasts?

Interlock offers five profiles: Slate, Cedar Shingle, Shake, Standing Seam, and Mediterranean Tile. Each replicates traditional materials in aluminum, delivering authentic visual depth without the fragility, weight, or maintenance of the real thing. Cedar shingles split and curl; slate cracks; tile breaks. Interlock panels lock together four-ways and resist impact, splitting, and frost damage that plague genuine materials in Naselle's 11 freeze-thaw cycle environment. You choose the aesthetic; aluminum delivers 25+ years of durability and a 30-year coating warranty against fading and chalking—something no asphalt or wood shake can match.
