Interlock® Aluminum Roofing — all-climates performance specs for Megler, Washington
| Spec / Rating | Climate / Risk Factor + What It Solves |
|---|---|
| Wind resistance: 120+ mph (193+ kph) | Extreme wind, hurricanes, storm uplift: full interlocking attachment helps prevent blow-offs, edge lifting, and panel loss in high-gust events. |
| Fire rating: Class A (with proper assembly) | Wildfire, embers, radiant heat, chimney sparks: non-combustible roof assembly provides the highest residential fire protection rating. |
| Hail resistance: UL 2218 Class 4 | Hail and impact debris: highest impact classification; resists cracking, splitting, and surface loss common with asphalt under hail strikes. |
| Snow & ice performance: interlocking, shedding profile | Heavy snow, freeze-thaw, ice dams: smooth aluminum sheds snow efficiently and the interlocking design helps block water intrusion when melt-refreeze cycles occur. (Final snow-load capacity depends on roof structure and local code.) |
| Corrosion resistance: aluminum (won’t rust) | Salt air, coastal humidity, wet climates: aluminum naturally resists rust and corrosion, reducing long-term failure risk in marine or high-moisture environments. |
| Heat / UV durability: baked-on coating system | High heat, intense sun, thermal cycling: coatings resist UV breakdown and temperature-swing fatigue, slowing fading and surface degradation. |

What our customers are saying:
Prompt service and very knowledgeable. Highly recommend.
My wife and I wanted a long-term roof and I think we found it. The product seems very good and are installer Daniel was terrific and a trooper put a lot of hours and a lot of time and made it look real nice when it was completed. I would recommend the company if you're looking for a metal roof.
Ivan Excellent will make it right!!
We needed a roof repair when our neighbors tree dropped a large limb through our roof. Ivan came And accessed The damage, Ordered the sheets we needed. He came back and did the whole Repair himself. So happy to have it fixed along with his recommendations to have the roof cleaned. We appreciate his skills in repairing The roof.
The Interlock associate Ivan, came did an awesome service in correcting the part needed to be corrected, he left us with instructions of what we needed to check and to get in touch with, if needed 😀 Ms. May the associate answering the phone was helpful for us to get prompt service. They are dependable. We received roof service.
The work was efficient and well done. The service, the people and team were great. Beautiful roof.
I highly appreciate the professionalism, workmanship and the quality of materials used. I don't doubt that it will be our forever roof and will not need to worry about replacement during the life of our house. Ross, Tony, Roma were all great throughout the new roof installation process.
We noticed water spots on the ceiling. Ivan came, found a hole likely caused by a branch in the recent wind storm. He repaired the hole on the spot. Thank you Ivan!
Ivan replaced our exhaust vent on the roof that had some leaking issue. We were impressed with his professionalism, courtesy and fixing the problem to our utmost satisfaction. We certainly would recommend him and the company for any roofing issues being it a new roof or repairs.
We recently had our roof replaced with interlock aluminum shingles and we love how it made our house stand out in our neighborhood. I would have given 5 stars but there were few things that I wanted to point out. Ross arrived on time and did an excellent presentation. I specifically asked him if their installers are contractors and his answer was no, they are employees of interlock. Turns out they are contractors which is no big deal as long as they do excellent work, it’s all about honesty. Prior to installation, the installers told me that it would take about two and a half days to finish which is great, I said no rush. The installation process took two weeks, I hope everything will go well this coming rainy season. The only thing I didn’t like was at the end of the day they leave their tools in the driveway just laying around and the worst they leave their microwave plugged into the outlet with damaged power cord. But with all things said, we love our new roof and only time will tell if it was worth the price.
Excellent contact and coordination with field representatives and installers/project manager.
We recently had our roof replaced with aluminum shingles and are very satisfied so far. - Easy Sales Process – Thank you Ross for making everything clear and straightforward from the start. - Great Value – The price was very reasonable compared to other estimates. - Better Than Expected – The finished look exceeded our expectations and really improved the appearance of our home. It’s not as glossy as we feared, which we like. - Fast & Efficient – The crew worked quickly and finished everything in just 2 days for our ~1,000 sq. ft. house with two layers of old shingles. - No Issues – No noise at all, despite common concerns about metal roofs. Tip for others: Ask for the exact model and size of vents that will be installed before the project starts. Our vents were only a few months old but couldn’t be reused, and the ones the company brought were the wrong size. The crew had to buy replacements last minute, which worked but don’t perfectly match.

Metal Roofing FAQs for Homeowners in Megler
The following metal roofing FAQs are designed specifically for homeowners in Megler, Washington. Whether you are building a new home or replacing an existing roof, understanding how roofing materials perform in local weather conditions is essential. From wind and storm protection to fire resistance, hail impact, snow loads, and coastal moisture exposure, Interlock’s Lifetime Aluminum Roofing System is engineered to provide long-term durability, energy efficiency, and peace of mind in Megler.
Does metal roofing handle heavy snow loads? Will ice dams form on my roof in Megler winters?
Metal roofing handles snow exceptionally well because of its light weight and smooth surface. Interlock's Slate profile installs at just 0.41 lb/sq ft—so heavy snow accumulation (Megler averages about 52 cm annually) won't overload your structure like concrete tile would. The panels' four-way interlocking design and tight seams prevent water infiltration during the 11 freeze-thaw cycles your region typically experiences each year. Ice may form, but the smooth metal surface resists ice damming better than asphalt, and snow slides more readily once the sun returns during Megler's 2,892 annual sunshine hours.
Can a metal roof rust in Washington's rainy climate?
Aluminum cannot rust because it contains no iron. Interlock panels are manufactured from roofing-grade 3105-H24 and 3003-H24 aluminum alloy per ASTM B209, which forms a self-healing oxide layer when exposed to air. Even when scratched, this protective layer regenerates automatically. With Megler receiving about 2,211 mm of rain annually, traditional steel would corrode—but aluminum actually improves under wet conditions. The Alunar 70% PVDF fluorocarbon finish applied to both sides of each panel adds 30 years of additional corrosion resistance, making aluminum the only metal roofing choice that truly never rusts.
Is my house strong enough for a metal tile roof, or do I need structural reinforcement?
No structural reinforcement is needed. Interlock's Mediterranean Tile profile weighs just 0.59 lb/sq ft—approximately 96% lighter than concrete or clay tile. This means it installs directly over most existing roofs without costly frame upgrades. Given Megler's wind gusts reaching 122 km/h and annual snowfall around 52 cm, this light weight is crucial: your home can support a durable, weather-resistant roof without the engineering and construction expense that traditional tile demands. The material meets ICC-ES evaluation report ESR-1790 for code compliance across residential applications.
Will my metal roof blow off in Megler's wind storms?
No. Interlock's four-way interlocking panels are warranted to resist wind speeds up to 120 mph (193 km/h) when installed to specification. Pacific County's typical wind gusts reach about 122 km/h, well within the roof's rated capacity. The interlocking design transfers wind load across the entire panel system rather than relying on fasteners alone, and the warranty covers wind performance explicitly. Combined with proper installation by Interlock Metal Roofing (PNW) Inc., which has served this region since 1997, your roof will remain secure even during the region's most severe gusts.
With all the rain in Megler, how do metal roofs prevent leaks?
Megler receives approximately 2,211 mm of rain annually—among the wettest in Washington. Interlock panels' four-way interlocking seams are engineered to shed water aggressively rather than channel it. The tight mechanical connections between panels mean no fastener holes puncture the roof surface, eliminating the primary leak paths in asphalt shingles. Heavy rainfall tests every panel edge, and the design prevents water from being forced upward under wind-driven conditions. Combined with proper deck preparation and underlayment by your local installer, the roof sheds water as effectively as it resists the region's demanding moisture load.
If hail damages my metal roof, will my insurance cover it?
Interlock metal roofing carries a UL 2218 Class 4 impact rating—the highest available—and the warranty covers perforation from hailstones up to 1.5 inches. Class 4 ratings often qualify homeowners for insurance discounts because the roof simply resists damage that would destroy asphalt shingles. When you file a claim, you have documented proof of impact resistance rated by an independent testing authority. Your insurance agent can verify the UL rating, and many carriers reduce premiums for Class 4-rated roofs. Even in the unlikely event of hail larger than 1.5 inches, the aluminum's non-combustibility and durability keep your home protected better than conventional materials.
Is a metal roof worth the upfront cost compared to asphalt shingles?
Metal roofing costs more initially but becomes cheaper over the roof's entire lifespan. An asphalt roof in Megler's wet, freeze-thaw climate (experiencing about 11 freeze-thaw cycles annually) typically lasts 15–20 years before requiring full replacement—a costly tear-off and landfill cycle. Interlock's lifetime limited, non-prorated warranty for the original owner covers rusting, cracking, splitting, and loss of impact resistance. The next owner gains 50 years of protection from the completion date. Over 40–50 years, you avoid multiple asphalt replacements, making metal the last roof you'll buy. Current financing includes no payments and no interest until Spring 2027, or 10% off installation.
How much maintenance does a metal roof require compared to shingles or tile?
Metal roofing requires virtually no maintenance—far less than asphalt, cedar shake, or tile. Asphalt shingles in Megler's rainy climate (2,211 mm annually) develop algae and moss, requiring regular cleaning. Cedar shake splits and curls, especially after 11 freeze-thaw cycles yearly. Concrete tile cracks and traps debris. Interlock aluminum panels resist algae growth, never split or curl, and shed debris naturally. The Alunar coating is CALGreen-verified for reduced maintenance. You'll never pressure-wash, treat, or repair the roof surface. Gutters and trim demand occasional attention, but the roof itself simply performs for decades without intervention.
Is metal roofing fire-safe? Does it protect my home in wildfire conditions?
Yes. Aluminum is non-combustible, and Interlock offers Class A fire classification—the highest rating available—on specified profiles. Class A means the roof will not ignite, flame spread is minimal, and smoke development is low. The material itself cannot fuel a fire. With ICC-ES evaluation report ESR-1790 (reissued 2025 for IBC/IRC compliance), the roof meets current building codes for fire safety. While Megler's climate is temperate and wet (2,211 mm rainfall annually), wildfires occur across Washington. A Class A-rated metal roof provides genuine protection that asphalt cannot match, potentially reducing homeowners insurance costs and protecting your home during regional fire events.
How long does installation take, and can a new metal roof install over my old shingles?
Installation typically takes 3–7 days depending on roof size and complexity. Yes, metal roofing installs directly over existing asphalt shingles in most cases, eliminating expensive tear-off and disposal costs. Interlock Metal Roofing (PNW) Inc., serving this region since 1997, assesses your existing roof during the estimate and confirms whether overlay is possible. The lightweight aluminum (Slate at just 0.41 lb/sq ft) means no structural reinforcement is needed. Your installer removes only loose or damaged shingles, adds underlayment and flashing, then installs the interlocking panels. This streamlined process minimizes disruption and reduces labor cost compared to tear-off replacement, making the project faster and more affordable than traditional roofing.
