Review: February 26, 2019Completion: January 19, 2019

Communication. I was told a crew would come the 2nd week of Jan. & there was no return of my phone calls or an email when they didn't show up then. All of a sudden one day a crew showed up unannounced & were going to Aberdeen to pick up the materials & come back to start the job-- I think this was a couple of weeks later. I cleaned up all the garbage left as the crew had no room to take it with them--they were great guys & very nice & efficient, but I took care of disposal of any bits & pieces of metal as well as a lot of paper stuff that I burnt. We have hired Interlock for numerous "roofs" on our farm over the years & even though the product is very expensive, it is a quality product. Most all of our farm buildings as well as both homes on our farm have Interlock roofs & anyone that visits & asks about the matching roofs, we explain Interlock products to them. Our repeated use of Interlock is quite a picture testimony of various shapes & sizes of Interlock roofing projects from an old 1880's Victorian Farmhouse to our small water pump house!!!

Metal Roofing FAQs for Homeowners in North Cove

The following metal roofing FAQs are designed specifically for homeowners in North Cove, Washington. Whether you are building a new home or replacing an existing roof, understanding how roofing materials perform in local weather conditions is essential. From wind and storm protection to fire resistance, hail impact, snow loads, and coastal moisture exposure, Interlock’s Lifetime Aluminum Roofing System is engineered to provide long-term durability, energy efficiency, and peace of mind in North Cove.

Does metal roofing handle heavy snow and ice in North Cove winters?

Yes. Interlock's four-way interlocking panels shed snow and prevent ice dams that plague asphalt roofs in freeze-thaw cycles. North Cove averages about 52 cm of snow annually with roughly 11 freeze-thaw days per year—conditions where traditional shingles trap moisture and degrade faster. The lightweight aluminum design (Slate at 0.41 lb/sq ft) requires no structural reinforcement, and optional snow guards can be installed if you prefer retained snow for insulation. The panels' smooth, interlocking geometry naturally channels meltwater away.

Will a metal roof leak in North Cove's wet climate?

No. With 2211 mm of annual rainfall, roof performance matters—and Interlock's sealed, four-way interlocking system is designed to shed water continuously without ponding. Each panel locks to its neighbor on all four sides, eliminating the exposed fasteners and seams that trap water in traditional roofing. Installation over a solid deck with underlayment creates a redundant moisture barrier. The ESR-1790 evaluation report confirms compliance with IBC/IRC water-management codes. Proper gutter sizing and slope, installed to spec, make leaks virtually non-existent.

Why won't my metal roof rust in the salty, wet Pacific County environment?

Interlock panels are made from 3105-H24 and 3003-H24 aluminum alloy—aluminum contains no iron, so it cannot rust. Instead, it forms a microscopic oxide layer that self-heals when scratched. The Alunar 70% PVDF fluorocarbon finish is applied to both sides of every panel, offering extra protection in salt air and warranted 30 years against chalking and fading. This dual-coat strategy has proven itself across 25+ years of installations from coastal British Columbia to Antarctic research stations. Steel roofing, by contrast, requires constant maintenance to prevent rust in wet, windy climates like yours.

Can metal roofing withstand North Cove's wind gusts?

Yes. The four-way interlocking system is warranted to resist wind speeds up to 120 mph when installed to spec—well above the typical gusts of about 122 km/h (76 mph) recorded in Pacific County. Each panel locks securely to the one below and beside it, distributing wind load across the entire roof rather than relying on fasteners alone. This redundancy explains why Interlock has protected homes and facilities for 25+ years without documented wind-related failures. Gusts are common in your area, but the interlocking geometry and Guardian Warranty give you certainty.

Do I need to reinforce my home's structure for a metal roof?

No structural reinforcement is needed. Interlock's Mediterranean Tile profile weighs approximately 0.59 lb/sq ft—about 96% lighter than concrete or clay tile—allowing installation directly over most existing roofs without costly frame upgrades. Even the heavier Shake profile (0.58 lb/sq ft) is a fraction of traditional materials. This light weight also reduces strain on your home during North Cove's approximately 2892 annual sunshine hours and thermal expansion cycles. The time and cost savings on structural work, combined with the ability to install over your existing roof, create immediate value.

Does a metal roof reduce hail damage risk and insurance costs?

Yes. Interlock achieves UL 2218 Class 4 impact rating—the highest classification available—and the Guardian Warranty covers perforation from hailstones up to 1.5 inches. While Pacific County doesn't experience frequent hail, the Class 4 rating demonstrates toughness that insurers recognize. Many carriers offer discounts for impact-resistant roofing because aluminum panels distribute impact energy across the interlocking system without cracking, splitting, or losing impact resistance. Contact your insurer about potential savings; the documentation of Class 4 compliance often qualifies you for immediate reductions.

How long will my metal roof last, and what does the warranty really cover?

The Guardian Warranty is a lifetime limited, non-prorated material warranty for the original owner, covering rusting, rotting, splitting, cracking, curling, and loss of impact resistance. It transfers once to the next owner for 50 years from completion, adding long-term resale appeal. With 2211 mm of annual rain and 11 freeze-thaw days, durability directly affects your peace of mind. By contrast, asphalt shingles typically last 15–25 years and require tear-off and landfill disposal. The Interlock aluminum design has been manufactured since 1998 and proven itself across 25+ years of service.

Is a metal roof worth the upfront cost over the life of my home?

Yes. While metal roofing costs more initially, the total cost of ownership over 40+ years favors aluminum. You eliminate repeat tear-off and replacement cycles—asphalt roofs need replacement every 15–25 years, each time creating disposal costs and labor. Interlock's non-prorated lifetime warranty, transferable 50-year coverage, and no-maintenance design eliminate the ongoing expenses of patching, sealing, and re-coating. North Cove's 2211 mm annual rainfall and 11 freeze-thaw cycles accelerate asphalt deterioration. Current financing offers—no payments and no interest until Spring 2027 or 10% off installation—reduce your starting cost. It's the last roof you'll buy.

How much maintenance does a metal roof need in a rainy climate?

Virtually none. Unlike asphalt shingles, which require resealing, patching, and moss removal in wet climates, Interlock aluminum roofing is essentially maintenance-free. The sealed, interlocking panel design prevents water and debris from pooling. The Alunar 70% PVDF finish is rated CALGreen-verified for reduced maintenance and is warranted 30 years against chalking and fading. North Cove's 2211 mm annual rainfall and high humidity would otherwise accelerate shingle degradation, moss growth, and costly repairs. An occasional gutter cleaning is all that's needed. This low-touch design preserves your time and budget over the roof's 40+ year lifespan.

Can I get a metal roof that looks like traditional slate, shake, or tile?

Yes. Interlock offers five authentic profiles: Slate, Cedar Shingle, Shake, Standing Seam, and Mediterranean Tile, each replicating traditional materials with dimensional detail and natural color variation. The Slate profile weighs just 0.41 lb/sq ft but delivers the visual sophistication of quarried slate without the weight or fragility. Cedar Shingle and Shake profiles capture wood-grain detail and shadow lines. The Mediterranean Tile profile (0.59 lb/sq ft) mirrors clay or concrete tile appearance while remaining 96% lighter. All profiles are available in multiple colors and finishes. Your choice combines the aesthetic you want with the durability aluminum provides in North Cove's 2892 annual sunshine hours and high-moisture environment.

Is a metal roof a good choice for North Cove’s climate?

Yes. North Cove averages about 52 cm of snow, 2211 mm of rain, roughly 11 freeze–thaw days a year, with peak wind gusts near 122 km/h. Interlock® aluminum roofing is wind-rated to 193+ km/h (120 mph), UL 2218 Class 4 impact-rated and Class A fire-rated, and its four-way interlocking panels shed snow and resist ice dams and freeze–thaw cracking — all backed by a lifetime limited, transferable warranty.
