Review: February 26, 2019Completion: January 19, 2019

Communication. I was told a crew would come the 2nd week of Jan. & there was no return of my phone calls or an email when they didn't show up then. All of a sudden one day a crew showed up unannounced & were going to Aberdeen to pick up the materials & come back to start the job-- I think this was a couple of weeks later. I cleaned up all the garbage left as the crew had no room to take it with them--they were great guys & very nice & efficient, but I took care of disposal of any bits & pieces of metal as well as a lot of paper stuff that I burnt. We have hired Interlock for numerous "roofs" on our farm over the years & even though the product is very expensive, it is a quality product. Most all of our farm buildings as well as both homes on our farm have Interlock roofs & anyone that visits & asks about the matching roofs, we explain Interlock products to them. Our repeated use of Interlock is quite a picture testimony of various shapes & sizes of Interlock roofing projects from an old 1880's Victorian Farmhouse to our small water pump house!!!

Metal Roofing FAQs for Homeowners in Bay Center

The following metal roofing FAQs are designed specifically for homeowners in Bay Center, Washington. Whether you are building a new home or replacing an existing roof, understanding how roofing materials perform in local weather conditions is essential. From wind and storm protection to fire resistance, hail impact, snow loads, and coastal moisture exposure, Interlock’s Lifetime Aluminum Roofing System is engineered to provide long-term durability, energy efficiency, and peace of mind in Bay Center.

How does a metal roof handle Bay Center's heavy snow and freeze-thaw cycles?

Metal roofs shed snow better than asphalt because aluminum is slippery and expands minimally in cold—important when you're getting about 52 cm of snow yearly alongside roughly 11 freeze-thaw days. The four-way interlocking panels stay watertight through repeated temperature swings because aluminum's oxide layer doesn't crack like asphalt does. Our Interlock system is warranted to 120 mph wind, so the snow load won't stress the panels even when it sticks. You can add snow guards if you want to manage runoff onto walkways.

Will my metal roof leak with Pacific County's 2,200+ mm of annual rain?

No. The four-way interlocking design sheds water by directing it downward and sideways into the seams, which nest and overlap—water can't pool or back up. With 2,211 mm of rain per year, a poorly installed asphalt roof starts failing around year 12; Interlock panels are engineered to ESR-1790 (ICC-ES, reissued 2025) standards for continuous water management. The real test is installation: we've been serving this region since 1997, and our crews know how to pitch valleys and flash chimneys so water finds the gutters, not your attic.

Can a metal roof stand up to Pacific County wind gusts?

Yes—guaranteed to 120 mph wind resistance when installed to specification. Bay Center sees typical daily winds around 19 km/h with gusts pushing 122 km/h, which the Interlock system handles because each panel interlocks four ways (top, bottom, left, right), distributing wind load across the whole assembly rather than letting edges lift. That's why we warranty it at 120 mph even though local gusts occasionally exceed that; the margin exists for safety. Proper fastening and deck preparation are critical—that's where our local experience since 1997 matters.

Is metal roofing worth the upfront cost compared to asphalt shingles?

Metal is the last roof you buy; asphalt is the first you replace. An asphalt roof lasts 15–20 years and costs roughly $8,000–$12,000 to tear off and landfill, then reinstall. Interlock's lifetime limited warranty on material (transferable 50 years to the next owner) means one installation covers two homeownership cycles. With 2,892 sunshine hours yearly, our energy-efficient colors (reflectance up to 0.55) also cut cooling costs. Right now we're offering no payments and no interest until Spring 2027 or 10% off, which narrows the payback window significantly.

Do I need to reinforce my roof structure for metal roofing?

No structural reinforcement is required. Our Slate profile installs at just 0.41 lb/sq ft, and the Mediterranean Tile—which looks like concrete or clay tile—weighs only 0.59 lb/sq ft, making it roughly 96% lighter than actual tile. Most existing wood-frame roofs can carry that load without modification. This also means you can install over your existing asphalt roof, cutting labor time and avoiding a tear-off and landfill fee. In Bay Center's climate of 52 cm snow and 122 km/h gusts, the light weight actually helps: less inertial force fighting wind loads and no extra stress from snow accumulation.

How much upkeep does a metal roof really need?

Virtually none. Unlike asphalt shingles (which curl and lose granules) or wood shake (which rots), aluminum requires no sealant reapplication, no moss treatment, and no patching. Heavy rain and the region's 11 freeze-thaw cycles won't degrade the material. The Alunar 70% PVDF coating is CALGreen-verified for reduced maintenance requirements. Twice a decade, rinse off any debris in your gutters and walk the roof to confirm fasteners are still tight—both standard checks on any roof. That's it. The warranty covers cracking, curling, rotting, and loss of impact resistance, so you're protected against the wear patterns that plague asphalt.

Will a metal roof protect me from hail damage in the Pacific Northwest?

Yes. Interlock holds a UL 2218 Class 4 impact rating—the highest available—and the warranty even covers perforation from hailstones up to 1.5 inches. Class 4 rating means the panel survives 2-inch steel ball drops from 52 inches, so typical regional hail won't dent or puncture it. Many insurance companies offer discounts for Class 4 roofs because claims are rare. Although Bay Center doesn't see severe hail like inland areas, the protection is there. Call your insurer once installed; a metal roof often qualifies for a rate reduction that offsets years of premium.

Is metal roofing actually better for the environment than asphalt?

Yes—aluminum is roughly 95% recyclable, and it ends the asphalt tear-off-to-landfill cycle. Every 15–20 years, a typical asphalt roof becomes 10–15 tons of waste buried locally. Interlock panels, installed once, stay on the roof for 50+ years; at end of life, they're melted down and reused, not dumped. Over a century, one Interlock installation replaces five asphalt roofs worth of landfill impact. With 2,211 mm of rain annually in Bay Center, you're also choosing a material that doesn't leach granules or sealant chemicals into groundwater. That matters when your community relies on local wells and watershed health.

What's the installation timeline for a metal roof in Bay Center?

A standard residential roof takes 2–5 days, depending on square footage and complexity (valleys, dormers, chimneys). We can install directly over your existing asphalt roof, skipping the tear-off—that saves about a day of labor and eliminates disposal costs. Flashing and trim work around penetrations requires precision; our crews have served this region since 1997, so they know how to handle Bay Center's specific building codes and weather patterns. If weather turns (and with 2,211 mm of annual rain, it might), we'll wrap the job and return on schedule. We're currently offering no payments and no interest until Spring 2027, so installation and financing can happen now.

What does Interlock's lifetime warranty actually cover and for how long?

The Guardian Warranty is a lifetime limited material warranty—non-prorated for the original owner—covering rusting, rotting, splitting, cracking, curling, and loss of impact resistance. That means it's not prorated; you're covered dollar-for-dollar for life. It's transferable once to the next owner, who then gets 50 years of coverage from completion. No asphalt or wood roof offers anything close: those degrade predictably after 15–20 years. With Interlock's 30-year coating warranty (Alunar 70% PVDF, measured per ASTM D4214 and D2244) and aluminum that self-heals its oxide layer, you're buying the last roof.

Is a metal roof a good choice for Bay Center’s climate?

Yes. Bay Center averages about 52 cm of snow, 2211 mm of rain, roughly 11 freeze–thaw days a year, with peak wind gusts near 122 km/h. Interlock® aluminum roofing is wind-rated to 193+ km/h (120 mph), UL 2218 Class 4 impact-rated and Class A fire-rated, and its four-way interlocking panels shed snow and resist ice dams and freeze–thaw cracking — all backed by a lifetime limited, transferable warranty.
