Interlock® Aluminum Roofing — all-climates performance specs for Globe, Washington
| Spec / Rating | Climate / Risk Factor + What It Solves |
|---|---|
| Wind resistance: 120+ mph (193+ kph) | Extreme wind, hurricanes, storm uplift: full interlocking attachment helps prevent blow-offs, edge lifting, and panel loss in high-gust events. |
| Fire rating: Class A (with proper assembly) | Wildfire, embers, radiant heat, chimney sparks: non-combustible roof assembly provides the highest residential fire protection rating. |
| Hail resistance: UL 2218 Class 4 | Hail and impact debris: highest impact classification; resists cracking, splitting, and surface loss common with asphalt under hail strikes. |
| Snow & ice performance: interlocking, shedding profile | Heavy snow, freeze-thaw, ice dams: smooth aluminum sheds snow efficiently and the interlocking design helps block water intrusion when melt-refreeze cycles occur. (Final snow-load capacity depends on roof structure and local code.) |
| Corrosion resistance: aluminum (won’t rust) | Salt air, coastal humidity, wet climates: aluminum naturally resists rust and corrosion, reducing long-term failure risk in marine or high-moisture environments. |
| Heat / UV durability: baked-on coating system | High heat, intense sun, thermal cycling: coatings resist UV breakdown and temperature-swing fatigue, slowing fading and surface degradation. |

Communication. I was told a crew would come the 2nd week of Jan. & there was no return of my phone calls or an email when they didn't show up then. All of a sudden one day a crew showed up unannounced & were going to Aberdeen to pick up the materials & come back to start the job-- I think this was a couple of weeks later. I cleaned up all the garbage left as the crew had no room to take it with them--they were great guys & very nice & efficient, but I took care of disposal of any bits & pieces of metal as well as a lot of paper stuff that I burnt. We have hired Interlock for numerous "roofs" on our farm over the years & even though the product is very expensive, it is a quality product. Most all of our farm buildings as well as both homes on our farm have Interlock roofs & anyone that visits & asks about the matching roofs, we explain Interlock products to them. Our repeated use of Interlock is quite a picture testimony of various shapes & sizes of Interlock roofing projects from an old 1880's Victorian Farmhouse to our small water pump house!!!

Metal Roofing FAQs for Homeowners in Globe
The following metal roofing FAQs are designed specifically for homeowners in Globe, Washington. Whether you are building a new home or replacing an existing roof, understanding how roofing materials perform in local weather conditions is essential. From wind and storm protection to fire resistance, hail impact, snow loads, and coastal moisture exposure, Interlock’s Lifetime Aluminum Roofing System is engineered to provide long-term durability, energy efficiency, and peace of mind in Globe.
Will a metal roof handle Globe's snow and ice the way asphalt shingles do?
Metal roofs shed snow and ice more effectively than asphalt because the smooth, hard surface prevents ice dams and reduces snow load accumulation. Globe averages about 49 cm of snow annually with roughly 34 freeze-thaw cycles per year—conditions that crack and curl asphalt shingles but have no effect on aluminum's four-way interlocking panels. The lightweight design (0.41 lb per square foot for the Slate profile) means no structural reinforcement is needed, and snow guard systems can be added if additional control is desired.
Why does aluminum never rust, and why does that matter in Pacific County?
Aluminum cannot rust because it contains no iron—the element that oxidizes and corrodes. Instead, aluminum develops a microscopically thin oxide layer that self-heals when scratched, offering permanent corrosion resistance even in wet climates. With Globe's 1578 mm of annual rainfall and moisture-laden Pacific County air, steel roofing requires ongoing maintenance to prevent rust staining and structural degradation. Interlock's 3105-H24 and 3003-H24 aluminum alloy, coated with Alunar 70% PVDF on both sides, needs no sealant or paint touch-ups for the life of your roof.
How does a metal roof handle Pacific County's winter gusts?
Interlock's four-way interlocking panels are warranted to resist winds up to 120 mph when installed to specification, and that engineering directly addresses Globe's typical wind gusts of 103 km/h (64 mph). The mechanical interlock between panels—not fasteners alone—distributes wind load across the entire roof system, preventing the panel flutter or lift that can expose asphalt or composite roofs to water infiltration. Your roof remains watertight through the seasonal storms Pacific County experiences.
Can a metal roof actually survive hail without denting, and will my insurance notice?
Interlock metal roofing carries a UL 2218 Class 4 impact rating—the highest available—and the Guardian Warranty covers perforation from hailstones up to 1.5 inches. That means no perforation, no leak risk, and no cosmetic damage claims in typical hail events. Many insurers recognize the durability difference and offer premium discounts for non-combustible, impact-resistant metal roofing. Contact your agent with Interlock's ICC-ES ESR-1790 evaluation and UL 2218 Class 4 rating to explore potential savings.
What makes Interlock's warranty different from other metal roof or asphalt guarantees?
The Guardian Warranty is a lifetime limited, non-prorated material warranty for the original owner—covering rusting, rotting, splitting, cracking, curling, and loss of impact resistance with no deductible. It is also one-time transferable, granting the next owner a 50-year warranty from completion date. No asphalt roof offers transferability; most have 15–25 year prorated terms that decline year by year. For a home you plan to keep or sell, this warranty structure means your roofing investment never depreciates in coverage strength.
Is it true metal tile roofs are light enough to install over my existing asphalt roof?
Yes. The Interlock Mediterranean Tile profile weighs approximately 0.59 lb per square foot—about 96% lighter than concrete or clay tile—so no structural reinforcement is needed. You can often install it directly over your existing asphalt shingles, eliminating the cost and landfill impact of a tear-off. Globe's 1578 mm annual rainfall and 49 cm snow load pose no structural concern with aluminum at this weight. Your framing carries it safely, and the installation is faster because existing roof removal is not required.
How does a metal roof prevent leaks in a wet climate like Globe?
The four-way interlocking panels create a mechanical seal that sheds water even in heavy rainfall; water cannot flow sideways into seams or under panels. Combined with proper underlayment and a solid deck, Interlock roofs are installed over a 1/2-inch plywood base that provides continuous drainage and support. Globe receives about 1578 mm of rain annually—well above the US average—and metal roofs manage it through slope and overlap design rather than relying on sealant or adhesive that weathers and fails. Installation to the ICC-ES ESR-1790 specification ensures leak-free performance through decades of Pacific County storms.
Will I be cleaning gutters and doing roof maintenance every year?
No. Metal roofs require far less maintenance than asphalt, wood shake, or tile. There's no granule loss, no algae growth to pressure-wash, no cracked tiles to replace, and no seasonal sealant reapplication. You may clear leaves from gutters after autumn, but the roof itself is maintenance-free. Interlock's Alunar 70% PVDF coating resists chalking and fading for a warranted 30 years (ASTM D4214/D2244 measured), so your roof's finish remains stable through Globe's 2757 annual sunshine hours and frequent rain cycles without intervention.
Is a metal roof actually better for the environment than asphalt?
Yes. Aluminum roofing is approximately 95% recyclable and can be reclaimed at end of life for new products with zero waste to landfill. Asphalt shingles, by contrast, generate millions of tons of tear-off waste annually. Over a 50-year lifespan, you'll never replace an Interlock roof, so you avoid the environmental cost of multiple tear-offs, haul-away, and landfill disposal that a homeowner with asphalt faces. CALGreen building standards recognize metal roofing for reduced maintenance and material sustainability—a choice that aligns with long-term environmental responsibility.
Can I get a metal roof that looks like slate, cedar shake, or tile without the cost or maintenance?
Yes. Interlock offers five profiles—Slate, Cedar Shingle, Shake, Mediterranean Tile, and Standing Seam—each manufactured from the same 3105-H24 aluminum alloy and 30-year Alunar coating. The texture and shadow lines replicate high-end materials convincingly from street view, but you receive aluminum's durability and zero maintenance. Choose Slate or Cedar Shingle for a traditional residential look, Shake for dimensional character, Mediterranean Tile for architectural presence, or Standing Seam for modern or commercial aesthetics. All profiles perform identically in hail (UL 2218 Class 4), wind (120 mph warranty), and rain—the look is purely your choice.
Is a metal roof a good choice for Globe’s climate?
Yes. Globe averages about 49 cm of snow, 1578 mm of rain, roughly 34 freeze–thaw days a year, with peak wind gusts near 103 km/h. Interlock® aluminum roofing is wind-rated to 193+ km/h (120 mph), UL 2218 Class 4 impact-rated and Class A fire-rated, and its four-way interlocking panels shed snow and resist ice dams and freeze–thaw cracking — all backed by a lifetime limited, transferable warranty.
