Review: October 14, 2025

We recently had our roof replaced with interlock aluminum shingles and we love how it made our house stand out in our neighborhood. I would have given 5 stars but there were few things that I wanted to point out. Ross arrived on time and did an excellent presentation. I specifically asked him if their installers are contractors and his answer was no, they are employees of interlock. Turns out they are contractors which is no big deal as long as they do excellent work, it’s all about honesty. Prior to installation, the installers told me that it would take about two and a half days to finish which is great, I said no rush. The installation process took two weeks, I hope everything will go well this coming rainy season. The only thing I didn’t like was at the end of the day they leave their tools in the driveway just laying around and the worst they leave their microwave plugged into the outlet with damaged power cord. But with all things said, we love our new roof and only time will tell if it was worth the price.

Review: July 22, 2007

We are writing this letter to show our appreciation for the wonderful job that was done on our roof. From the date your company representative met with us in our home to the date of completion, words cannot express how completely satisfied we are with your company. We definitely wanted a quality roof and were very impressed by the representation that was given to us. The product you provide was enough for us to make our decision, however it was a huge plus not to have to deal with a pushy salesman and to have such polite, friendly and hard working men providing the service. It was a pleasure to have them around our home. The quality, craftsmanship and lifetime warranty of this ">roof far outweighs the increased costs over other roof systems. However, other roof systems don't come with lifetime warranties and many only last for 8 to 10 years. We may have paid a little more initially, but how wonderful it is to know we will never have to re-roof our home again. And in addition to all of the above, it looks so beautiful and has added so much style to our home. I never dreamed a roof could make such a difference. Again, Thank you so much and be sure to know we will highly recommend your company to all of our family and friends.

Metal Roofing FAQs for Homeowners in Meadowdale

The following metal roofing FAQs are designed specifically for homeowners in Meadowdale, Washington. Whether you are building a new home or replacing an existing roof, understanding how roofing materials perform in local weather conditions is essential. From wind and storm protection to fire resistance, hail impact, snow loads, and coastal moisture exposure, Interlock’s Lifetime Aluminum Roofing System is engineered to provide long-term durability, energy efficiency, and peace of mind in Meadowdale.

How does a metal roof handle heavy snow in Meadowdale?

Metal roofs shed snow and ice more effectively than asphalt because their smooth, interlocking aluminum surface prevents ice dams from forming. Meadowdale receives about 33 cm of snow annually with roughly 21 freeze-thaw cycles per year, creating the exact conditions where ice damming costs homeowners thousands in water damage. Interlock's four-way interlocking panels rated to 120 mph wind resistance won't lift or separate when snow shifts. Optional snow guards can be added if you prefer to retain snow for insulation. The lightweight design (Cedar Shingle at 0.41 lb/sq ft) means no structural reinforcement is needed, regardless of snow load.

Will a metal roof leak in Meadowdale's heavy rain?

No. Meadowdale averages about 1280 mm of rain yearly, and metal roofs are specifically engineered to handle continuous moisture. The four-way interlocking aluminum panels overlap so water runs down and away from seams rather than into them. Interlock panels are installed over solid decking with underlayment—the same base used under asphalt shingles—which provides the redundant protection you need. The Guardian warranty covers perforation and corrosion; aluminum cannot rust because it contains no iron and its oxide layer self-heals when scratched. Proper installation by Interlock Metal Roofing (PNW) Inc. ensures water management for the life of the roof.

Why is aluminum roofing better than steel in a wet climate?

Aluminum cannot rust because it contains no iron. Steel roofs require paint and sealants that degrade, eventually exposing bare steel to moisture—a critical problem in Meadowdale's 1280 mm annual rainfall and coastal-influenced humidity. Interlock uses roofing-grade 3105-H24 and 3003-H24 aluminum alloy (ASTM B209) with a Alunar 70% PVDF fluorocarbon coating on both sides, warranted 30 years against chalking and fading. When aluminum is scratched, its oxide layer self-heals, providing passive protection steel cannot match. This same aluminum formula has been installed since 1998 from coastal salt-air homes to Antarctic research stations—environments far harsher than Snohomish County.

Can a metal roof withstand Meadowdale's wind gusts?

Yes. Meadowdale experiences typical daily-max winds of about 15 km/h with gusts reaching 101 km/h, well within the 193 km/h (120 mph) wind resistance Interlock's four-way interlocking aluminum panels are warranted to handle. The overlapping design locks panels together so wind cannot lift or separate them; individual panels have no exposed fasteners for wind to catch. Interlock has been installed in regions with far stronger wind loads since 1997. The Guardian warranty covers wind damage when installed to specification. This structural integrity also means your roof won't move or rattle during the storms that are typical for Snohomish County.

Does a metal roof provide hail protection in Meadowdale?

Interlock metal roofing achieves UL 2218 Class 4 impact rating—the highest classification available. The warranty even covers perforation from hailstones up to 1.5 inches, which protects you against damage that would require claims on asphalt or wood shakes. Class 4 rating combined with the non-combustible aluminum material may qualify you for homeowners insurance discounts; contact your agent with the ICC-ES evaluation report ESR-1790 and Intertek listing 33876. Meadowdale's freeze-thaw cycles (about 21 per year) stress roofing materials repeatedly, but Interlock's impact resistance does not degrade over time. The warranty covers loss of impact resistance, ensuring long-term durability.

Can my house support a metal roof without expensive reinforcement?

Yes. Interlock's aluminum panels are extraordinarily light. The Mediterranean Tile profile, which replicates the aesthetic of concrete or clay tile, weighs about 0.59 lb/sq ft—roughly 96% lighter than real tile. Cedar Shingle and Shake profiles are even lighter. Because no structural reinforcement is required, installation typically proceeds over your existing roof, avoiding the cost and mess of a tear-off. This matters in Meadowdale because you avoid asphalt shingles being hauled to landfill; the aluminum is ~95% recyclable at end of life. The lightweight design also means faster installation and lower labor costs, making the total project timeline and expense more predictable.

Does a metal roof reduce heating and cooling costs in Meadowdale?

Interlock's energy-efficient colors reflect solar heat that asphalt absorbs, reducing cooling costs year-round. In Meadowdale's 2931 annual sunshine hours, reflective coatings with thermal emissivity of 0.84 and solar reflectance up to 0.55 (Aged Copper Penny) keep your attic cooler, lowering air-conditioning demand in summer and reducing heat loss through the roof in winter. The Cool Roof Rating Council rating confirms measurable performance. Metal roofing also accelerates heat loss on clear nights compared to asphalt, which radiates long-wave energy differently. Over the 40+ year lifespan of Interlock roofing, even a modest reduction in HVAC runtime compounds into substantial energy savings. The Guardian warranty covers no loss of reflective properties, so energy benefits persist.

What warranty comes with Interlock metal roofing?

The Guardian warranty is a lifetime limited, non-prorated material warranty for the original owner—it covers rusting, rotting, splitting, cracking, curling, and loss of impact resistance with no degradation schedule. The warranty transfers once to the next owner, who receives coverage for 50 years from completion. This means if you sell, the new owner gets five decades of protection, which increases your home's appeal and resale value. Non-prorated coverage means a claim in year 30 receives the same consideration as year 1, unlike asphalt shingles where warranty value drops annually. Interlock roofing has been manufactured in Delta, BC since 1998 with the same durability standards, so warranty terms reflect real-world performance across thousands of installations.

How much maintenance does a metal roof require?

Virtually none compared to asphalt, wood shake, or clay tile. Interlock aluminum does not rot, split, curl, or require resealing. Debris clears naturally when rain falls (Meadowdale receives about 1280 mm annually). The Alunar 70% PVDF fluorocarbon finish, warranted 30 years against fading and chalking, does not degrade like asphalt sealants or wood stains. Wood shakes need treatment every 5-10 years; clay tile requires mortar repair; asphalt shingles fail within 15-20 years. Interlock performs on the schedule you set, not on a damage-driven cycle. The CALGreen-verified design specifically acknowledges reduced maintenance burden. Over a 50-year ownership horizon, the absence of maintenance costs and emergency repairs makes metal roofing the lower-total-cost option.

What styles of metal roofing does Interlock offer?

Interlock manufactures five profiles: Slate, Cedar Shingle, Shake, Standing Seam, and Mediterranean Tile. Each uses four-way interlocking aluminum panels, so you choose based on the aesthetic you prefer—whether traditional standing seam or the dimensional appearance of natural materials. Cedar Shingle and Shake profiles suit Pacific Northwest homes. Mediterranean Tile works for transitional or contemporary designs. Slate and Standing Seam complement modern or historical architecture. All profiles use the same roofing-grade aluminum alloy (ASTM B209) with identical Alunar coating and warranty. Interlock Metal Roofing (PNW) Inc. has served this region since 1997 and can advise which profile fits your home's style and local architectural context.
