Review: October 14, 2025

We recently had our roof replaced with interlock aluminum shingles and we love how it made our house stand out in our neighborhood. I would have given 5 stars but there were few things that I wanted to point out. Ross arrived on time and did an excellent presentation. I specifically asked him if their installers are contractors and his answer was no, they are employees of interlock. Turns out they are contractors which is no big deal as long as they do excellent work, it’s all about honesty. Prior to installation, the installers told me that it would take about two and a half days to finish which is great, I said no rush. The installation process took two weeks, I hope everything will go well this coming rainy season. The only thing I didn’t like was at the end of the day they leave their tools in the driveway just laying around and the worst they leave their microwave plugged into the outlet with damaged power cord. But with all things said, we love our new roof and only time will tell if it was worth the price.

Review: August 23, 2025

We recently had our roof replaced with aluminum shingles and are very satisfied so far. - Easy Sales Process – Thank you Ross for making everything clear and straightforward from the start. - Great Value – The price was very reasonable compared to other estimates. - Better Than Expected – The finished look exceeded our expectations and really improved the appearance of our home. It’s not as glossy as we feared, which we like. - Fast & Efficient – The crew worked quickly and finished everything in just 2 days for our ~1,000 sq. ft. house with two layers of old shingles. - No Issues – No noise at all, despite common concerns about metal roofs. Tip for others: Ask for the exact model and size of vents that will be installed before the project starts. Our vents were only a few months old but couldn’t be reused, and the ones the company brought were the wrong size. The crew had to buy replacements last minute, which worked but don’t perfectly match.

Metal Roofing FAQs for Homeowners in Taunton

The following metal roofing FAQs are designed specifically for homeowners in Taunton, Washington. Whether you are building a new home or replacing an existing roof, understanding how roofing materials perform in local weather conditions is essential. From wind and storm protection to fire resistance, hail impact, snow loads, and coastal moisture exposure, Interlock’s Lifetime Aluminum Roofing System is engineered to provide long-term durability, energy efficiency, and peace of mind in Taunton.

Does a metal roof handle Taunton's heavy snow and freeze-thaw cycles?

Yes—aluminum's smooth, interlocking design sheds snow effectively, and the metal's thermal properties help prevent ice dams. Taunton averages about 75 cm of snow and experiences roughly 84 freeze-thaw days annually, making durability critical. Interlock panels are warranted to resist wind gusts up to 120 mph, which protects against the dynamic stress of snow loading and ice shift. Unlike asphalt, which becomes brittle in repeated freeze-thaw cycles, aluminum flexes without cracking or curling, keeping your roof sealed year after year.

Can aluminum roofing rust in Washington's wet climate?

Aluminum cannot rust because it contains no iron—the element that causes rust in steel. Instead, aluminum develops a self-healing oxide layer that protects the metal even when scratched. Taunton receives about 1,194 mm of rainfall annually, so corrosion resistance matters. Interlock panels use roofing-grade 3105-H24 aluminum alloy with a two-sided Alunar 70% PVDF fluorocarbon finish, warranted 30 years against chalking and fading. This two-sided coating is especially valuable in high-moisture regions, giving you peace of mind in wet Washington weather without the rust maintenance that steel roofs require.

How does a metal roof hold up to Taunton's freeze-thaw weather?

Metal roofs outperform traditional materials through the freeze-thaw cycle because aluminum expands and contracts uniformly without developing stress cracks. With about 84 freeze-thaw days per year in Taunton, material resilience is essential. Interlock's four-way interlocking panels move as one system, preventing the splitting, cracking, and curling that plague asphalt and wood shingles. The lightweight aluminum construction—the Shingle at just 0.41 lb/sq ft—reduces structural stress from repeated thermal cycling, and the lifetime limited warranty covers cracking and curling, so you're protected through decades of Washington winters.

Will my metal roof stay secure in Taunton's windstorms?

Interlock metal roofing is warranted to resist wind speeds up to 120 mph when installed to specification, well above Taunton's typical gust speeds of about 135 km/h (84 mph). The four-way interlocking aluminum panels lock together mechanically, distributing wind load across the entire roof system rather than relying on fasteners or adhesives alone. This design has proven in coastal salt-air installations and remote research stations worldwide. Your warranty covers wind resistance, and the ICC-ES evaluation report ESR-1790 confirms compliance with current building codes, so you and your insurer can trust the engineering.

Does metal roofing help with hail damage and insurance costs?

Interlock metal roofing carries a UL 2218 Class 4 impact rating—the highest available—and your warranty covers perforation from hailstones up to 1.5 inches. This top-tier resilience often qualifies you for insurance discounts or premium reductions on homeowners' policies. Grant County and surrounding regions experience hail risk, and aluminum's non-dent performance at Class 4 level exceeds what asphalt or wood can offer. With a lifetime limited warranty backing impact resistance, you avoid the repair cycles and claims history that drive premiums up on shingle roofs. Check with your insurer about the specific savings; many recognize Interlock's durability as a risk reducer.

Is a metal roof worth the upfront cost compared to asphalt shingles?

A metal roof is the last roof you buy—Interlock carries a lifetime limited, non-prorated warranty for the original owner (transferable 50 years for the next owner), while asphalt requires replacement every 15–25 years. Over 50 years, the cost per year of ownership drops dramatically when you factor in one installation versus three or four tear-off cycles, disposal fees, and labor inflation. Interlock's lightweight design installs over most existing roofs, avoiding expensive tear-off. Today's financing—no payments and no interest until Spring 2027 or 10% off installation—makes the transition accessible. The math favors metal: one permanent investment beats recurring asphalt replacements.

How long does installation take, and can a metal roof go over my old shingles?

Installation timelines vary by roof size and weather, but Interlock Metal Roofing (PNW) Inc. has served the region since 1997 and can provide specific scheduling for your home. One major advantage: the panels' extraordinary lightness—the Tile profile at about 0.59 lb/sq ft is roughly 96% lighter than concrete or clay tile—allows installation directly over most existing asphalt roofs without structural reinforcement. This avoids the cost and waste of a tear-off and keeps your home protected sooner. Your local installer assesses your deck during a consultation and explains whether an overlay or teardown best suits your roof structure and local code requirements.

What maintenance does a metal roof actually need?

Interlock aluminum roofing requires far less maintenance than asphalt, wood shake, or tile. A simple annual rinse to clear leaves and debris is usually sufficient; the smooth, sloped panels self-shed water and dirt. Unlike asphalt, which hardens and cracks in Taunton's roughly 3,062 annual sunshine hours and recurring freeze-thaw cycles, aluminum stays flexible. Unlike wood shake, it cannot rot or split. Unlike tile, it cannot crack. The two-sided Alunar finish resists fading and chalking for 30 years, backed by warranty. CALGreen verification confirms reduced maintenance needs. Most owners find themselves doing less work than they did managing asphalt leaks and repairs—and enjoying a roof that outlasts the house.

Can a metal roof actually reduce cooling costs in summer?

Yes—Interlock's energy-efficient colors feature thermal emissivity up to 0.84 and solar reflectance up to 0.55, reflecting sunlight and heat that dark asphalt absorbs. Taunton's roughly 3,062 hours of annual sunshine make this reflectivity meaningful over time. Cool Roof Rating Council certification confirms the energy benefit. Lighter-colored metal roofs stay 20–40°F cooler than asphalt under direct sun, reducing attic heat and lowering air-conditioning demand. While Taunton's mild mean temperature of 11.1°C limits summer cooling to certain months, the reflective coating also protects the roof from UV degradation and extends your 30-year coating warranty. The energy savings compound across decades—another advantage that favors metal over the roof's full lifetime.

Is metal roofing actually better for the environment?

Yes. Interlock panels are roughly 95% recyclable aluminum, and at the end of their extraordinary lifespan, they enter the recycling stream instead of a landfill. Asphalt shingles, by contrast, generate millions of tons of landfill waste annually in North America—a cycle you break by choosing metal once. Manufacturing aluminum does require energy, but the one-time installation versus three or four tear-and-replace cycles over 50–75 years means fewer trucks, fewer workers, and far less waste overall. The lightweight design also reduces transportation emissions. By choosing Interlock, you end the asphalt tear-off-to-landfill cycle and invest in a roof that aligns with long-term sustainability goals while protecting your Taunton home through decades of rain, snow, and wind.
