Review: June 10, 2016Completion: March 1, 2016

I am very disgusted with what happen in terms of what the salesperson told me I was going to get. My neighbor has the same roof and said that he had a good job Interlock was over sold and under delivered in terms of what they promised. I think they could have improved on customer service, follow up, letting the customer know when the start dates change, and the installers should be more prideful in their work. I called back several times about when they were going to start the work. I was told by the contractor that my problems would be forward to the office but no one in the office knew about my problems. I know foresee that I will have issues down the road because it was not put on properly. I think they should do it right the first time and do exactly what they say they will do. Some of my concerns and issues are based on what I have gone through. I don't want anyone else to go through this. I feel that there might be some customers who don't speak up and will just let things slide by and that isn't right. The owner doesn't know what the people are costing his company by the lack of workmanship and quality of work and customer service. When people get this kind of service they will never use that company again. I told Jennifer that they gave me a Mercedes roof but had installers for Ikea install it. My neighbor feels bad for recommending them to me.I work at home and I am most of the time. The last day they completed the job no one told me that it was going to be the last day. I was two hours away when I got the call that it was the last day and they were done and I needed to sign paperwork. He wanted me to walk around the property to look at the work but by the time I got home the sun had already set and I couldn't see anything. I refused to sign off on the work.

I would love to do it, but I can't justify spending that much money. I love the product, but I'd have to win some money to afford it. I like the sales pitch, and the salesman, but it cost too much. They have a unique product, and the design is good.

We are writing to thank your company for the wonderful new roof installation that we have. It is refreshing in today's business world to be able to have a company say and do exactly what is expected of them. Your sales representative, Robert Allen, was very knowledgeable and informative about the product and the installation of it. He was not an aggressive salesman, which we appreciated. The installers were the BEST! Dmitry, Leonid and Danny were the hardest working men we have ever had work on anything that we have ever had done at our house. They worked every moment that they were here, and the most severe conditions. The job was finished in a timely manor. We definitely will recommend your company to our friends.

I’m not sure who to best direct this letter of appreciation to but I’m assuming it will be shared with Interlock officials. As briefly mentioned in an email to you we are thrilled with everything. From our initial deliberations in choosing Interlock to the completion of the project we have been impressed. We have completed many remodeling projects in our home. Replacing a roof certainly would be considered major. To know that we will not need to worry about replacing it is very comforting, not to mention the impressive appearance and worth it has added to our home and neighborhood. We would be remiss if we didn’t mention the extraordinary work and work habits of Nazar. Committed, exacting, attention to detail, particular are words that immediately come to mind. His knowledge and work ethic are off the scale – long work days, mindful of what needs doing next (particularly with vagaries of spring weather) are noteworthy. He’s a gem you can absolutely depend on. We await our first major nasty weather event to put this all to test – one that we were very confident about. Thank you once again. It is reassuring to know we will benefit so nicely from the superior workmanship and quality of the roofing products.

My wife and I wanted you to know that we are very pleased with the new Interlock shingle roof recently installed on our twenty year old home. The color matches the rest of our home and the shingles look tremendous. While we knew we needed a new roof and we we looked at a number of different options and contractors, we believed that selecting your company was without a doubt a winner in every respect. We became aware of your product through the website of the ">Metal Roofing Alliance that led us to your company's own web page. Subsequently, we met with Mr. Robert Allen, Regional Marketing Coordinator of New York's Best Roof, Inc., who fully addressed all of our questions and was readily available throughout the process. Installation was also handled in a very professional manner, and we could not ask for better assistance from either Mr. Allen or the installation crew of New York's Best Roof, Inc. We look forward to many happy years under the security of our new aluminum shingle roof, and would gladly recommend your product and the team from New York's Best Roof, Inc. to anyone. We are also very pleased with the energy savings, maintenance free characteristics and environmentally friendly aspects of our new ">aluminum roof.

To: Interlock / New York's Best Roof My husband and I wanted to write to you to let you know how pleased we are with our entire experience working with Interlock. We now have a beautiful new roof and the process was totally professional and first rate. We first learned about Interlock from information received in the mail. However Mr. Robert Allen, our sales coordinator, gave a very thorough, knowledgeable presentation of the roofing product, answering our questions, showing samples and leaving us with written materials we could look over at our leisure. Mr. Allen was always a phone call away to answer our questions, returning our calls if not the same day certainly with a 24-hour period. Once we decided to purchase an Interlock roof, the time frame spelled out in the contract was adhered to. Financing was available and Mr. Patrick Doyle worked very diligently to get us the best rate of interest available to us. Whatever concerns we had were addressed and the paperwork was simple and straightforward. The installment crew was professional, courteous and hardworking. Our roof was done in 2 1/2 days and clean-up was always done at the end of each day. The crew always spoke with my husband in a polite, unobtrusive manner and did whatever it took to make the installation as easy as possible. Now not only do we have a great looking roof with a 50-year " title="warranty" data-wpil-keyword-link="linked">warranty, we also bought a great product. The roofing itself creates minimal waste and is recyclable. It reflects the sun in the summer so our air conditioning works more efficiently. In the winter we no longer have to snow rake the roof, the snow melts off automatically. Our house now seems quieter, even our 14 year old son remarked he didn't know it was raining until the rain hit the windows. Our new roof gives our house a more finished look and according to our tax expert, ">metal roofs are tax-deductible! My husband and I can not only say enough positive things about interlock. We would highly recommend their product and company to anyone considering a new roof. Drive by and see the finished product!

Metal Roofing FAQs for Homeowners in Northport

The following metal roofing FAQs are designed specifically for homeowners in Northport, New York. Whether you are building a new home or replacing an existing roof, understanding how roofing materials perform in local weather conditions is essential. From wind and storm protection to fire resistance, hail impact, snow loads, and coastal moisture exposure, Interlock’s Lifetime Aluminum Roofing System is engineered to provide long-term durability, energy efficiency, and peace of mind in Northport.

Will a metal roof hold up to freeze-thaw cycles in a Northport winter?

Yes—aluminum actually performs better in freeze-thaw conditions than materials that absorb water. Northport experiences about 66 freeze-thaw days per year, and your roof endures roughly 1251 mm of annual rainfall. Aluminum cannot rust or rot because it contains no iron; its oxide layer self-heals when scratched. Unlike asphalt shingles, which absorb moisture and crack under repeated freezing, or wood shakes, which split, Interlock's 3105-H24 / 3003-H24 aluminum alloy simply contracts and expands without degradation. The 30-year Alunar fluorocarbon coating protects both panel sides against the salt air that accelerates corrosion in coastal climates.

How does an aluminum metal roof handle heavy snow and ice buildup?

Northport receives about 63 cm of snow annually, and the lightweight design of Interlock panels actually prevents the structural dangers that snow causes on heavier roofs. The Cedar Shingle profile weighs roughly 0.41 lb per sq ft—so light that snow load concerns disappear compared to traditional slate or concrete tile. The four-way interlocking system keeps panels locked together even as thermal expansion and contraction occur, preventing gaps where ice can accumulate. Optional snow guards are available to manage slides in the 135 km/h gusts your region experiences. The smooth, sloped design sheds water efficiently, reducing ice dam formation common with asphalt.

Can a metal roof survive the nor'easters and wind gusts in Suffolk County?

Interlock roofs are warranted to resist winds up to 120 mph (193 km/h), well above the 135 km/h gusts Northport typically experiences. The four-way interlocking aluminum panels create a unified system that locks each piece to its neighbors—wind cannot separate or lift individual shingles the way it lifts asphalt tabs. The design is proven across thousands of installations from Atlantic coastal salt-air homes to extreme wind regions. When installed to specification over a solid deck and felt underlayment, the panels meet ICC-ES ESR-1790 standards for modern building codes (reissued 2025). Your local installer, Interlock Roofing of America, has served the region since 2014 and understands Suffolk County's weather demands.

What hail protection does an aluminum roof offer, and could it lower my insurance?

Interlock metal roofing earns UL 2218 Class 4 impact rating—the highest available—and the warranty even covers perforation from hailstones up to 1.5 inches. Class 4 is the same standard that satisfies insurers' criteria for impact-resistant roofing. Many insurers offer discounts on premiums for Class 4-rated roofs because claims data shows they resist damage that would total an asphalt roof. This matters in Northport: while hail isn't daily weather, the combination of 63 cm annual snowfall and about 3115 sunshine hours creates convective conditions that can spawn hail. Contact your insurer with the UL 2218 Class 4 rating to explore potential premium reductions over your roof's lifetime.

Why won't an aluminum roof rust like steel roofing in a coastal climate?

Aluminum cannot rust because it contains no iron—iron is what oxidizes into rust. Instead, aluminum develops an invisible oxide layer that actually protects the metal beneath, and this layer self-heals when scratched. Northport's salt air accelerates corrosion in steel and iron-based metals, but aluminum naturally resists it. Interlock panels are manufactured from roofing-grade 3105-H24 / 3003-H24 aluminum alloy (ASTM B209) and coated with Alunar 70% PVDF fluorocarbon finish on both sides—extra protection against the salty environment. The coating carries a 30-year warranty against chalking and fading. This dual defense means your roof remains structurally sound through decades of coastal weather.

Do I need to reinforce my roof structure to support a metal roof?

No structural reinforcement is needed because Interlock panels are extraordinarily light. The Cedar Shingle profile installs at about 0.41 lb per sq ft, while the Mediterranean Tile profile—which replicates the look of heavy clay or concrete tile—weighs only about 0.59 lb per sq ft. The Tile is roughly 96% lighter than actual concrete or clay tile, yet delivers identical aesthetics. Because aluminum weighs so little, it installs directly over most existing roofs without adding dangerous load. This matters in Northport, where combined snow (63 cm annually) and rainfall (about 1251 mm) already stress older homes. Your local installer, Interlock Roofing of America, will assess your deck and confirm installation details.

How does a metal roof protect against heavy rain and prevent leaks?

Northport receives about 1251 mm of rain yearly, and Interlock's four-way interlocking panels shed water faster than asphalt or single-layer systems. Each panel locks to its neighbors on all four sides, preventing gaps where water can penetrate. When installed over a solid deck and felt underlayment (standard practice), the system creates redundant barriers against water entry. The sloped panel profiles direct runoff toward gutters rather than pooling it. Because aluminum is non-porous and will not absorb, rot, or swell when wet—unlike wood or asphalt—the barrier remains effective for decades. The Guardian warranty covers leaking, so you're protected against installation defects.

How much maintenance does an aluminum metal roof actually require?

Interlock roofs require far less maintenance than asphalt, wood, or traditional tile. Asphalt shingles demand regular inspections, gutter cleaning after every storm, and replacement of damaged tabs; wood shakes need treatment against rot and insects; clay or concrete tile requires re-grouting and individual replacement. Aluminum does not rot, split, curl, or absorb water. Routine care means clearing debris from gutters and downspouts (important in Northport's 1251 mm annual rainfall) and occasional gentle washing to remove salt deposits. The Alunar 70% PVDF coating is CALGreen-verified for reduced maintenance. No repainting, no structural repairs, no seasonal sealing. Many owners go years without any roof maintenance.

Will an aluminum roof reduce my cooling costs in summer?

Yes, if you choose an energy-efficient color. Interlock offers reflective finishes with solar reflectance up to 0.55 (Aged Copper Penny) and thermal emissivity of 0.84, both rated by the Cool Roof Rating Council. These colors reflect sunlight rather than absorbing it like dark asphalt, reducing the heat that transfers into your attic and living spaces. Northport's roughly 3115 annual sunshine hours make this efficiency meaningful across the year. Reflective roofs lower cooling demand, extend air-conditioner lifespan, and reduce strain on local power grids during peak demand. The reflectivity also slows thermal cycling that stresses roofing materials, contributing to the roof's longevity. Choose your color at installation to maximize energy savings from day one.

What's the real lifespan of an Interlock metal roof, and what does the warranty cover?

The Guardian warranty is a lifetime limited, non-prorated material warranty for the original owner—covering rusting, rotting, splitting, cracking, curling, and loss of impact resistance with no proration over time. The next owner receives 50 years of coverage from completion, making it the longest transferable roofing warranty available. Given that asphalt typically lasts 15–20 years and requires complete replacement, Interlock is genuinely your last roof. The aluminum alloy (3105-H24 / 3003-H24) and 30-year Alunar fluorocarbon coating are engineered for 50+ years of Northport's freeze-thaw cycles (66 per year), salt air, and rainfall (1251 mm annually). Documented installations in coastal salt-air environments and even an Antarctic research station validate durability across extreme climates.

Is a metal roof a good choice for Northport’s climate?

Yes. Northport averages about 63 cm of snow, 1251 mm of rain, roughly 66 freeze–thaw days a year, with peak wind gusts near 135 km/h. Interlock® aluminum roofing is wind-rated to 193+ km/h (120 mph), UL 2218 Class 4 impact-rated and Class A fire-rated, and its four-way interlocking panels shed snow and resist ice dams and freeze–thaw cracking — all backed by a lifetime limited, transferable warranty.
