Review: June 10, 2016Completion: March 1, 2016

I am very disgusted with what happen in terms of what the salesperson told me I was going to get. My neighbor has the same roof and said that he had a good job Interlock was over sold and under delivered in terms of what they promised. I think they could have improved on customer service, follow up, letting the customer know when the start dates change, and the installers should be more prideful in their work. I called back several times about when they were going to start the work. I was told by the contractor that my problems would be forward to the office but no one in the office knew about my problems. I know foresee that I will have issues down the road because it was not put on properly. I think they should do it right the first time and do exactly what they say they will do. Some of my concerns and issues are based on what I have gone through. I don't want anyone else to go through this. I feel that there might be some customers who don't speak up and will just let things slide by and that isn't right. The owner doesn't know what the people are costing his company by the lack of workmanship and quality of work and customer service. When people get this kind of service they will never use that company again. I told Jennifer that they gave me a Mercedes roof but had installers for Ikea install it. My neighbor feels bad for recommending them to me.I work at home and I am most of the time. The last day they completed the job no one told me that it was going to be the last day. I was two hours away when I got the call that it was the last day and they were done and I needed to sign paperwork. He wanted me to walk around the property to look at the work but by the time I got home the sun had already set and I couldn't see anything. I refused to sign off on the work.

I would love to do it, but I can't justify spending that much money. I love the product, but I'd have to win some money to afford it. I like the sales pitch, and the salesman, but it cost too much. They have a unique product, and the design is good.

We are writing to thank your company for the wonderful new roof installation that we have. It is refreshing in today's business world to be able to have a company say and do exactly what is expected of them. Your sales representative, Robert Allen, was very knowledgeable and informative about the product and the installation of it. He was not an aggressive salesman, which we appreciated. The installers were the BEST! Dmitry, Leonid and Danny were the hardest working men we have ever had work on anything that we have ever had done at our house. They worked every moment that they were here, and the most severe conditions. The job was finished in a timely manor. We definitely will recommend your company to our friends.

I’m not sure who to best direct this letter of appreciation to but I’m assuming it will be shared with Interlock officials. As briefly mentioned in an email to you we are thrilled with everything. From our initial deliberations in choosing Interlock to the completion of the project we have been impressed. We have completed many remodeling projects in our home. Replacing a roof certainly would be considered major. To know that we will not need to worry about replacing it is very comforting, not to mention the impressive appearance and worth it has added to our home and neighborhood. We would be remiss if we didn’t mention the extraordinary work and work habits of Nazar. Committed, exacting, attention to detail, particular are words that immediately come to mind. His knowledge and work ethic are off the scale – long work days, mindful of what needs doing next (particularly with vagaries of spring weather) are noteworthy. He’s a gem you can absolutely depend on. We await our first major nasty weather event to put this all to test – one that we were very confident about. Thank you once again. It is reassuring to know we will benefit so nicely from the superior workmanship and quality of the roofing products.

My wife and I wanted you to know that we are very pleased with the new Interlock shingle roof recently installed on our twenty year old home. The color matches the rest of our home and the shingles look tremendous. While we knew we needed a new roof and we we looked at a number of different options and contractors, we believed that selecting your company was without a doubt a winner in every respect. We became aware of your product through the website of the ">Metal Roofing Alliance that led us to your company's own web page. Subsequently, we met with Mr. Robert Allen, Regional Marketing Coordinator of New York's Best Roof, Inc., who fully addressed all of our questions and was readily available throughout the process. Installation was also handled in a very professional manner, and we could not ask for better assistance from either Mr. Allen or the installation crew of New York's Best Roof, Inc. We look forward to many happy years under the security of our new aluminum shingle roof, and would gladly recommend your product and the team from New York's Best Roof, Inc. to anyone. We are also very pleased with the energy savings, maintenance free characteristics and environmentally friendly aspects of our new ">aluminum roof.

To: Interlock / New York's Best Roof My husband and I wanted to write to you to let you know how pleased we are with our entire experience working with Interlock. We now have a beautiful new roof and the process was totally professional and first rate. We first learned about Interlock from information received in the mail. However Mr. Robert Allen, our sales coordinator, gave a very thorough, knowledgeable presentation of the roofing product, answering our questions, showing samples and leaving us with written materials we could look over at our leisure. Mr. Allen was always a phone call away to answer our questions, returning our calls if not the same day certainly with a 24-hour period. Once we decided to purchase an Interlock roof, the time frame spelled out in the contract was adhered to. Financing was available and Mr. Patrick Doyle worked very diligently to get us the best rate of interest available to us. Whatever concerns we had were addressed and the paperwork was simple and straightforward. The installment crew was professional, courteous and hardworking. Our roof was done in 2 1/2 days and clean-up was always done at the end of each day. The crew always spoke with my husband in a polite, unobtrusive manner and did whatever it took to make the installation as easy as possible. Now not only do we have a great looking roof with a 50-year " title="warranty" data-wpil-keyword-link="linked">warranty, we also bought a great product. The roofing itself creates minimal waste and is recyclable. It reflects the sun in the summer so our air conditioning works more efficiently. In the winter we no longer have to snow rake the roof, the snow melts off automatically. Our house now seems quieter, even our 14 year old son remarked he didn't know it was raining until the rain hit the windows. Our new roof gives our house a more finished look and according to our tax expert, ">metal roofs are tax-deductible! My husband and I can not only say enough positive things about interlock. We would highly recommend their product and company to anyone considering a new roof. Drive by and see the finished product!

Metal Roofing FAQs for Homeowners in Cold Spring Harbor

The following metal roofing FAQs are designed specifically for homeowners in Cold Spring Harbor, New York. Whether you are building a new home or replacing an existing roof, understanding how roofing materials perform in local weather conditions is essential. From wind and storm protection to fire resistance, hail impact, snow loads, and coastal moisture exposure, Interlock’s Lifetime Aluminum Roofing System is engineered to provide long-term durability, energy efficiency, and peace of mind in Cold Spring Harbor.

How does a metal roof handle heavy snow in Cold Spring Harbor winters?

Metal roofing sheds snow and ice effectively because its smooth, hard surface prevents moisture from bonding as it does to asphalt. With about 63 cm of snow falling annually here, combined with roughly 66 freeze-thaw cycles per year, the ability to naturally clear snow reduces ice dam formation and water infiltration risk. Interlock's four-way interlocking panels create a unified surface that moves as snow shifts, and you can add snow guards where needed to control sliding. The material's lightweight design means no structural concerns even after heavy accumulation.

Will freeze-thaw cycling damage aluminum roofing in this climate?

No — aluminum thrives in freeze-thaw conditions because it expands and contracts uniformly without cracking, splitting, or losing structural integrity. Cold Spring Harbor experiences about 66 freeze-thaw days yearly, yet aluminum's crystalline structure and lack of wood fiber or porosity means it won't absorb water and shatter the way asphalt, wood, or clay tile does. The Alunar 70% PVDF coating (warranted 30 years against degradation per ASTM D4214/D2244) protects against salt spray and weather cycling. Over the roof's lifetime, this material becomes more reliable, not weaker.

Can aluminum roofing rust or corrode in coastal weather?

Aluminum cannot rust because it contains no iron — the element required for rust formation. When scratched or exposed, aluminum forms a self-healing oxide layer that protects the base metal from further corrosion. Cold Spring Harbor's maritime climate and salt-air exposure make this advantage real: Interlock has been installed on coastal homes in similar salt-air environments since 1998 and even covers an Antarctic research station. The Alunar fluorocarbon finish (applied to both sides of every panel for extra salt-air protection) carries a 30-year warranty against chalking and fading, giving you dual defense against corrosion.

Does heavy rain leak through metal roofing panels?

Interlock's four-way interlocking design and tested field installations confirm that heavy rainfall is effectively managed through mechanical sealing — no sealant required. With about 1251 mm of rain annually in Cold Spring Harbor, the overlapping panel geometry naturally directs water downward and outward. Combined with proper underlayment and a solid deck (standard installation), leaks are exceptionally rare. The ICC-ES ESR-1790 evaluation (reissued 2025) confirms compliance with IBC/IRC water-intrusion requirements. Homeowners report that rain noise is no louder than asphalt roofing when installed correctly, thanks to solid decking and underlayment dampening impact sound.

How does a metal roof perform in Cold Spring Harbor's coastal wind gusts?

Interlock's four-way interlocking aluminum panels are warranted to resist wind speeds up to 120 mph (193 km/h) when installed to specification. Local wind gusts here average around 135 km/h, placing them within the warranty protection envelope. The mechanical interlocking system — not fasteners alone — distributes wind load across adjacent panels, creating unified resistance. This design means your roof stays secure during nor'easters and seasonal storms common to Suffolk County without requiring roof-to-wall bracing or expensive structural modifications. The UL 2218 Class 4 hail impact rating (the highest available) also ensures the same panels withstand both wind-driven debris and weather extremes.

Do I need to reinforce my roof structure for metal roofing?

No structural reinforcement is needed. Interlock's roofing-grade 3105-H24/3003-H24 aluminum alloy is extraordinarily light — the Mediterranean Tile profile installs at approximately 0.59 lb/sq ft, making it about 96% lighter than concrete or clay tile. This means it installs directly over most existing roofs without adding burden to your home's framing or foundation. Even with Cold Spring Harbor's typical 63 cm annual snowfall, the cumulative load remains negligible compared to asphalt or traditional tile. Your existing roof structure likely needs no modification, which keeps installation time and cost low while maintaining the authentic appearance of heavier materials.

Will my insurance rates drop with a metal roof rated for hail?

Many insurers offer discounts for Class 4 hail-impact-rated roofing, though rates vary by carrier and policy. Interlock's aluminum panels carry UL 2218 Class 4 certification — the highest impact rating available — and the Guardian Warranty even covers perforation from hailstones up to 1.5 inches. When you contact your insurer with the ESR-1790 evaluation report and UL 2218 Class 4 documentation, they can assess your specific eligibility for a discount. In a region where springtime and autumn storms can bring hail, the combination of proven impact resistance and warranty coverage provides peace of mind that asphalt cannot match. Document the upgrade for your insurer to explore savings.

What warranty does Interlock provide, and how long will the roof actually last?

The Guardian Warranty is a lifetime limited, non-prorated material warranty for the original owner — covering rusting, rotting, splitting, cracking, curling, and loss of impact resistance. It's also one-time transferable, giving the next owner 50 years from completion. With Alunar coating protection (30-year warranty against chalking and fading per ASTM D4214/D2244), the actual service life typically exceeds 50 years. Installed since 1998, Interlock panels in similar climates show no signs of premature wear. Combined with Cold Spring Harbor's about 3115 sunshine hours annually and freeze-thaw cycles that would stress asphalt or wood, aluminum's immunity to cracking and rot means this roof truly becomes your last roof.

Is metal roofing fire-safe in a residential area?

Yes — Interlock offers Class A fire classification (non-combustible aluminum), which is the highest fire-safety rating available and meets all IBC/IRC requirements documented in ICC-ES evaluation ESR-1790 (reissued 2025). Aluminum's non-combustibility means it cannot ignite or spread flame, making it ideal for homeowners concerned about wildfire risk or who live near wooded areas typical of Cold Spring Harbor. The coating and panel construction also resist ignition from external sources. Your homeowner's insurance may recognize this non-combustible rating, potentially lowering premiums. Unlike asphalt or wood shingles, metal roofing provides genuine fire protection without sacrificing aesthetic appeal or performance in this region's weather.

Is a metal roof worth the upfront cost compared to asphalt shingles?

Over the roof's lifetime, metal roofing is typically the more economical choice. Asphalt requires replacement every 15–20 years; Interlock lasts 50+ years, meaning you'll replace asphalt three times before replacing metal once. Factor in labor, disposal, and roof-off tear-down costs for each asphalt replacement, plus ongoing maintenance (repairs, algae cleaning, sealing). Metal requires minimal maintenance and contains no asphalt byproducts destined for landfills. With about 1251 mm annual rainfall and 66 freeze-thaw cycles here, asphalt degrades faster. The Guardian Warranty covers material defects for life (original owner), transferring 50 years to the next owner — protection asphalt cannot match. Calculated over 50 years, metal roofing typically costs less per year and protects your home more reliably.

Is a metal roof a good choice for Cold Spring Harbor’s climate?

Yes. Cold Spring Harbor averages about 63 cm of snow, 1251 mm of rain, roughly 66 freeze–thaw days a year, with peak wind gusts near 135 km/h. Interlock® aluminum roofing is wind-rated to 193+ km/h (120 mph), UL 2218 Class 4 impact-rated and Class A fire-rated, and its four-way interlocking panels shed snow and resist ice dams and freeze–thaw cracking — all backed by a lifetime limited, transferable warranty.
