Interlock® Aluminum Roofing — all-climates performance specs for Glenoma, Washington
| Spec / Rating | Climate / Risk Factor + What It Solves |
|---|---|
| Wind resistance: 120+ mph (193+ kph) | Extreme wind, hurricanes, storm uplift: full interlocking attachment helps prevent blow-offs, edge lifting, and panel loss in high-gust events. |
| Fire rating: Class A (with proper assembly) | Wildfire, embers, radiant heat, chimney sparks: non-combustible roof assembly provides the highest residential fire protection rating. |
| Hail resistance: UL 2218 Class 4 | Hail and impact debris: highest impact classification; resists cracking, splitting, and surface loss common with asphalt under hail strikes. |
| Snow & ice performance: interlocking, shedding profile | Heavy snow, freeze-thaw, ice dams: smooth aluminum sheds snow efficiently and the interlocking design helps block water intrusion when melt-refreeze cycles occur. (Final snow-load capacity depends on roof structure and local code.) |

What our customers are saying:
Prompt service and very knowledgeable. Highly recommend.
My wife and I wanted a long-term roof and I think we found it. The product seems very good and are installer Daniel was terrific and a trooper put a lot of hours and a lot of time and made it look real nice when it was completed. I would recommend the company if you're looking for a metal roof.
Ivan Excellent will make it right!!
We needed a roof repair when our neighbors tree dropped a large limb through our roof. Ivan came And accessed The damage, Ordered the sheets we needed. He came back and did the whole Repair himself. So happy to have it fixed along with his recommendations to have the roof cleaned. We appreciate his skills in repairing The roof.
The Interlock associate Ivan, came did an awesome service in correcting the part needed to be corrected, he left us with instructions of what we needed to check and to get in touch with, if needed 😀 Ms. May the associate answering the phone was helpful for us to get prompt service. They are dependable. We received roof service.
The work was efficient and well done. The service, the people and team were great. Beautiful roof.
I highly appreciate the professionalism, workmanship and the quality of materials used. I don't doubt that it will be our forever roof and will not need to worry about replacement during the life of our house. Ross, Tony, Roma were all great throughout the new roof installation process.
We noticed water spots on the ceiling. Ivan came, found a hole likely caused by a branch in the recent wind storm. He repaired the hole on the spot. Thank you Ivan!
Ivan replaced our exhaust vent on the roof that had some leaking issue. We were impressed with his professionalism, courtesy and fixing the problem to our utmost satisfaction. We certainly would recommend him and the company for any roofing issues being it a new roof or repairs.
We recently had our roof replaced with interlock aluminum shingles and we love how it made our house stand out in our neighborhood. I would have given 5 stars but there were few things that I wanted to point out. Ross arrived on time and did an excellent presentation. I specifically asked him if their installers are contractors and his answer was no, they are employees of interlock. Turns out they are contractors which is no big deal as long as they do excellent work, it’s all about honesty. Prior to installation, the installers told me that it would take about two and a half days to finish which is great, I said no rush. The installation process took two weeks, I hope everything will go well this coming rainy season. The only thing I didn’t like was at the end of the day they leave their tools in the driveway just laying around and the worst they leave their microwave plugged into the outlet with damaged power cord. But with all things said, we love our new roof and only time will tell if it was worth the price.
Excellent contact and coordination with field representatives and installers/project manager.
We recently had our roof replaced with aluminum shingles and are very satisfied so far. - Easy Sales Process – Thank you Ross for making everything clear and straightforward from the start. - Great Value – The price was very reasonable compared to other estimates. - Better Than Expected – The finished look exceeded our expectations and really improved the appearance of our home. It’s not as glossy as we feared, which we like. - Fast & Efficient – The crew worked quickly and finished everything in just 2 days for our ~1,000 sq. ft. house with two layers of old shingles. - No Issues – No noise at all, despite common concerns about metal roofs. Tip for others: Ask for the exact model and size of vents that will be installed before the project starts. Our vents were only a few months old but couldn’t be reused, and the ones the company brought were the wrong size. The crew had to buy replacements last minute, which worked but don’t perfectly match.

Metal Roofing FAQs for Homeowners in Glenoma
The following metal roofing FAQs are designed specifically for homeowners in Glenoma, Washington. Whether you are building a new home or replacing an existing roof, understanding how roofing materials perform in local weather conditions is essential. From wind and storm protection to fire resistance, hail impact, snow loads, and coastal moisture exposure, Interlock’s Lifetime Aluminum Roofing System is engineered to provide long-term durability, energy efficiency, and peace of mind in Glenoma.
How does a metal roof handle the heavy snow that Glenoma gets every winter?
Interlock's four-way interlocking aluminum panels shed snow and ice efficiently because smooth metal surfaces don't hold moisture the way asphalt does. Glenoma receives about 337 cm of snow annually across roughly 65 freeze-thaw cycles per year—conditions that cause asphalt shingles to crack and curl as they expand and contract. Aluminum's oxide layer self-heals after freeze-thaw stress, and the panels remain dimensionally stable. Optional snow guards can be installed if you want to control roof-to-ground snow timing. The lightweight design (Cedar Shingle at 0.41 lb/sq ft) means no structural reinforcement is needed, even under full snow load.
Will my metal roof survive Glenoma's freeze-thaw cycles without cracking?
Yes—aluminum's material properties make it inherently resistant to freeze-thaw damage that degrades asphalt and wood. With about 65 freeze-thaw days annually and 1502 mm of rainfall, Glenoma's climate cycling is relentless on brittle materials. Asphalt shingles absorb water, expand when frozen, then contract when thawed, leading to cracks and curling within 10–15 years. Interlock's 3105-H24 / 3003-H24 aluminum alloy doesn't absorb moisture and won't split or curl. The Alunar 70% PVDF coating (warranted 30 years against chalking and fading per ASTM D4214) protects the metal surface through constant wet-freeze cycles, ensuring dimensional stability across decades.
Can a metal roof handle Glenoma's 1500+ mm of annual rainfall without leaking?
Metal roofs are inherently superior at shedding the 1502 mm of rain Glenoma averages each year because water runs off smooth metal faster than it penetrates overlapped shingles. The four-way interlocking panel design creates a sealed system where water cannot migrate sideways into the substrate. When installed to ICC-ES ESR-1790 specification over solid decking with underlayment, the metal roof itself acts as a primary water barrier—there's no absorption, no saturation, no delayed leaks from trapped moisture like asphalt systems experience after 10–15 years. Proper flashing at penetrations (installed by your local Interlock Metal Roofing (PNW) specialist) completes a closed drainage system.
Is an Interlock metal roof safe in Glenoma's wind gusts?
Interlock panels are warranted to resist wind speeds up to 120 mph (193 km/h) when installed to specification, and Glenoma's typical wind gusts reach about 110 km/h, leaving a safety margin. The four-way interlocking system locks each panel to its neighbors on all sides, distributing wind load across the entire roof rather than lifting individual shingles. This design eliminates the progressive wind damage—missing shingles, exposed underlayment, water infiltration—that weakens asphalt roofs over time. With 2816 annual sunshine hours and frequent wind events, your roof experiences both UV exposure and dynamic mechanical stress; the interlocked aluminum structure handles both without fatigue or separation.
Does Interlock metal roofing qualify for hail damage discounts or claims?
Interlock's UL 2218 Class 4 impact rating—the highest available—means the roof resists damage from hailstones up to 1.5 inches and is warranted against perforation. Several insurers offer premium discounts or waived deductibles for roofs rated Class 3 or 4 because the loss history is dramatically lower than asphalt. In Lewis County's hail-prone springs, this protection translates to real savings over time. The Guardian warranty covers impact-related failures; your insurer's underwriting team can review the UL 2218 rating and ESR-1790 evaluation report to confirm eligibility for your specific policy. Many homeowners see their annual premium decrease by 10–20% after installation.
Why can't Interlock aluminum roofs rust like steel roofs do?
Aluminum cannot rust because it contains no iron—iron is what oxidizes into rust. Interlock uses roofing-grade 3105-H24 / 3003-H24 aluminum alloy (ASTM B209) that instead forms a microscopically thin, self-healing oxide layer when exposed to air. If that protective layer is scratched, a new one forms within hours, making aluminum immune to the progressive corrosion that destroys steel roofing within 15–25 years, especially in humid or coastal regions. Glenoma's 1502 mm annual rainfall and 65 freeze-thaw cycles create an aggressive environment for steel; aluminum weathers these conditions indefinitely. The Alunar 70% PVDF fluorocarbon finish (applied to both sides) adds an additional 30-year durability barrier, protecting the aluminum beneath.
Can Interlock install directly over my existing roof, or do I need structural upgrades?
Interlock installs directly over most existing roofs with no structural reinforcement because aluminum is extraordinarily light—the Mediterranean Tile profile weighs about 0.59 lb/sq ft, roughly 96% lighter than concrete or clay tile. This means your existing framing, already sized for asphalt shingles and accumulated snow load (Glenoma averages 337 cm annually), handles the new metal roof without modification. A licensed installer from Interlock Metal Roofing (PNW) Inc. will assess your deck condition and confirm readiness during the site visit. Removing old shingles is optional; many homeowners choose the overlay route to save labor and landfill impact. The lightweight design is a hidden structural advantage—your home's frame receives less stress over the roof's 50-year lifespan.
How much maintenance does an Interlock metal roof need compared to asphalt or tile?
Interlock metal roofing requires almost no maintenance—no cleaning, no sealing, no replacement of failed shingles. Asphalt shingles need inspection every 2–3 years and deteriorate visibly within 15–20 years in Glenoma's 65 annual freeze-thaw cycles. Wood shakes split and rot in the 1502 mm of annual rain. Concrete and clay tiles crack, absorb moisture, and require re-mortaring. Interlock's aluminum panels shed rain and ice naturally; the Alunar 70% PVDF coating resists chalking and fading (warranted 30 years per ASTM D4214) and doesn't require repainting. CALGreen verification confirms reduced maintenance burden. Occasional gutter cleaning and visual inspection for debris are sufficient—your roof will outlast most home systems without intervention.
Is an Interlock metal roof cheaper than replacing asphalt every 15–20 years?
Over the roof's life, metal is cheaper because asphalt is not a durable investment in Glenoma's climate. A typical asphalt roof lasts 15–20 years before failing in freeze-thaw cycling and heavy rain; you replace it three to four times before the house ages out. Interlock's Guardian warranty covers the original owner for life (non-prorated, material only) and transfers 50 years to the next owner—one roof installation funds decades of protection. When you factor in labor (removal, disposal, reinstallation repeated multiple times), avoided insurance claims (UL 2218 Class 4 rating often reduces premiums by 10–20%), and the resale premium for an installed metal roof, the total cost of ownership strongly favors aluminum. Current promotion: no payments and no interest until Spring 2027, or 10% off installation.
Does Interlock have local installers in Glenoma and Lewis County?
Yes—Interlock Metal Roofing (PNW) Inc. has served the Pacific Northwest region, including Lewis County and Glenoma, since 1997. Your local installer understands regional snow loads, wind patterns, rainfall intensity (1502 mm annually), and freeze-thaw cycles (about 65 days per year) that shape roof design and material selection. They install to ICC-ES ESR-1790 specification, manage flashing details for Glenoma's wet climate, and coordinate with local building departments for permits. They're familiar with the full Interlock profile lineup—Slate, Cedar Shingle, Shake, Standing Seam, Mediterranean Tile—and can match your home's architectural style and neighborhood context.
