Interlock® Aluminum Roofing — all-climates performance specs for Bonny Slope, Oregon
| Spec / Rating | Climate / Risk Factor + What It Solves |
|---|---|
| Wind resistance: 120+ mph (193+ kph) | Extreme wind, hurricanes, storm uplift: full interlocking attachment helps prevent blow-offs, edge lifting, and panel loss in high-gust events. |
| Fire rating: Class A (with proper assembly) | Wildfire, embers, radiant heat, chimney sparks: non-combustible roof assembly provides the highest residential fire protection rating. |
| Hail resistance: UL 2218 Class 4 | Hail and impact debris: highest impact classification; resists cracking, splitting, and surface loss common with asphalt under hail strikes. |
| Snow & ice performance: interlocking, shedding profile | Heavy snow, freeze-thaw, ice dams: smooth aluminum sheds snow efficiently and the interlocking design helps block water intrusion when melt-refreeze cycles occur. (Final snow-load capacity depends on roof structure and local code.) |
| Corrosion resistance: aluminum (won’t rust) | Salt air, coastal humidity, wet climates: aluminum naturally resists rust and corrosion, reducing long-term failure risk in marine or high-moisture environments. |
| Heat / UV durability: baked-on coating system | High heat, intense sun, thermal cycling: coatings resist UV breakdown and temperature-swing fatigue, slowing fading and surface degradation. |
| Moss / algae resistance: smooth coated surface | Wet shade, organic growth: low-porosity metal surface gives moss/algae less to grip, reducing staining and maintenance. |
| Material: heavy-gauge aluminum roof profiles (Slate / Shake / Shingle / Tile / Standing Seam) | All-season structural stability: lightweight, dent-resistant metal system stays stable through large hot-cold swings and severe weather. |
| Expected lifespan: 50+ years | Long-term durability across climates: avoids re-roof cycles typical of shorter-life materials, even in high-stress environments. |
| Warranty: Lifetime-Limited, non-prorated + 50-year transferable | Lifetime protection + resale value: guarantees long-term material confidence and transfers to future owners. |

What our customers are saying:
Fast response and excellent work. The technician drop by within couple of days, found the cause, and provided quote. The price was reasonable for the work scope. They were able to secure the work slot as soon as the raining season was over and kept me informed on the schedule. In addition, they inspected remaining roof as well. Note: the leak was due to gutter pulling the corner flashing. The 10+ year Interlock roof tile remained good.
Prompt, ongoing communication from bid to follow up after completion. Install crew was professional and polite. We had an involved tear-off and they spread tarps overnight in case of dew. Finished job looks great.
Interlock handled our roofing project with skill and expertise. Many other local roofers ran away from even bidding the job due to the complexity of our roof line. The result is exquisite and I'm hopeful any further service needed over the years will go just as smoothly as the install did. Positive, Quality, Value, Services: Roof installation
We love our roof! It looks great, and so far we have no problems. Definitely would recommend to others. The cost could be prohibitive, but in the end it's worth it to us. Communications. Clean up. Finishing touches such as trimming some overhang, screwing down some loose edges. Thank you. We are very happy with our roof and Interlock experience.
The crew did not have all the materials and had to make a trip to get the rest of the materials. Displeased with them not telling us they were going to cut a hole in our roof and left the attic full of sawdust.
They installed an amazing IB membrane that makes the house look great. They suggested this product for my price range and expectations for a lifetime roof!
Just the communication for the install. A week later we have had some pretty hard rains. No leaks! and the roof looks great.
I'm sure your work is excellent and from viewing images of homes and prior work Interlock has done, I dont doubt the quality. But affordability and costs are absurd.
Do not leave debris. Job site was not cleaned by Victor each day as promised by Michael during sale Only on day 2 were tarps put down. Nothing on other days. Still find nails and roofing pieces. Mentioned to everyone how important this is to me. Communication broke completely down after Peter left. Stark difference to day 1 and 2 which was fantastic. I love the new roof. Looks great and roof rafters no longer cry out. If I had to do it again, I would.
I would love to have your product on my roof, but I can't justify the expense. Thanks for your time and Glenn's time. Your product could sell itself.
They told me that they would give me 2 signs and they didn't give them to me.

Metal Roofing FAQs for Homeowners in Bonny Slope
The following metal roofing FAQs are designed specifically for homeowners in Bonny Slope, Oregon. Whether you are building a new home or replacing an existing roof, understanding how roofing materials perform in local weather conditions is essential. From wind and storm protection to fire resistance, hail impact, snow loads, and coastal moisture exposure, Interlock’s Lifetime Aluminum Roofing System is engineered to provide long-term durability, energy efficiency, and peace of mind in Bonny Slope.
Can a metal roof rust in Oregon's wet climate?
No—Interlock roofs are made from aluminum alloy (3105-H24 / 3003-H24), which contains no iron and cannot rust. When aluminum oxidizes, it forms a protective layer that actually self-heals when scratched. In Bonny Slope's 1208 mm annual rainfall and salt-air environments, this matters: steel would corrode, but aluminum's natural chemistry works harder the more moisture it faces. The Alunar 70% PVDF coating on both panel sides adds a 30-year warranty against fading, so you get double protection.
Does heavy rain leak through a metal roof?
No. Metal roofs are installed over solid decking and underlayment—the same leak-prevention foundation as asphalt. Bonny Slope receives about 1208 mm of rain yearly, and the four-way interlocking aluminum panels shed water like traditional roofs do. The difference: metal won't rot, curl, or degrade from that moisture the way asphalt shingles deteriorate over time. Once installed to ICC-ES ESR-1790 code spec, the sealing happens at the seams, not the material itself.
Will a metal roof blow off in Bonny Slope's wind gusts?
No. Interlock roofs are warranted to withstand 120 mph winds when installed to specification—well above the 120 km/h gusts typical in Washington County. The four-way interlocking panels lock together mechanically, distributing wind load across the entire roof rather than relying on adhesive or nails alone. In regions with similar gust profiles, this engineering has proven itself for decades. The warranty backs that promise.
Does a metal roof handle hail, and can it lower my insurance?
Yes on both counts. Interlock metal roofing carries a UL 2218 Class 4 impact rating—the highest available—and the warranty covers perforation from hailstones up to 1.5 inches. Some insurers reward this durability with premium discounts because the roof outlasts traditional shingles and files fewer claims over time. With about 37 freeze-thaw days per year in Bonny Slope, hail-resistant material also protects against the crack-and-fail cycles asphalt suffers in spring conditions.
Do I need to reinforce my house for a metal roof?
Almost certainly not. The Mediterranean Tile profile weighs about 0.59 lb/sq ft—roughly 96% lighter than concrete or clay tile—and even the heavier Shake profile comes in under 0.58 lb/sq ft. Most existing roofs can support this load without reinforcement. Because aluminum weighs so little compared to slate or tile, you avoid tens of thousands in structural upgrades. Interlock installs directly over many existing roofs, cutting labor costs and debris-disposal fees.
Will a metal roof keep my house cooler?
Yes, if you choose an energy-efficient color. Those profiles reflect up to 0.55 solar reflectance and achieve 0.84 thermal emissivity—meaning they bounce heat away rather than absorb it like asphalt does. Bonny Slope averages about 3033 sunshine hours per year, so reflective roofing reduces cooling load during warmer months. Cool Roof Rating Council ratings back this performance. Darker colors absorb more; lighter ones save more on summer cooling costs.
How long will an Interlock metal roof actually last?
Interlock has manufactured roofing since 1998—over 25 years of proven field performance in climates ranging from coastal salt-air homes to an Antarctic research station. With no rust, rot, or wood-based degradation, the aluminum substrate outlasts traditional materials by decades. The Alunar coating carries a separate 30-year warranty against chalking and fading. In Bonny Slope's wet, freeze-thaw environment (about 37 freeze-thaw days yearly), materials that can't rot have a clear advantage over asphalt and wood shake.
Is a metal roof more expensive than asphalt when you factor in the full cost?
Over the roof's lifetime, no. Asphalt typically needs replacement every 15–20 years; a metal roof spans 50+ years with no re-roofing landfill expense. You also eliminate costly leak repairs, rot damage to framing, and maintenance cycles asphalt demands. The current promotion—no payments and no interest until Spring 2027, or 10% off installation—improves the upfront math significantly. Calculate the total cost per year over 50 years rather than the sticker price, and metal becomes the last roof you buy.
Is metal roofing better for the environment than asphalt?
Yes. Aluminum is roughly 95% recyclable; at the roof's end of life, it retains scrap value and enters the recycling stream rather than a landfill. Asphalt tear-offs—millions of tons yearly—decompose slowly and leach contaminants. Interlock's lightweight design also reduces the truck trips and fuel needed for installation. In Bonny Slope, where rain and freeze-thaw cycles accelerate asphalt breakdown (about 37 freeze-thaw days yearly), switching to aluminum eliminates the repetitive tear-off cycle entirely. You buy once; recyclers eventually recover the material.
Who installs Interlock metal roofing in Bonny Slope?
Interlock Metal Roofing (PNW) Inc. has served the region since 1997 and knows Washington County's weather intimately—1208 mm annual rain, about 29 cm snow, and gusts to 120 km/h demand precise installation. Local expertise means faster service, familiarity with permit requirements, and follow-up support if questions arise. The team understands how Bonny Slope homes perform in freeze-thaw cycles and can recommend profiles and colors suited to your specific property and exposure.
Is a metal roof a good choice for Bonny Slope’s climate?
Yes. Bonny Slope averages about 29 cm of snow, 1208 mm of rain, roughly 37 freeze–thaw days a year, with peak wind gusts near 120 km/h. Interlock® aluminum roofing is wind-rated to 193+ km/h (120 mph), UL 2218 Class 4 impact-rated and Class A fire-rated, and its four-way interlocking panels shed snow and resist ice dams and freeze–thaw cracking — all backed by a lifetime limited, transferable warranty.
