Review: April 25, 2025 Completion: April 10, 2025

Interlock was a great process, their sales team was very helpful and knowledgeable, the install team had the old roofing removed and the new one installed in a few days. We chose the black "slate" panels and it looks awesome and it doesn't sound much different in the rain than our old asphalt shingles. A bit of an investment but I'm glad we went with interlock.

We were so impressed with Interlock Roofing. The entire process was great from sales, to installation to clean up. They made the process easy even when we had a few curveballs for them. They worked with us wonderfully the entire time and our roof looks amazing. The installation team was so nice and respectful. Our roof is beautiful.

It's expensive, but other than that - a great roof. Interlock Roofing could have improved on their communication between salesman and installers.

Review: September 15, 2019 Completion: December 6, 2016

Interlock Roofing did a very good job of installing our roof. I was worried that it would be a little too hard to do this in the middle of winter, but they did a great job. I would recommend this company to anyone contemplating a metal roof for their home. The only negative comment I have is the clean-up could have been a bit better. I covered my gutters after the roof was installed, and found a lot of debris in the gutters as well as on the ground. The debris were mostly pieces of cut metal tiles with very sharp edges. In fact I found this debris on the ground for several months after the job was completed. I suspect that the installation crew was cold and tired and may not have taken as much time as they normally would have because of the weather. Our expectations of this medium ( metal) was fully confirmed and we couldn't be happier with our choice. Thank you Ralf C.

Review: August 15, 2019 Completion: October 13, 2017

We live in Tigard Oregon. We were able to schedule the installation of the new roof just before the Rainy season began. We had the old shingles removed and found that our plywood was rotting and that it could not support the nails for the new metal roof. Interlock removed the rotting plywood and then we found that some of the supporting roof truss pieces were also rotting and cracking. So Interlock also replaced them. The price for the additional work was reasonable and though it all took longer to accomplish the goal, they worked hard and efficiently and it was completed before it began raining seriously. We continue to be thankful and we enjoy our new roof!

Metal Roofing FAQs for Homeowners in South Beaverton

The following metal roofing FAQs are designed specifically for homeowners in South Beaverton, Oregon. Whether you are building a new home or replacing an existing roof, understanding how roofing materials perform in local weather conditions is essential. From wind and storm protection to fire resistance, hail impact, snow loads, and coastal moisture exposure, Interlock’s Lifetime Aluminum Roofing System is engineered to provide long-term durability, energy efficiency, and peace of mind in South Beaverton.

Can an aluminum metal roof rust in South Beaverton's wet climate?

No—aluminum cannot rust because it contains no iron. Instead, it develops a self-healing oxide layer that actually protects the metal from further corrosion, even when scratched. With South Beaverton averaging 1208 mm of rain annually and occasional freeze-thaw cycles (about 37 days per year), this inherent resistance to moisture damage means your roof stays sound where asphalt and steel break down. The Alunar 70% PVDF coating on both panel sides adds a 30-year color warranty, especially valuable in salt-air regions and wet climates.

How does a metal roof handle heavy rain in South Beaverton?

Interlock's four-way interlocking aluminum panels shed water by design, with no exposed fasteners to leak. Installing over a solid deck plus underlayment creates the same quiet, watertight performance as asphalt—not the Hollywood misconception of noise. South Beaverton receives about 1208 mm of rain yearly, and the panels' mechanical interlocks ensure water moves down and out regardless of rainfall intensity. The ICC-ES ESR-1790 evaluation confirms code compliance for your region's weather; properly installed, these roofs remain leak-free across coastal and inland Oregon.

Do I need to reinforce my roof structure for a metal roof?

Almost never. The Slate profile weighs about 0.41 lb/sq ft and even the Mediterranean Tile—which authentically mimics heavy clay or concrete tile—weighs just 0.59 lb/sq ft, roughly 96% lighter than the real thing. Most South Beaverton homes can handle this load without any structural work, and many installations occur directly over existing roofs. Compare that to slate or real tile, which would require expensive framing upgrades. Interlock's lightweight aluminum means you get the look you want without the structural cost or the engineering delays.

Will a metal roof blow off in South Beaverton's wind storms?

Interlock metal roofs are warranted to resist wind speeds up to 120 mph (193 km/h) when installed to specification. South Beaverton's typical gusts reach about 120 km/h, well within that safety margin. The four-way interlocking design locks panels on all sides, so wind has nowhere to grip and lift. UL 2218 Class 4 hail rating testing inherently validates wind resistance too—if panels survive severe impacts, they handle sustained gusts easily. Your roof stays secure through the region's worst weather without the blow-off risk that plagues lesser fastening systems.

Can hail damage hurt my metal roof, and could insurance help pay for it?

UL 2218 Class 4 impact rating, the highest available, means Interlock panels withstand hailstones up to 1.5 inches without cracking or puncturing. The warranty actually covers perforation from hail of that size. Many insurers recognize this and offer premium discounts on homes with Class 4-rated roofs. South Beaverton's climate includes occasional severe weather, and a roof that won't be damaged—or file a claim—saves you deductibles and hassle down the road. A few years of lower insurance costs can meaningfully offset your roof investment.

Does a metal roof help lower cooling costs in summer?

Yes. Interlock's energy-efficient colors achieve initial solar reflectance up to 0.55 and thermal emissivity of 0.84, meaning they reflect rather than absorb the summer heat that asphalt shingles trap. South Beaverton gets about 3033 sunshine hours annually, so reflective coatings noticeably reduce heat gain. The Cool Roof Rating Council rating confirms this performance. While Oregon summers are mild, this same reflectivity minimizes heat buildup in spring and fall, reducing HVAC cycling and lowering energy use year-round—all without air-conditioning complexity.

What warranty comes with an Interlock metal roof, and how long does it really last?

The Guardian lifetime limited warranty covers the original owner completely—material defects like rusting, rotting, splitting, or cracking—with zero prorating. If you sell, the next owner gets a one-time transfer for 50 years from completion. No other roofing material matches this. A roof installed today might still be protecting your home (or the next owner's) well into the 2070s. Given South Beaverton's 37 annual freeze-thaw cycles, that long-term coverage means one less financial surprise and real peace of mind through multiple ownership cycles.

How long does it take to install a metal roof, and can you install over my existing roof?

Interlock typically installs in days rather than weeks, depending on roof size and complexity. Because the panels weigh as little as 0.41 lb/sq ft (Slate), most installations go directly over your existing roof—no tear-off, no landfill, no multi-week disruption. Removing old asphalt adds time and cost; installing over it preserves your timeline and budget. Your installer confirms deck condition first, but the lightweight design and four-way mechanical interlocks mean no special framing or reinforcement delays. You're looking at one of the faster, less disruptive roof replacements available.

Is a metal roof better for the environment than asphalt shingles?

Substantially. Interlock aluminum is about 95% recyclable and never ends up in a landfill. Asphalt shingles, by contrast, are stripped off every 15-25 years and sent to dumps by the millions of tons. Over a 50+ year lifespan, a metal roof eliminates multiple tear-off cycles and their carbon footprint. South Beaverton's 1208 mm annual rainfall and 37 freeze-thaw days accelerate asphalt degradation, meaning more frequent replacements and more waste. One aluminum roof—installed once—outlasts several asphalt roofs, making it the lowest-waste choice for environmentally conscious homeowners.

Is a metal roof worth the upfront cost compared to asphalt shingles?

Over the roof's life, metal costs less per year. Asphalt lasts 15-25 years in wet climates like South Beaverton (1208 mm rain, 37 freeze-thaw cycles annually), so you'll replace it twice while one metal roof is still protecting your home. The Guardian lifetime warranty eliminates future replacement costs for the original owner. Interlock's current promotion—no payments and no interest until Spring 2027 or 10% off—makes the entry cost manageable. Factor in avoided tear-off labor, landfill fees, and multiple installations, plus any insurance discounts from the Class 4 hail rating, and metal becomes the genuine last roof you buy.

Is a metal roof a good choice for South Beaverton’s climate?

Yes. South Beaverton averages about 29 cm of snow, 1208 mm of rain, roughly 37 freeze–thaw days a year, with peak wind gusts near 120 km/h. Interlock® aluminum roofing is wind-rated to 193+ km/h (120 mph), UL 2218 Class 4 impact-rated and Class A fire-rated, and its four-way interlocking panels shed snow and resist ice dams and freeze–thaw cracking — all backed by a lifetime limited, transferable warranty.
