I absolutely love my new roof. Damon my sales rep was fantastic and the installers were the height of professionalism3/8/2021So after the snow and ice storm last month my metal roof still looks great and for the first time in 22 years I didn't have to worry about losing shingles in the storm. Review: April 25, 2025 Completion: April 10, 2025

Interlock was a great process, their sales team was very helpful and knowledgeable, the install team had the old roofing removed and the new one installed in a few days. We chose the black "slate" panels and it looks awesome and it doesn't sound much different in the rain than our old asphalt shingles. A bit of an investment but I'm glad we went with interlock.

We were so impressed with Interlock Roofing. The entire process was great from sales, to installation to clean up. They made the process easy even when we had a few curveballs for them. They worked with us wonderfully the entire time and our roof looks amazing. The installation team was so nice and respectful. Our roof is beautiful.

Review: September 15, 2019 Completion: December 6, 2016

Interlock Roofing did a very good job of installing our roof. I was worried that it would be a little too hard to do this in the middle of winter, but they did a great job. I would recommend this company to anyone contemplating a metal roof for their home. The only negative comment I have is the clean-up could have been a bit better. I covered my gutters after the roof was installed, and found a lot of debris in the gutters as well as on the ground. The debris were mostly pieces of cut metal tiles with very sharp edges. In fact I found this debris on the ground for several months after the job was completed. I suspect that the installation crew was cold and tired and may not have taken as much time as they normally would have because of the weather. Our expectations of this medium ( metal) was fully confirmed and we couldn't be happier with our choice. Thank you Ralf C.

Review: August 15, 2019 Completion: October 13, 2017

We live in Tigard Oregon. We were able to schedule the installation of the new roof just before the Rainy season began. We had the old shingles removed and found that our plywood was rotting and that it could not support the nails for the new metal roof. Interlock removed the rotting plywood and then we found that some of the supporting roof truss pieces were also rotting and cracking. So Interlock also replaced them. The price for the additional work was reasonable and though it all took longer to accomplish the goal, they worked hard and efficiently and it was completed before it began raining seriously. We continue to be thankful and we enjoy our new roof!

Review: January 20, 2026 Completion: August 10, 2001

Fast response and excellent work. The technician drop by within couple of days, found the cause, and provided quote. The price was reasonable for the work scope. They were able to secure the work slot as soon as the raining season was over and kept me informed on the schedule. In addition, they inspected remaining roof as well. Note: the leak was due to gutter pulling the corner flashing. The 10+ year Interlock roof tile remained good.

Prompt, ongoing communication from bid to follow up after completion. Install crew was professional and polite. We had an involved tear-off and they spread tarps overnight in case of dew. Finished job looks great.

Interlock handled our roofing project with skill and expertise. Many other local roofers ran away from even bidding the job due to the complexity of our roof line. The result is exquisite and I'm hopeful any further service needed over the years will go just as smoothly as the install did. Positive, Quality, Value, Services: Roof installation

Review: February 3, 2016 Completion: October 30, 2015

We had already decided on a metal roof when we came across Interlock. It was one of those things where we were looking for a product with a quality standard that could match up to what we wanted. I’ll say this, Interlock works a bit differently from most of the roofing people we talked to. You’re going to talk to a sales person at your home visit, but don’t let that put you off. They’re knowledgeable and if you haven’t done your research, there will be some great information in the whole thing that’s really worth soaking up. Anyway, we were satisfied with the quality of the product in hand and decided to go ahead and go with Interlock. The install was delayed by a week due to some shipping issues, but that was really the beginning and end of the troubles. The Interlock folks let me know what was going on and when they’d have it sorted. All fine by me. It’s a lifetime roof, I’m not too upset if it takes an extra week to put it on. As I understand it, mine was a bit of a one-off problem anyway. The roofers were professional, quick, and thorough. Great people who worked quickly, cleanly, and the cleanup at the end of the day was nigh on amazing. Apparently the shipping issues on my initial order led to the final install of a very few pieces being delayed a few days, but before I knew it they were back out and finishing the job. Along they way they kept me updated on anything I needed to know. The finished product is the real question, I guess. And man, let me tell you. We’re more than happy with how it looks on the house. It’s especially crazy knowing that something that looks that good is going to last. You see standing-seam metal roofs all over and even with these you sort of wonder how “metal” the Interlock system is going to look. It looks great. Seriously, even right in the driveway it’s hard to tell it’s not either a slate or colored shingle roof. It’s really beautiful and it’s going to be there without the need for constant maintenance for a long, long time. That really makes the cost worth it. If you’re thinking about a metal roof, give Interlock a serious thought. The sticker price might make you jump a little in some areas than others, but now that it’s on the house I am happy we decided to go that way. It’s beautiful, it’s going to last a good long time, and there’s a certain confidence I get from knowing I’ll be dealing with the people who make it if there’s a problem.

Metal Roofing FAQs for Homeowners in Scholls

The following metal roofing FAQs are designed specifically for homeowners in Scholls, Oregon. Whether you are building a new home or replacing an existing roof, understanding how roofing materials perform in local weather conditions is essential. From wind and storm protection to fire resistance, hail impact, snow loads, and coastal moisture exposure, Interlock’s Lifetime Aluminum Roofing System is engineered to provide long-term durability, energy efficiency, and peace of mind in Scholls.

Does a metal roof handle Scholls' heavy rainfall without leaking?

Yes—Scholls receives about 1208 mm of rain annually, and Interlock's four-way interlocking aluminum panels are engineered to shed water faster than asphalt. Water runs off the standing seams and ridges without pooling; the overlapping design creates a continuous barrier. When installed to spec over solid decking with underlayment (standard in the Pacific Northwest), the system performs identically to asphalt in wet climates—no leaks. ICC-ES evaluation ESR-1790 confirms compliance with IBC/IRC water-resistance requirements.

Will a metal roof stay secure in Scholls' winter wind gusts?

Absolutely. Scholls experiences typical gusts up to 120 km/h, and Interlock panels are warranted to withstand wind speeds up to 120 mph—168 km/h. The four-way interlocking design locks panels at all edges, distributing wind load across the entire system rather than stressing individual fasteners. Each panel mechanically engages its neighbors, so gusts that might loosen a single shingle have nowhere to grip. This continuous locking is why the warranty covers 120 mph winds when installed to specification.

Can my Scholls home's roof frame handle a metal roof without expensive reinforcement?

Yes—no structural upgrades needed. Interlock's Cedar Shingle profile weighs just 0.41 lb/sq ft, and even the heavier Mediterranean Tile at 0.59 lb/sq ft is approximately 96% lighter than traditional tile or slate. Most Scholls homes built after the 1980s can support this load without modification. Because aluminum is so light, Interlock installs directly over most existing asphalt roofs, eliminating tear-off costs and letting you avoid the landfill cycle immediately. Your framers and engineer will confirm this during the site inspection.

Why do aluminum roofs outperform steel in Scholls' wet winters?

Aluminum literally cannot rust because it contains no iron. Interlock uses roofing-grade 3105-H24 aluminum alloy (ASTM B209), and when exposed to air, it forms a transparent oxide layer that seals the metal and actually self-heals if scratched. Scholls' marine-influenced climate and 37 annual freeze-thaw cycles are exactly where aluminum outperforms steel. The Alunar 70% PVDF fluorocarbon coating—applied to both sides—adds 30-year durability against chalking and fading, protecting the underlying aluminum long past typical asphalt replacement intervals.

Does a metal roof reduce hail damage claims in Washington County?

Metal roofs handle hail better than asphalt, and Interlock carries the highest available hail rating: UL 2218 Class 4 impact resistance. The warranty even covers perforation from hailstones up to 1.5 inches—far larger than typical Pacific Northwest hail. While Washington County doesn't see frequent severe hail, spring storms can occur. Contact your insurer to ask about premium reductions for Class 4-rated roofs; many carriers offer discounts because metal roofs file fewer claims. The solid aluminum construction simply absorbs impacts that would crack or puncture asphalt shingles.

Will an Interlock metal roof lower cooling costs in Scholls?

Yes, particularly in summer. Scholls receives about 3033 hours of sunshine annually, and energy-efficiency-certified Interlock colors achieve thermal emissivity of 0.84 and solar reflectance up to 0.55, meaning they reflect heat that dark asphalt absorbs. Over Scholls' mild 11.2°C average year, this translates to measurably lower cooling-season demand. The Cool Roof Rating Council verification backs this performance. While Scholls is not a hot climate, the reflectivity helps during June–August, and winter heat loss is negligible because the insulation below the roof—not the roof itself—controls that factor.

What's the actual warranty on an Interlock metal roof?

Interlock offers The Guardian lifetime limited warranty—non-prorated for the original owner, covering rusting, rotting, splitting, cracking, curling, and loss of impact resistance. This is the only roof you'll buy for your home. When you sell, the warranty transfers once to the next owner for a full 50 years from completion. No other roofing material matches this combination: the aluminum substrate never corrodes, the 30-year Alunar coating is independently tested, and the transferable term increases your home's resale appeal. That's why Interlock has been manufactured since 1998—longevity sells itself.

Is a metal roof Class A fire-rated for Oregon insurance?

Yes. Interlock aluminum is non-combustible, and Class A fire classification is available. This meets Oregon's and Washington County's fire-safety codes and may qualify you for homeowners insurance discounts in areas prone to wildfire exposure. Since aluminum contains no fuel and won't ignite or support combustion, it performs identically whether in coastal salt-air homes (where Interlock installs routinely) or inland. Some insurers explicitly reward non-combustible roofing; request a quote comparison with your current carrier to see potential savings.

How much maintenance does a metal roof need compared to asphalt?

Metal requires dramatically less. Asphalt shingles demand moss removal (common in wet Scholls climates), gutter clearing after debris falls, and routine inspections for granule loss or curling—often every 2–3 years. Interlock aluminum sheds moss, never curls, doesn't lose granules, and won't rot. Rain (1208 mm annually) and freeze-thaw cycles (37 days) that age asphalt simply run off smooth aluminum. Most owners inspect gutters once yearly and that's it. The CALGreen verification confirms reduced maintenance burden. This compounds over decades: fewer roof contractor visits and no early emergency repairs save thousands.

Is Interlock metal roofing actually recyclable?

Yes—approximately 95% recyclable. Aluminum never loses recyclability; it can be melted and reformed infinitely without degradation. When your Interlock roof eventually reaches end-of-life (a century or more away), the aluminum will return to the recycling stream for new roofing, automotive, or aerospace uses. Asphalt shingles, by contrast, are difficult to recycle and typically landfilled; Scholls residents contribute to this waste cycle with roof replacements every 20 years. By choosing Interlock now, you break that pattern, eliminate the tear-off disposal cost, and ensure the material cycles indefinitely. This aligns with Oregon's sustainability goals and your home's long-term environmental impact.
