Interlock® Aluminum Roofing — all-climates performance specs for Laurelwood, Oregon
| Spec / Rating | Climate / Risk Factor + What It Solves |
|---|---|
| Wind resistance: 120+ mph (193+ kph) | Extreme wind, hurricanes, storm uplift: full interlocking attachment helps prevent blow-offs, edge lifting, and panel loss in high-gust events. |
| Fire rating: Class A (with proper assembly) | Wildfire, embers, radiant heat, chimney sparks: non-combustible roof assembly provides the highest residential fire protection rating. |
| Hail resistance: UL 2218 Class 4 | Hail and impact debris: highest impact classification; resists cracking, splitting, and surface loss common with asphalt under hail strikes. |
| Snow & ice performance: interlocking, shedding profile | Heavy snow, freeze-thaw, ice dams: smooth aluminum sheds snow efficiently and the interlocking design helps block water intrusion when melt-refreeze cycles occur. (Final snow-load capacity depends on roof structure and local code.) |
| Corrosion resistance: aluminum (won’t rust) | Salt air, coastal humidity, wet climates: aluminum naturally resists rust and corrosion, reducing long-term failure risk in marine or high-moisture environments. |
| Heat / UV durability: baked-on coating system | High heat, intense sun, thermal cycling: coatings resist UV breakdown and temperature-swing fatigue, slowing fading and surface degradation. |
| Moss / algae resistance: smooth coated surface | Wet shade, organic growth: low-porosity metal surface gives moss/algae less to grip, reducing staining and maintenance. |
| Material: heavy-gauge aluminum roof profiles (Slate / Shake / Shingle / Tile / Standing Seam) | All-season structural stability: lightweight, dent-resistant metal system stays stable through large hot-cold swings and severe weather. |
| Expected lifespan: 50+ years | Long-term durability across climates: avoids re-roof cycles typical of shorter-life materials, even in high-stress environments. |
| Warranty: Lifetime-Limited, non-prorated + 50-year transferable | Lifetime protection + resale value: guarantees long-term material confidence and transfers to future owners. |

What our customers are saying:
We love our new roof. We sleep a lot better.
We think they did great. Damon Isbell and Michael Rasmussen were very knowledgeable and professional when they came to introduce the product to us.
I will NEVER recommend Interlock Roofing for any reason.
Installation crew was top notch and the roof looks amazing. Follow up from project manager when they say they will contact you ensure that they do reach out.
Had we to start over, looking for a new roof again, we would go with a high quality composite material. This was way more expensive and we won’t live long enough to make the investment worthwhile. Yes, it will increase the resale value, but I doubt it will be enough to offset the cost differential. Also, now there is no way for me to walk on this extremely steep and slippery metal roof. Cleaning the gutters on the dormers is too dangerous and I have been unable to find anyone willing to climb on a metal roof. My internet communication antenna is at the highest point of the roof and should it ever require service I am concerned of my service provider’s ability to access it. And yes, it has to be at the highest point to “see” the transceiver at the service provider’s end. The positive aspects are its appearance, fire resistance, and long life.
We saw the add on TV and knew a bit about Interlock Roofing and of course The “Never roof again”…. Slogan. Finally, we decided to contact them and make an appointment. I recommend to do your work and check your roof, have ANY kind of questions or doubts that are particular to your case and be ready for your appointment.Damon, our sales guy, was great and answer ALL, and by that meaning ALL questions that we have, for example:How long it takes? How invasive construction will be?What about our skylights? What about vents? What will happen to gutters? How many people will be in my Home?Debris?Warranty of the product?Warranty and insurance? What if I sell my home, warranty? When will work start?…… WELL, and probably 20 more questions.I already helped you tons with this examples of question.Again, Damon was great and on point and also very HAPPY to be challenged by a well involved client (Us).Finally, WE WENT FOR IT !!!!!! and ………WE LOVE IT !!!!! LOVE IT ! LOVE IT!My deeply THANKS TO :MARK / TIM / VICTOR AND of course the wonderful PETER; these guys were our installers and we communicated well and they were FAST AND IMPECCABLE.Now, let’s consider the times that we are living in….There was some waiting, there were jobs ahead of ours, and everything depends on nature too, so considering All of that….. WE LOVE THE ROOF! The look! The fact that we WON’T reroof again. We hope this helps you on your decision to go with Interlock. Positive: Quality, Professionalism, Value Services: Roof installation
I looked into replacing my roof and found that with modern composite shingles I will end end replacing it numerous times in my lifetime. With Interlock it's one and done. The roof I got was red aluminum in a slate style and it looks great; best roof in my neighborhood, hands down. In fact it's fun to see cars driving by and notice the driver staring at the new roof. Also, I've received numerous compliments from passersby about how great the roof looks. Other points are that the install was quick and skillful and needless to say, I have no leaks. Positive, Professionalism, Services: Roof installation
I picked up a significant number of old shingle refuse, flashing remnants, and many aluminum nails around our entire property and in our gutters. A more thorough cleaning would have been preferred.

Metal Roofing FAQs for Homeowners in Laurelwood
The following metal roofing FAQs are designed specifically for homeowners in Laurelwood, Oregon. Whether you are building a new home or replacing an existing roof, understanding how roofing materials perform in local weather conditions is essential. From wind and storm protection to fire resistance, hail impact, snow loads, and coastal moisture exposure, Interlock’s Lifetime Aluminum Roofing System is engineered to provide long-term durability, energy efficiency, and peace of mind in Laurelwood.
Does metal roofing handle heavy rain well? I'm worried about leaks in Laurelwood's wet climate.
Four-way interlocking aluminum panels shed water reliably even during Laurelwood's ~1208 mm annual rainfall. The panels overlap on all four sides, creating a drainage path that moves water downslope without pooling. Unlike asphalt shingles that degrade under sustained moisture, aluminum's oxide layer actually strengthens with exposure. Proper underlayment and solid deck installation—standard practice with Interlock Metal Roofing (PNW)—ensures leak protection equivalent to or better than traditional roofing, with no water intrusion at seams.
How will a metal roof hold up to Laurelwood's wind gusts?
Laurelwood experiences wind gusts near 120 km/h, and Interlock metal roofing is warranted to resist sustained winds up to 120 mph (193 km/h) when installed to specification. The four-way interlocking system locks panels together mechanically, distributing wind load across the entire roof rather than allowing individual panels to lift. UL testing confirms the system's structural integrity under extreme conditions. Local installer Interlock Metal Roofing (PNW) has installed thousands of roofs in similar Pacific Northwest wind patterns since 1997.
Isn't metal roofing too expensive compared to asphalt shingles?
Metal roofing costs more upfront than asphalt but typically outlasts it by 40+ years, making it the last roof most homeowners install. Over a 50-year span, you'll replace asphalt 3–4 times while Interlock's lifetime limited warranty covers the original owner indefinitely and transfers 50 years to the next owner. Current promotion: no payments and no interest until Spring 2027 or 10% off installation. When you factor in landfill costs, labor for multiple replacements, and energy savings from reflective energy-efficiency coatings (up to 0.55 initial solar reflectance), aluminum becomes the lower-cost choice by lifespan's end.
I live near the coast sometimes—will my aluminum roof rust?
Aluminum cannot rust because it contains no iron; it forms a self-healing oxide layer that actually protects the metal underneath. Roofing-grade 3105-H24 aluminum alloy (ASTM B209) is paired with Alunar 70% PVDF fluorocarbon coating applied to both sides, warranted 30 years against chalking and fading. In salt-air environments and high-moisture regions like Laurelwood—which receives ~1208 mm rain annually—this dual-layer defense outperforms steel, which corrodes from the inside out. Interlock has installed roofs from coastal saltwater homes to Antarctic research stations.
What happens if hail damages my metal roof?
Interlock metal roofing holds a UL 2218 Class 4 impact rating—the highest available—and the Guardian warranty even covers perforation from hailstones up to 1.5 inches. This durability may qualify you for homeowner's insurance discounts; contact your insurer with the UL 2218 Class 4 designation. The lightweight Shake profile (~0.58 lb/sq ft) and Slate (~0.41 lb/sq ft) flex slightly on impact without cracking, unlike brittle asphalt or tile. Over a 50-year roof life in a typical Pacific Northwest climate, proven hail resistance reduces both repair costs and insurance claims.
Will my house need structural reinforcement for a metal roof?
No structural reinforcement is needed. Interlock's aluminum panels weigh extraordinarily little—the Slate profile installs at just 0.41 lb/sq ft, and even the heavier Mediterranean Tile profile (~0.59 lb/sq ft) is about 96% lighter than concrete or clay tile. Most existing roofs support metal installation without modification. This light weight is especially valuable in Laurelwood, where ~29 cm of snow falls annually; the lower dead load means less stress on framing during freeze–thaw cycles (about 37 per year). Installation over existing asphalt is routine, saving labor and landfill costs.
Is a metal roof fireproof?
Aluminum is non-combustible and Interlock offers Class A fire classification—the highest rating available. Aluminum roofing cannot ignite, spread flame, or contribute smoke in a fire, meeting ICC-ES ESR-1790 evaluation (IBC/IRC, reissued 2025). This Class A rating may lower homeowner's insurance premiums and provides peace of mind in wildfire-prone regions. In contrast, asphalt shingles are combustible and contribute to ember spotting. Whether or not you're in a high-fire zone, a non-combustible roof adds durable safety with no maintenance burden over the roof's 50+ year life.
Can a metal roof help lower my cooling costs?
Yes. Interlock offers energy-efficient colors with initial solar reflectance up to 0.55 (Aged Copper Penny profile) and thermal emissivity of 0.84, rated by the Cool Roof Rating Council. These reflective coatings bounce heat away that asphalt absorbs and traps. In Laurelwood's ~3033 annual sunshine hours, this reflectivity reduces attic temperature and cooling load, lowering summer energy bills. The 30-year warranty on the Alunar PVDF coating ensures the reflectance remains stable, unlike asphalt that darkens with age and loses reflectivity. Combined with proper ventilation, metal roofing works with your home's thermal envelope.
How long does a metal roof last, and what does the warranty cover?
Interlock metal roofing typically lasts 50+ years with The Guardian lifetime limited warranty for the original owner—non-prorated, covering rusting, rotting, splitting, cracking, curling, and loss of impact resistance. The warranty transfers once to the next owner for a 50-year term from completion, adding resale appeal. The Alunar PVDF coating is separately warranted 30 years against fading and chalking (ASTM D4214/D2244 measured). In Laurelwood's climate—~1208 mm rain, ~37 freeze–thaw cycles yearly, and gusts to 120 km/h—this durability and transfer term eliminate the asphalt replacement cycle and provide long-term cost certainty.
Who installs Interlock metal roofing in Laurelwood, Oregon?
Interlock Metal Roofing (PNW) Inc. has served the region since 1997 and is the local expert for Laurelwood and Washington County. They install all five Interlock profiles—Slate, Cedar Shingle, Shake, Standing Seam, and Mediterranean Tile—and specialize in retrofitting over existing roofs. The installer is familiar with local building codes (ICC-ES ESR-1790 compliance), regional weather patterns (~120 km/h gusts, 29 cm snow load), and Laurelwood's architectural character. Current promotion offers no payments and no interest until Spring 2027 or 10% off installation. Contact them for a free assessment and warranty registration.
Is a metal roof a good choice for Laurelwood’s climate?
Yes. Laurelwood averages about 29 cm of snow, 1208 mm of rain, roughly 37 freeze–thaw days a year, with peak wind gusts near 120 km/h. Interlock® aluminum roofing is wind-rated to 193+ km/h (120 mph), UL 2218 Class 4 impact-rated and Class A fire-rated, and its four-way interlocking panels shed snow and resist ice dams and freeze–thaw cracking — all backed by a lifetime limited, transferable warranty.
