Interlock® Aluminum Roofing — all-climates performance specs for Dilley, Oregon
| Spec / Rating | Climate / Risk Factor + What It Solves |
|---|---|
| Wind resistance: 120+ mph (193+ kph) | Extreme wind, hurricanes, storm uplift: full interlocking attachment helps prevent blow-offs, edge lifting, and panel loss in high-gust events. |
| Fire rating: Class A (with proper assembly) | Wildfire, embers, radiant heat, chimney sparks: non-combustible roof assembly provides the highest residential fire protection rating. |
| Hail resistance: UL 2218 Class 4 | Hail and impact debris: highest impact classification; resists cracking, splitting, and surface loss common with asphalt under hail strikes. |
| Snow & ice performance: interlocking, shedding profile | Heavy snow, freeze-thaw, ice dams: smooth aluminum sheds snow efficiently and the interlocking design helps block water intrusion when melt-refreeze cycles occur. (Final snow-load capacity depends on roof structure and local code.) |
| Corrosion resistance: aluminum (won’t rust) | Salt air, coastal humidity, wet climates: aluminum naturally resists rust and corrosion, reducing long-term failure risk in marine or high-moisture environments. |
| Heat / UV durability: baked-on coating system | High heat, intense sun, thermal cycling: coatings resist UV breakdown and temperature-swing fatigue, slowing fading and surface degradation. |
| Moss / algae resistance: smooth coated surface | Wet shade, organic growth: low-porosity metal surface gives moss/algae less to grip, reducing staining and maintenance. |
| Material: heavy-gauge aluminum roof profiles (Slate / Shake / Shingle / Tile / Standing Seam) | All-season structural stability: lightweight, dent-resistant metal system stays stable through large hot-cold swings and severe weather. |
| Expected lifespan: 50+ years | Long-term durability across climates: avoids re-roof cycles typical of shorter-life materials, even in high-stress environments. |
| Warranty: Lifetime-Limited, non-prorated + 50-year transferable | Lifetime protection + resale value: guarantees long-term material confidence and transfers to future owners. |

What our customers are saying:
I will NEVER recommend Interlock Roofing for any reason.
We love our new roof. We sleep a lot better.
We think they did great. Damon Isbell and Michael Rasmussen were very knowledgeable and professional when they came to introduce the product to us.
Installation crew was top notch and the roof looks amazing. Follow up from project manager when they say they will contact you ensure that they do reach out.
Had we to start over, looking for a new roof again, we would go with a high quality composite material. This was way more expensive and we won’t live long enough to make the investment worthwhile. Yes, it will increase the resale value, but I doubt it will be enough to offset the cost differential. Also, now there is no way for me to walk on this extremely steep and slippery metal roof. Cleaning the gutters on the dormers is too dangerous and I have been unable to find anyone willing to climb on a metal roof. My internet communication antenna is at the highest point of the roof and should it ever require service I am concerned of my service provider’s ability to access it. And yes, it has to be at the highest point to “see” the transceiver at the service provider’s end. The positive aspects are its appearance, fire resistance, and long life.
We saw the add on TV and knew a bit about Interlock Roofing and of course The “Never roof again”…. Slogan. Finally, we decided to contact them and make an appointment. I recommend to do your work and check your roof, have ANY kind of questions or doubts that are particular to your case and be ready for your appointment.Damon, our sales guy, was great and answer ALL, and by that meaning ALL questions that we have, for example:How long it takes? How invasive construction will be?What about our skylights? What about vents? What will happen to gutters? How many people will be in my Home?Debris?Warranty of the product?Warranty and insurance? What if I sell my home, warranty? When will work start?…… WELL, and probably 20 more questions.I already helped you tons with this examples of question.Again, Damon was great and on point and also very HAPPY to be challenged by a well involved client (Us).Finally, WE WENT FOR IT !!!!!! and ………WE LOVE IT !!!!! LOVE IT ! LOVE IT!My deeply THANKS TO :MARK / TIM / VICTOR AND of course the wonderful PETER; these guys were our installers and we communicated well and they were FAST AND IMPECCABLE.Now, let’s consider the times that we are living in….There was some waiting, there were jobs ahead of ours, and everything depends on nature too, so considering All of that….. WE LOVE THE ROOF! The look! The fact that we WON’T reroof again. We hope this helps you on your decision to go with Interlock. Positive: Quality, Professionalism, Value Services: Roof installation
I looked into replacing my roof and found that with modern composite shingles I will end end replacing it numerous times in my lifetime. With Interlock it's one and done. The roof I got was red aluminum in a slate style and it looks great; best roof in my neighborhood, hands down. In fact it's fun to see cars driving by and notice the driver staring at the new roof. Also, I've received numerous compliments from passersby about how great the roof looks. Other points are that the install was quick and skillful and needless to say, I have no leaks. Positive, Professionalism, Services: Roof installation
I picked up a significant number of old shingle refuse, flashing remnants, and many aluminum nails around our entire property and in our gutters. A more thorough cleaning would have been preferred.

Metal Roofing FAQs for Homeowners in Dilley
The following metal roofing FAQs are designed specifically for homeowners in Dilley, Oregon. Whether you are building a new home or replacing an existing roof, understanding how roofing materials perform in local weather conditions is essential. From wind and storm protection to fire resistance, hail impact, snow loads, and coastal moisture exposure, Interlock’s Lifetime Aluminum Roofing System is engineered to provide long-term durability, energy efficiency, and peace of mind in Dilley.
Can I get a metal roof that looks like slate or cedar shake in Dilley?
Yes. Interlock offers five profiles—Slate, Cedar Shingle, Shake, Standing Seam, and Mediterranean Tile—each with authentic texture and shadow lines. The four-way interlocking aluminum panels are manufactured to replicate traditional materials' appearance while delivering aluminum's durability. In Dilley's wet climate (about 1208 mm annual rainfall and 37 freeze-thaw cycles per year), these profiles resist the wood rot, slate cracking, and clay tile breakage that plague authentic materials. Choose the aesthetic you want without the maintenance burden.
Is a metal roof worth the upfront cost compared to asphalt shingles?
Metal roofing costs more initially but eliminates the asphalt replacement cycle: you typically install asphalt shingles three times in a metal roof's lifetime, making the total cost of ownership far lower. Interlock's Guardian warranty is lifetime limited and non-prorated for the original owner, transferable for 50 years to the next owner—protecting your investment across decades. With Dilley's 120 km/h wind gusts and heavy moisture exposure, asphalt deteriorates faster, driving replacement cycles even shorter. Metal roofs end that expense and the landfill waste.
How long does a metal roof really last, and what does the warranty actually cover?
Your metal roof will outlast you. Interlock's Guardian warranty covers the original owner for life against rusting, rotting, splitting, cracking, curling, and loss of impact resistance—no prorated deductibles. The warranty transfers once, giving the next owner 50 years of protection from the completion date. Most Dilley homeowners will never replace this roof; your children may inherit it. That permanence, combined with 3105-H24 aluminum that cannot rust and a 30-year Alunar fluorocarbon coating warranty, makes metal roofing a legacy investment, not a scheduled maintenance item.
Why doesn't aluminum rust like steel roofing, especially in wet Oregon weather?
Aluminum contains no iron—iron is what rusts. Instead, aluminum forms an oxide layer that protects the metal beneath; if scratched, this oxide layer self-heals naturally. Steel roofing corrodes because iron oxidizes when exposed to Dilley's 1208 mm annual rainfall and 37 freeze-thaw days. Interlock uses roofing-grade 3105-H24 and 3003-H24 aluminum alloy (ASTM B209) plus a two-sided Alunar 70% PVDF fluorocarbon finish for additional protection. In salt-air environments and wet climates, aluminum's chemistry makes it inherently corrosion-resistant—no constant vigilance required.
Can my house handle a metal roof, or do I need to reinforce the structure?
No structural reinforcement is needed. Interlock's Slate profile installs at just 0.41 lb/sq ft, Shake at 0.58 lb/sq ft, and Mediterranean Tile at 0.59 lb/sq ft—about 96% lighter than concrete or clay tile. You can install Interlock directly over most existing roofs without adding support. For comparison, traditional tile weighs roughly 15 lb/sq ft; Interlock's Tile profile weighs less than 1 lb/sq ft. This weight advantage matters in Dilley, where winter snow (about 29 cm annually) and 120 km/h gusts create load stress—lighter roofing distributes forces more evenly and reduces structural strain.
Will a metal roof blow off in Dilley's wind and storm gusts?
No. Interlock panels are four-way interlocking and warranted to resist wind speeds up to 120 mph (193 km/h) when installed to specification. Dilley's typical gusts reach 120 km/h—well within the warranty envelope. The interlocking system creates a unified assembly; wind cannot lift individual panels. High wind events that damage asphalt shingles (common in Oregon's coastal valleys) leave Interlock intact. Combined with the UL 2218 Class 4 hail rating and tested durability across Antarctica research stations to coastal salt-air homes, Interlock's locking design keeps you protected through Dilley's stormiest days.
Does Interlock hold up to hail, and could I save money on insurance?
Yes on both counts. Interlock carries UL 2218 Class 4 impact rating—the highest available—and the Guardian warranty covers perforation from hailstones up to 1.5 inches. That extreme rating often qualifies homeowners for insurance discounts because hail damage claims drop dramatically. In Dilley's variable climate (averaging 3033 sunshine hours annually but subject to spring and fall storms), hail risk varies yearly; Class 4 protection eliminates that year-to-year claim anxiety. Many insurers reduce premiums for Class 4 metal roofs. Check with your agent, but the physics are clear: solid aluminum panels absorb impact energy that would crack asphalt or clay tile.
How much upkeep does a metal roof need compared to asphalt or wood shake?
Almost none. Interlock aluminum requires no chemical treatment, re-coating, or debris removal like wood shake does. Unlike asphalt, it doesn't granulate and doesn't need protective coating reapplication. The two-sided Alunar 70% PVDF finish (warranted 30 years against chalking and fading per ASTM D4214) protects through Dilley's moisture and UV exposure without maintenance. Occasional gutter cleaning and seasonal inspection suffice. Traditional wood shake splits from freeze-thaw cycles (Dilley averages 37 per year); asphalt curls and loses granules in rain. Metal simply endures. That's why the ICC-ES evaluation report (ESR-1790, reissued 2025) and CALGreen verification credit metal roofing for reduced maintenance burden.
With 1200+ mm of rain a year in Dilley, will water leak through the seams?
No. Four-way interlocking panels overlap like shingles, creating a barrier that sheds water downward before it reaches seams. Heavy rainfall (Dilley averages about 1208 mm annually) flows off the texture—Slate, Cedar Shingle, and Shake profiles create shadow lines that guide water outward. Installation over solid decking with underlayment (standard practice by Interlock Metal Roofing PNW Inc.) ensures any water that finds a seam drains harmlessly beneath the roofing system. The interlocking design, proven across decades in the wet Pacific Northwest and in Antarctic research stations, eliminates the leak points that plague standing-seam or improperly overlapped systems.
Is metal roofing fire-safe, and does it meet Oregon building codes?
Yes. Interlock offers Class A fire classification (non-combustible aluminum) and holds ICC-ES evaluation report ESR-1790, reissued 2025, confirming compliance with IBC and IRC codes that Oregon adopts. Because aluminum is non-combustible, it cannot ignite or spread flames—a major safety advantage over asphalt shingles and wood shake, both of which are combustible. Class A rating is the highest fire safety rating available. In Dilley's wet climate (averaging 1208 mm rain and 29 cm snow annually), fire risk from roof materials is lower than in dry regions, but Class A protection matters for peace of mind, insurance rates, and code compliance when you're building or re-roofing.
Is a metal roof a good choice for Dilley’s climate?
Yes. Dilley averages about 29 cm of snow, 1208 mm of rain, roughly 37 freeze–thaw days a year, with peak wind gusts near 120 km/h. Interlock® aluminum roofing is wind-rated to 193+ km/h (120 mph), UL 2218 Class 4 impact-rated and Class A fire-rated, and its four-way interlocking panels shed snow and resist ice dams and freeze–thaw cracking — all backed by a lifetime limited, transferable warranty.
