Interlock was a great process, their sales team was very helpful and knowledgeable, the install team had the old roofing removed and the new one installed in a few days. We chose the black "slate" panels and it looks awesome and it doesn't sound much different in the rain than our old asphalt shingles. A bit of an investment but I'm glad we went with interlock.

We were so impressed with Interlock Roofing. The entire process was great from sales, to installation to clean up. They made the process easy even when we had a few curveballs for them. They worked with us wonderfully the entire time and our roof looks amazing. The installation team was so nice and respectful. Our roof is beautiful.

It's expensive, but other than that - a great roof. Interlock Roofing could have improved on their communication between salesman and installers.

Review: September 15, 2019 Completion: December 6, 2016

Interlock Roofing did a very good job of installing our roof. I was worried that it would be a little too hard to do this in the middle of winter, but they did a great job. I would recommend this company to anyone contemplating a metal roof for their home. The only negative comment I have is the clean-up could have been a bit better. I covered my gutters after the roof was installed, and found a lot of debris in the gutters as well as on the ground. The debris were mostly pieces of cut metal tiles with very sharp edges. In fact I found this debris on the ground for several months after the job was completed. I suspect that the installation crew was cold and tired and may not have taken as much time as they normally would have because of the weather. Our expectations of this medium ( metal) was fully confirmed and we couldn't be happier with our choice. Thank you Ralf C.

Review: August 15, 2019 Completion: October 13, 2017

We live in Tigard Oregon. We were able to schedule the installation of the new roof just before the Rainy season began. We had the old shingles removed and found that our plywood was rotting and that it could not support the nails for the new metal roof. Interlock removed the rotting plywood and then we found that some of the supporting roof truss pieces were also rotting and cracking. So Interlock also replaced them. The price for the additional work was reasonable and though it all took longer to accomplish the goal, they worked hard and efficiently and it was completed before it began raining seriously. We continue to be thankful and we enjoy our new roof!

Metal Roofing FAQs for Homeowners in Bull Mountain

The following metal roofing FAQs are designed specifically for homeowners in Bull Mountain, Oregon. Whether you are building a new home or replacing an existing roof, understanding how roofing materials perform in local weather conditions is essential. From wind and storm protection to fire resistance, hail impact, snow loads, and coastal moisture exposure, Interlock’s Lifetime Aluminum Roofing System is engineered to provide long-term durability, energy efficiency, and peace of mind in Bull Mountain.

Will a metal roof rust in Oregon's wet climate?

No—aluminum cannot rust because it contains no iron. When exposed to Bull Mountain's roughly 1208 mm of annual rainfall, aluminum develops a naturally protective oxide layer that actually self-heals when scratched. Unlike steel roofing, which requires constant vigilance in wet regions, your aluminum panels stay corrosion-free for life. The Alunar 70% PVDF fluorocarbon finish adds a second layer of defense, warranted for 30 years against fading, giving you complete peace of mind through decades of the Pacific Northwest's dampest seasons.

Can metal roofing handle Bull Mountain's wind gusts?

Yes—Interlock roofing is engineered for severe wind conditions. The four-way interlocking aluminum panels are warranted to resist sustained winds up to 120 mph, and Bull Mountain's typical gusts reach about 120 km/h (75 mph), well within that threshold. The interlocking design distributes wind pressure across the entire roof system rather than relying on fasteners alone. Even during the occasional stronger gust, the panels hold firm. This engineering is proven in coastal salt-air installations and verified in ICC-ES evaluation report ESR-1790, giving you confidence through winter storm season.

Does metal roofing hold up to hail, and can I get insurance savings?

Absolutely. Interlock achieves the highest impact rating available—UL 2218 Class 4—and the warranty even covers perforation from hailstones up to 1.5 inches. The roofing-grade aluminum alloy (3105-H24 / 3003-H24) flexes and springs back where asphalt or cedar would puncture. Many insurers recognize this durability and offer premium discounts; contact your agent with the UL 2218 Class 4 rating to explore savings. In a region with variable weather, that combination of proven impact resistance and potential insurance relief makes this investment work harder for you.

Is metal roofing so light it can't protect my home like real slate or tile?

Light weight is actually a major advantage—not a weakness. The Interlock Mediterranean Tile profile weighs about 0.59 lb/sq ft, roughly 96% lighter than concrete or clay tile, so no expensive structural reinforcement is needed. You can install it over most existing roofs, saving thousands in labor and materials. That featherweight aluminum (roofing-grade 3003-H24 and 3105-H24 alloys) provides the same weather protection and aesthetic as heavy materials while your home's framing stays uncompromised. With about 37 freeze-thaw cycles per year in Bull Mountain, the flexibility of lightweight panels actually resists stress that rigid materials accumulate.

Will a metal roof actually reduce my heating and cooling costs?

Your cooling costs drop because energy-efficient Interlock colors reflect rather than absorb solar heat. The reflective coating achieves initial solar reflectance up to 0.55 and thermal emissivity of 0.84, so heat bounces away instead of building up in your attic. With Bull Mountain receiving about 3033 sunshine hours per year, that reflection compounds across every sunny day. The Cool Roof Rating Council rating means you're not fighting asphalt's dark absorption during warmer months. Lower energy bills and a more comfortable home—the science is straightforward, and your utility statements prove it over time.

How does metal roofing keep water out in a place that gets 1200 mm of rain a year?

The four-way interlocking design and standing-seam profiles shed water downward and outward by design—water cannot pool or back up into seams. Combined with proper underlayment and a solid deck (standard installation), Interlock roofing performs like asphalt in rain protection, but without the degradation asphalt shingles suffer over time. Bull Mountain's average 1208 mm of annual rainfall means your roof faces constant moisture; the locked panel system, verified in ICC-ES ESR-1790 for IBC/IRC compliance, handles that load reliably. Gutters manage the volume, and the roofing keeps water out where it counts—at the surface.

What's the real lifespan of a metal roof, and what does the warranty cover?

The Guardian warranty is lifetime limited, non-prorated material coverage for the original owner—it covers rusting, rotting, splitting, cracking, curling, and loss of impact resistance. That's rare. The warranty transfers once to the next owner, who receives 50 years of protection from completion. In practice, aluminum roofs in service since 1998 are still performing, including installations in harsh Antarctic and coastal salt-air environments. For Bull Mountain's roughly 37 annual freeze-thaw cycles and 1208 mm of rain, a roof system designed to last generations means you're buying your last roof, not another temporary fix.

How much maintenance does a metal roof need compared to asphalt or wood?

Metal roofing requires far less. Unlike asphalt shingles, which degrade under UV and need frequent inspection for cupping and granule loss, or cedar shake, which splits and rots especially in wet climates like Bull Mountain's, aluminum panels are CALGreen-verified for reduced maintenance. The Alunar 70% PVDF coating stays color-stable for 30 years, eliminating the chalk and fade that plague other materials. Periodic gutter cleaning and inspection are standard; the roofing itself doesn't. Over a 50-year lifespan, that adds up to genuine time and money saved—no moss treatment, no patch work, no surprise failures.

Can a metal roof be installed over my existing shingles, and how long does it take?

Yes, in most cases. The extraordinary lightness of Interlock panels—the Slate profile at just 0.41 lb/sq ft—means installation over existing asphalt rarely requires structural work. This saves money and time by eliminating costly tear-off and disposal. Installation itself is faster than traditional roofing; a typical residential project takes days rather than weeks. Because the panels are aluminum and weigh so little, work proceeds efficiently even during Bull Mountain's 1208 mm rainy season—the roof sheds water immediately, minimizing weather delays. Your installer will assess your specific structure and advise whether tear-off or overlay is best.

Is metal roofing fire-safe, especially for homes in forested areas?

Class A fire rating is available for Interlock aluminum roofing—non-combustible aluminum provides inherent fire safety. This is the highest fire classification you can achieve, important for any Bull Mountain property but especially those near wooded areas. The roofing-grade aluminum alloy cannot ignite or contribute to fire spread, reducing both your risk and insurance exposure. Combined with proper installation verified under ICC-ES ESR-1790 for IBC/IRC codes, you're protecting your home from one of the most serious threats. Peace of mind in a region where wildfire risk is a real consideration.

Is a metal roof a good choice for Bull Mountain’s climate?

Yes. Bull Mountain averages about 29 cm of snow, 1208 mm of rain, roughly 37 freeze–thaw days a year, with peak wind gusts near 120 km/h. Interlock® aluminum roofing is wind-rated to 193+ km/h (120 mph), UL 2218 Class 4 impact-rated and Class A fire-rated, and its four-way interlocking panels shed snow and resist ice dams and freeze–thaw cracking — all backed by a lifetime limited, transferable warranty.
