Interlock was a great process, their sales team was very helpful and knowledgeable, the install team had the old roofing removed and the new one installed in a few days. We chose the black "slate" panels and it looks awesome and it doesn't sound much different in the rain than our old asphalt shingles. A bit of an investment but I'm glad we went with interlock.

We were so impressed with Interlock Roofing. The entire process was great from sales, to installation to clean up. They made the process easy even when we had a few curveballs for them. They worked with us wonderfully the entire time and our roof looks amazing. The installation team was so nice and respectful. Our roof is beautiful.

Review: September 15, 2019 Completion: December 6, 2016

Interlock Roofing did a very good job of installing our roof. I was worried that it would be a little too hard to do this in the middle of winter, but they did a great job. I would recommend this company to anyone contemplating a metal roof for their home. The only negative comment I have is the clean-up could have been a bit better. I covered my gutters after the roof was installed, and found a lot of debris in the gutters as well as on the ground. The debris were mostly pieces of cut metal tiles with very sharp edges. In fact I found this debris on the ground for several months after the job was completed. I suspect that the installation crew was cold and tired and may not have taken as much time as they normally would have because of the weather. Our expectations of this medium ( metal) was fully confirmed and we couldn't be happier with our choice. Thank you Ralf C.

Review: August 15, 2019 Completion: October 13, 2017

We live in Tigard Oregon. We were able to schedule the installation of the new roof just before the Rainy season began. We had the old shingles removed and found that our plywood was rotting and that it could not support the nails for the new metal roof. Interlock removed the rotting plywood and then we found that some of the supporting roof truss pieces were also rotting and cracking. So Interlock also replaced them. The price for the additional work was reasonable and though it all took longer to accomplish the goal, they worked hard and efficiently and it was completed before it began raining seriously. We continue to be thankful and we enjoy our new roof!

Review: January 20, 2026 Completion: August 10, 2001

Fast response and excellent work. The technician drop by within couple of days, found the cause, and provided quote. The price was reasonable for the work scope. They were able to secure the work slot as soon as the raining season was over and kept me informed on the schedule. In addition, they inspected remaining roof as well. Note: the leak was due to gutter pulling the corner flashing. The 10+ year Interlock roof tile remained good.

Prompt, ongoing communication from bid to follow up after completion. Install crew was professional and polite. We had an involved tear-off and they spread tarps overnight in case of dew. Finished job looks great.

Interlock roof is the best. That is 12-15 years after we first got it. Perfect condition still! Never a second thought. Thanks

Review: October 15, 2023 Completion: July 13, 2023

Interlock handled our roofing project with skill and expertise. Many other local roofers ran away from even bidding the job due to the complexity of our roof line. The result is exquisite and I'm hopeful any further service needed over the years will go just as smoothly as the install did. Positive, Quality, Value, Services: Roof installation

Review: February 3, 2016 Completion: October 30, 2015

We had already decided on a metal roof when we came across Interlock. It was one of those things where we were looking for a product with a quality standard that could match up to what we wanted. I’ll say this, Interlock works a bit differently from most of the roofing people we talked to. You’re going to talk to a sales person at your home visit, but don’t let that put you off. They’re knowledgeable and if you haven’t done your research, there will be some great information in the whole thing that’s really worth soaking up. Anyway, we were satisfied with the quality of the product in hand and decided to go ahead and go with Interlock. The install was delayed by a week due to some shipping issues, but that was really the beginning and end of the troubles. The Interlock folks let me know what was going on and when they’d have it sorted. All fine by me. It’s a lifetime roof, I’m not too upset if it takes an extra week to put it on. As I understand it, mine was a bit of a one-off problem anyway. The roofers were professional, quick, and thorough. Great people who worked quickly, cleanly, and the cleanup at the end of the day was nigh on amazing. Apparently the shipping issues on my initial order led to the final install of a very few pieces being delayed a few days, but before I knew it they were back out and finishing the job. Along they way they kept me updated on anything I needed to know. The finished product is the real question, I guess. And man, let me tell you. We’re more than happy with how it looks on the house. It’s especially crazy knowing that something that looks that good is going to last. You see standing-seam metal roofs all over and even with these you sort of wonder how “metal” the Interlock system is going to look. It looks great. Seriously, even right in the driveway it’s hard to tell it’s not either a slate or colored shingle roof. It’s really beautiful and it’s going to be there without the need for constant maintenance for a long, long time. That really makes the cost worth it. If you’re thinking about a metal roof, give Interlock a serious thought. The sticker price might make you jump a little in some areas than others, but now that it’s on the house I am happy we decided to go that way. It’s beautiful, it’s going to last a good long time, and there’s a certain confidence I get from knowing I’ll be dealing with the people who make it if there’s a problem.

Damon my sales rep was fantastic and the installers were the height of professionalism3/8/2021So after the snow and ice storm last month my metal roof still looks great and for the first time in 22 years I didn't have to worry about losing shingles in the storm. Metal Roofing FAQs for Homeowners in Metzger

The following metal roofing FAQs are designed specifically for homeowners in Metzger, Oregon. Whether you are building a new home or replacing an existing roof, understanding how roofing materials perform in local weather conditions is essential. From wind and storm protection to fire resistance, hail impact, snow loads, and coastal moisture exposure, Interlock’s Lifetime Aluminum Roofing System is engineered to provide long-term durability, energy efficiency, and peace of mind in Metzger.

Does a metal roof handle Metzger's heavy rainfall without leaks?

Yes—Interlock's four-way interlocking aluminum panels shed water reliably even in Metzger's ~1208 mm annual rainfall. The panels overlap in four directions, creating a labyrinth that directs water away from seams and fasteners. Unlike asphalt, which degrades under constant moisture, aluminum's oxide layer actually protects the metal; it cannot rot or split. When installed to ESR-1790 code with proper underlayment and flashing, metal roofs deliver leak-free performance through decades of Pacific Northwest downpours.

Will a metal roof stay secure in Metzger's winter wind gusts?

Absolutely. Metzger experiences gusts that regularly reach 120 km/h, and Interlock's panels are warranted to resist wind speeds up to 120 mph (193 km/h) when installed to specification. The four-way interlocking design distributes uplift forces across the entire roof plane rather than concentrating stress at fasteners. This distributed-load engineering, combined with proper fastening into solid deck, means your roof won't lift, flutter, or shift during the seasonal windstorms common to Washington County.

Can an older Metzger home support a metal roof without reinforcement?

Yes—aluminum's extraordinary lightness eliminates structural concerns that other materials create. The Slate profile installs at just 0.41 lb/sq ft, and even the Mediterranean Tile, which replicates heavy clay or concrete tile, weighs only ~0.59 lb/sq ft—about 96% lighter than the real thing. Most Metzger homes can handle a metal roof retrofit over their existing structure without any reinforcement, which saves thousands in framing upgrades and makes the installation faster and cleaner.

Does the cost of a metal roof pay back before it needs replacing?

Yes—it's the last roof you'll buy. While upfront cost exceeds asphalt, metal roofs last 60+ years with zero replacement, whereas asphalt needs replacement every 15–20 years. Over a 60-year ownership window, you'll replace asphalt three times and pay tear-off, landfill, and labor costs each cycle. Interlock's lifetime limited warranty to the original owner, plus a 50-year transferable warranty to the next owner, protects your investment through decades of Metzger's rain (1208 mm/yr), snow (29 cm/yr), and wind gusts (120 km/h). That's one invoice instead of four.

What does Interlock's warranty actually cover, and for how long?

The Guardian Warranty is a lifetime limited, non-prorated material warranty for you as the original owner, covering rusting, rotting, splitting, cracking, curling, and loss of impact resistance—the real failure modes of roofing. It transfers once to the next owner for 50 years from installation completion, which adds measurable resale value. Because aluminum cannot rust (its oxide layer self-heals when scratched), the warranty reflects the metal's true nature: it outlasts the building envelope it protects, making this coverage more meaningful than time-limited terms on materials that degrade predictably.

Why doesn't aluminum rust like steel roofing does?

Aluminum cannot rust because it contains no iron—iron oxidation is what we call rust. Instead, aluminum forms a thin, invisible oxide layer that actually protects the underlying metal and self-heals when scratched or damaged. Interlock panels use roofing-grade 3105-H24 / 3003-H24 aluminum alloy (ASTM B209) with a Alunar 70% PVDF fluorocarbon coating applied to both sides, warranted 30 years against chalking and fading. This dual protection means your Metzger roof resists corrosion from coastal salt air, highway de-icing spray, and the Pacific Northwest's aggressive moisture environment.

Can metal roofing actually look like slate, wood shake, or tile?

Yes—Interlock offers five profiles that replicate high-end materials: Slate, Cedar Shingle, Shake, Mediterranean Tile, and Standing Seam. Each profile is four-way interlocking aluminum, so you get the authentic dimensional appearance and shadow lines of slate or shake, plus the durability advantages aluminum provides. The Slate and Shake profiles handle Metzger's ~37 annual freeze-thaw cycles without the cracking and spalling that real stone and wood experience. You choose the architectural style you love while gaining material properties suited to Pacific Northwest weather.

Do cool-roof coatings really lower summer cooling costs?

Yes. Interlock's energy-efficient colors achieve thermal emissivity of 0.84 and solar reflectance up to 0.55 (Aged Copper Penny), meaning they reflect heat that asphalt absorbs and re-radiates into your home. Metzger receives about 3033 sunshine hours per year, and even during cooler months when you heat rather than cool, a reflective metal roof reduces radiant heat load and moderates interior temperature swings. The Cool Roof Rating Council certification verifies this performance independently, so you're not relying on marketing claims—measured reflectance translates to measurable energy savings.

How often will I need to maintain a metal roof in Metzger?

Almost never. Unlike asphalt roofs (which require regular inspection and spot repairs), wood shake (which splits and curls, especially through 37 annual freeze-thaw cycles), or tile (which cracks and stains), aluminum metal roofing is virtually maintenance-free. No sealing, no re-coating, no debris removal from surface degradation. Gutters need cleaning as with any roof, but the panel itself remains inert and stable through Metzger's 1208 mm of rain, 29 cm of snow, and temperature swings. The CALGreen verification confirms reduced maintenance requirements, so you save time and cost across the roof's entire lifespan.

Can metal roofing install over my existing shingles without tearing off?

Yes. Because aluminum is extraordinarily light—the Tile profile at ~0.59 lb/sq ft is 96% lighter than concrete or clay tile—installation over most existing roofs requires no structural reinforcement. Your installer assesses deck condition, installs underlayment and flashing to ESR-1790 code, and fastens the interlocking panels directly over your current roof. This approach cuts labor time, eliminates landfill waste from tear-off, and reduces dust and debris. Interlock Metal Roofing (PNW) Inc., serving this region since 1997, handles these retrofit installations routinely and can advise whether your specific roof is a candidate during a site assessment.
