Interlock® Aluminum Roofing — all-climates performance specs for Cedar Mill, Oregon
| Spec / Rating | Climate / Risk Factor + What It Solves |
|---|---|
| Wind resistance: 120+ mph (193+ kph) | Extreme wind, hurricanes, storm uplift: full interlocking attachment helps prevent blow-offs, edge lifting, and panel loss in high-gust events. |
| Fire rating: Class A (with proper assembly) | Wildfire, embers, radiant heat, chimney sparks: non-combustible roof assembly provides the highest residential fire protection rating. |
| Hail resistance: UL 2218 Class 4 | Hail and impact debris: highest impact classification; resists cracking, splitting, and surface loss common with asphalt under hail strikes. |
| Snow & ice performance: interlocking, shedding profile | Heavy snow, freeze-thaw, ice dams: smooth aluminum sheds snow efficiently and the interlocking design helps block water intrusion when melt-refreeze cycles occur. (Final snow-load capacity depends on roof structure and local code.) |
| Corrosion resistance: aluminum (won’t rust) | Salt air, coastal humidity, wet climates: aluminum naturally resists rust and corrosion, reducing long-term failure risk in marine or high-moisture environments. |
| Heat / UV durability: baked-on coating system | High heat, intense sun, thermal cycling: coatings resist UV breakdown and temperature-swing fatigue, slowing fading and surface degradation. |
| Moss / algae resistance: smooth coated surface | Wet shade, organic growth: low-porosity metal surface gives moss/algae less to grip, reducing staining and maintenance. |
| Material: heavy-gauge aluminum roof profiles (Slate / Shake / Shingle / Tile / Standing Seam) | All-season structural stability: lightweight, dent-resistant metal system stays stable through large hot-cold swings and severe weather. |
| Expected lifespan: 50+ years | Long-term durability across climates: avoids re-roof cycles typical of shorter-life materials, even in high-stress environments. |
| Warranty: Lifetime-Limited, non-prorated + 50-year transferable | Lifetime protection + resale value: guarantees long-term material confidence and transfers to future owners. |

What our customers are saying:
Fast response and excellent work. The technician drop by within couple of days, found the cause, and provided quote. The price was reasonable for the work scope. They were able to secure the work slot as soon as the raining season was over and kept me informed on the schedule. In addition, they inspected remaining roof as well. Note: the leak was due to gutter pulling the corner flashing. The 10+ year Interlock roof tile remained good.
Prompt, ongoing communication from bid to follow up after completion. Install crew was professional and polite. We had an involved tear-off and they spread tarps overnight in case of dew. Finished job looks great.
Interlock handled our roofing project with skill and expertise. Many other local roofers ran away from even bidding the job due to the complexity of our roof line. The result is exquisite and I'm hopeful any further service needed over the years will go just as smoothly as the install did. Positive, Quality, Value, Services: Roof installation
We love our roof! It looks great, and so far we have no problems. Definitely would recommend to others. The cost could be prohibitive, but in the end it's worth it to us. Communications. Clean up. Finishing touches such as trimming some overhang, screwing down some loose edges. Thank you. We are very happy with our roof and Interlock experience.
The crew did not have all the materials and had to make a trip to get the rest of the materials. Displeased with them not telling us they were going to cut a hole in our roof and left the attic full of sawdust.
They installed an amazing IB membrane that makes the house look great. They suggested this product for my price range and expectations for a lifetime roof!
Just the communication for the install. A week later we have had some pretty hard rains. No leaks! and the roof looks great.
I'm sure your work is excellent and from viewing images of homes and prior work Interlock has done, I dont doubt the quality. But affordability and costs are absurd.
Do not leave debris. Job site was not cleaned by Victor each day as promised by Michael during sale Only on day 2 were tarps put down. Nothing on other days. Still find nails and roofing pieces. Mentioned to everyone how important this is to me. Communication broke completely down after Peter left. Stark difference to day 1 and 2 which was fantastic. I love the new roof. Looks great and roof rafters no longer cry out. If I had to do it again, I would.
I would love to have your product on my roof, but I can't justify the expense. Thanks for your time and Glenn's time. Your product could sell itself.
They told me that they would give me 2 signs and they didn't give them to me.

Metal Roofing FAQs for Homeowners in Cedar Mill
The following metal roofing FAQs are designed specifically for homeowners in Cedar Mill, Oregon. Whether you are building a new home or replacing an existing roof, understanding how roofing materials perform in local weather conditions is essential. From wind and storm protection to fire resistance, hail impact, snow loads, and coastal moisture exposure, Interlock’s Lifetime Aluminum Roofing System is engineered to provide long-term durability, energy efficiency, and peace of mind in Cedar Mill.
With Cedar Mill averaging over 1200 mm of rain yearly, how does metal roofing handle heavy rainfall without leaking?
The four-way interlocking aluminum panels shed water by design — each panel locks to its neighbors on all sides, creating a unified skin that channels rain outward and downward with no exposed fasteners to fail. Cedar Mill's substantial annual rainfall (about 1208 mm) is precisely why the interlocking system works: standing water has nowhere to pool, and the overlapped seams naturally direct flow toward gutters. When installed to spec over a solid deck with underlayment — the standard in our region — the result is watertight performance equivalent to asphalt shingles, but without the degradation that comes from absorbing moisture year after year.
Why can't aluminum roofing rust, and does that matter in Oregon's wet climate?
Aluminum cannot rust because it contains no iron — rusting is an iron-specific chemical process. Instead, aluminum develops a thin oxide layer when exposed to air, and this layer actually self-heals when scratched, offering ongoing protection without maintenance. In Cedar Mill's damp environment with about 37 freeze-thaw cycles per year, this matters enormously: steel roofing corrodes from the inside out during freeze-thaw stress, but aluminum's non-ferrous nature means no rust initiation, no pitting, and no structural compromise. Homeowners here get permanent corrosion immunity, not a temporary coating that erodes over decades.
Does a metal roof hold up in Cedar Mill's winter wind gusts?
Yes — the four-way interlocking aluminum panels are engineered to resist wind speeds up to 120 mph when installed to specification, and Cedar Mill's typical winter gusts reach about 120 km/h (75 mph), well within design margins. The interlocking geometry means each panel is mechanically secured to four adjacent panels, not relying on fasteners alone; this distributed anchorage handles the occasional severe gust without panel flutter or fastener creep. The warranty explicitly covers wind resistance up to 120 mph, giving you documented proof of durability for insurance and resale purposes.
Could hail damage a metal roof in this region, and might homeowners get insurance breaks?
Your Interlock Metal Roofing carries a UL 2218 Class 4 impact rating — the highest available in the roofing industry — and the warranty even covers perforation from hailstones up to 1.5 inches. Class 4 impact rating often qualifies homeowners for insurance discounts, especially when you pair it with the lifetime limited material warranty. Check with your insurer; many carriers recognize the durability and reduced-claim profile of rated metal roofing and may lower your premium. This documented impact resistance turns hail risk from a source of anxiety into a covered advantage.
How much lighter is metal roofing compared to traditional tile or slate, and can my house support it?
Interlock aluminum tile installs at approximately 0.59 lb/sq ft — about 96% lighter than concrete or clay tile — so no structural reinforcement is needed in most homes. Cedar Mill receives about 29 cm of snow per year; a traditional tile roof would weigh roughly 10–15 lb/sq ft, whereas the metal equivalent weighs less than 1 lb/sq ft. Most existing roof framing handles this with ease, and since metal roofing can install directly over your old asphalt roof, you avoid the cost and disruption of structural upgrades. This lightweight advantage is one reason metal roofing retrofits are so practical in the Pacific Northwest.
What warranty comes with Interlock Metal Roofing, and how long will it really last?
Interlock's Guardian Warranty is a lifetime limited, non-prorated material warranty for the original owner — it covers rusting, rotting, splitting, cracking, curling, and loss of impact resistance with no deductible or proration. The warranty is transferable once, giving the next owner 50 years from completion, which boosts resale appeal significantly. With roofing-grade aluminum (3105-H24 and 3003-H24 per ASTM B209) and a 30-year Alunar fluorocarbon coating warranty (ASTM D4214), this is genuinely the last roof you'll buy. Cedar Mill's 37 annual freeze-thaw cycles stress roofing severely, yet aluminum's non-absorptive nature means no water infiltration, no rot initiation, and no winter degradation — the warranty reflects real-world durability.
Do energy-efficiency metal roofing colors help cool my home and reduce utility bills?
Yes — energy-efficient Interlock colors have thermal emissivity up to 0.84 and solar reflectance up to 0.55 (measured in Aged Copper Penny), meaning they reflect heat that asphalt absorbs and re-radiates into your attic. Cedar Mill receives about 3033 sunshine hours annually; during the roughly 6 months of warmer weather, a reflective metal roof reduces cooling load and attic temperature significantly. The Cool Roof Rating Council rates these products for measurable energy savings. Paired with proper ventilation, a reflective metal roof keeps summer cooling costs lower without sacrificing winter heat retention — the aluminum's conductivity actually helps equalize attic temperature year-round.
Is metal roofing fire-safe, and what rating does Interlock carry?
Aluminum is non-combustible, and Interlock Metal Roofing achieves Class A fire classification (the highest available). This matters for homeowner insurance, HOA compliance, and peace of mind in any region. The ICC-ES evaluation report ESR-1790 (reissued 2025) documents the fire safety of the system under IBC and IRC standards. Class A fire-rated roofing can lower insurance premiums and makes your home more attractive to buyers who prioritize safety. In Cedar Mill's mixed residential areas, non-combustible roofing is an asset both for your own protection and for community fire resilience.
How much maintenance does a metal roof need compared to asphalt shingles or wood shake?
Metal roofing requires virtually no maintenance — no algae treatment, no moss scraping, no re-sealing of fasteners, no replaced shingles after weather. Asphalt shingles need regular inspection and spot repairs starting around year 10; wood shake requires annual cleaning and periodic treatment to resist rot and insect damage. Interlock aluminum never rots, never splits, never curls, and doesn't absorb the moisture that Cedar Mill's 1208 mm annual rainfall delivers. A simple gutter inspection once or twice yearly and occasional debris removal (leaves, needles) is all you need. The CALGreen-verified reduced-maintenance profile saves both time and money over a 50+ year lifespan.
Is metal roofing more expensive than asphalt, and does it pay back over time?
Metal roofing costs more upfront than asphalt — typically 2–3 times the material price — but it outlasts asphalt by 40+ years and requires virtually no maintenance or replacement. An asphalt roof in Cedar Mill, with its 1208 mm annual rainfall and 37 freeze-thaw days, typically lasts 15–20 years before leaking; you'll replace it 2–3 times in the lifespan of one metal roof. When you add asphalt tear-off labor, landfill disposal fees, and maintenance across decades, metal roofing becomes the lower total-cost option. Current regional promotion: no payments and no interest until Spring 2027, or 10% off installation. The Guardian Warranty's transferable 50-year term also means your next owner inherits documented durability, adding resale value.
Is a metal roof a good choice for Cedar Mill’s climate?
Yes. Cedar Mill averages about 29 cm of snow, 1208 mm of rain, roughly 37 freeze–thaw days a year, with peak wind gusts near 120 km/h. Interlock® aluminum roofing is wind-rated to 193+ km/h (120 mph), UL 2218 Class 4 impact-rated and Class A fire-rated, and its four-way interlocking panels shed snow and resist ice dams and freeze–thaw cracking — all backed by a lifetime limited, transferable warranty.
