Review: July 27, 2007Completion: July 25, 2007

Thanks for a very positive roofing experience! Our new roof is so beautiful we’re thinking of charging a fee to all the gawking neighbors that stop by to admire it!!! This was fun, positive experience from start to finish. Our sales rep spent three hours at our home going over every possible detail with us. He was knowledgeable, friendly and answered all our questions. As you can see by the pictures we have a pretty basic roof. There was no tear off to do; still, our three installers were 80% done on the very first day! Everything was done and cleaned up to our satisfaction by the end of day two. Our installers were friendly, courteous and hard working. I watched them for a few minutes as they all worked like a finely tuned machine installing our roof in perfect rhythm. For us, Interlock meant that the third time was the charm. We’d tried to do business with two other companies. The first took a large amount of money as a down payment and gave absolutely no customer service for two months. We got our money back and started over. The second company gave an inaccurate bid. Needless to say, we entered into this contract with some trepidation. interlock is a fabulous company and we’d recommend them to anyone in the market for a new roof!

Review: July 22, 2007Completion: March 13, 1999

We are writing this letter to show our appreciation for the wonderful job that was done on our roof. From the date your company representative met with us in our home to the date of completion, words cannot express how completely satisfied we are with your company. We definitely wanted a quality roof and were very impressed by the representation that was given to us. The product you provide was enough for us to make our decision, however it was a huge plus not to have to deal with a pushy salesman and to have such polite, friendly and hard working men providing the service. It was a pleasure to have them around our home. The quality, craftsmanship and lifetime warranty of this roof far outweighs the increased costs over other roof systems. However, other roof systems don't come with lifetime warranties and many only last for 8 to 10 years. We may have paid a little more initially, but how wonderful it is to know we will never have to re-roof our home again. And in addition to all of the above, it looks so beautiful and has added so much style to our home. I never dreamed a roof could make such a difference. Again, Thank you so much and be sure to know we will highly recommend your company to all of our family and friends.

Review: January 13, 2026Completion: June 18, 2025

I am very pleased with the entire experience with Interlock Roofing. Ross did a fantastic job of showing me all of the options available, and explaining how Interlock is different from other roofing. This was not a hard sales pitch. I was pleasantly surprised by how affordable a metal roof was. I had five other estimates for a traditional composite roof, and the price difference for a forever roof was negligible considering all the benefits. Next, the installation. These guys were amazing! Only two guys doing the demo and reroof, but very hard workers and did a fantastic job. It seems rare these days to find skilled tradesmen that take pride in their work, and these guys exceeded my expectations. I also took advantage of Interlock’s financing. Drew was very helpful and accommodating. The whole process was taken care of through Interlock, making it super convenient and great communication throughout. I will highly recommend:)

Review: August 1, 2006Completion: July 18, 2006

We just wanted to let you know how thoroughly-pleased we are with our new Interlock Roof. It is absolutely beautiful and we have had a lot of people stopping as they walk or drive by to admire how nice it looks. Everything progressed on the job exactly as you had shared with us when we signed the contract. There were no surprises. From the beginning when we got the call to set up a start date, to the final clean up and retrieval of the waste bin everything was handled so professionally. Viktor and Alex were a dream to work with-so-pleasant and each day everything was left so tidy that it would have been hard for guests to tell that we were in the middle of a re-roofing job. We will highly recommend your product and doing business with such a professional and obviously well run company.

I have already recommended them. Those guys were amazing. Peter, Victor, and the other installation guys were just unbelievable. It is a great company, and they did a great job with my roof. I get compliments all the time. It was a wonderful experience. They did a wonderful job on the house. It looks fantastic.

Review: October 4, 2022Completion: October 4, 2022

Interlock Roofing is amazing. From the first day I met their salesman to the day they started work on our barn and house. They were very easy to talk to and express our concern about how important it was to keep our hay safe from rain and the ground around the barn safe for the animals. They were fast exceptionally clean and so much fun to get to know. I definitely would recommend this company to anyone who wants to have a roof that will last a life time. Thank you for an amazing job and two beautiful roofs!

My wife and I want to express our complete satisfaction with the "Aged Copper" roof your firm installed on our "Barn-house" and gazebo. The two roofs have a high quality appearance and they enhance the looks of the property. We are looking forward to many years of satisfaction. We are now planning to re-paint the house with a color to better blend with the roof. The work performed by your installers was outstanding. They were friendly and very professional. They worked efficiently and energetically, and it was obvious they had the skills to do the job. Thank you for being such an excellent firm.

My husband and I would like to thank you for coming to our residence and explaining your product and all of its advantages. We were very impressed at this time and excited to start the beautification process of our home, which has been in my husband’s family for 5 generations now. It has undergone many remodels, upgrades, and changes throughout the years with a lot of help from friends and family. We will be celebrating its 100th birthday this year. The new roof is definitely a wonderful way to do so! The whole Interlock family was friendly and extremely easy to work with from the beginning of this process to the end. The job was started on time and finished when promised. We are very pleased with how smoothly the project went and very thankful that we were not the ones on top of the house!

Metal Roofing FAQs for Homeowners in Cataldo

The following metal roofing FAQs are designed specifically for homeowners in Cataldo, Washington. Whether you are building a new home or replacing an existing roof, understanding how roofing materials perform in local weather conditions is essential. From wind and storm protection to fire resistance, hail impact, snow loads, and coastal moisture exposure, Interlock’s Lifetime Aluminum Roofing System is engineered to provide long-term durability, energy efficiency, and peace of mind in Cataldo.

How does a metal roof handle Cataldo's heavy snow and freeze-thaw cycles?

Metal roofs shed snow and ice far more effectively than asphalt because aluminum's smooth, hard surface doesn't grip frozen moisture the way granules do. Cataldo receives about 240 cm of snow annually and experiences roughly 101 freeze-thaw days per year—conditions where ice dams commonly form on traditional roofs. Interlock's four-way interlocking panels create a continuous, slippery plane that encourages snow to slide cleanly; the lightweight design (Shake profile at 0.58 lb/sq ft) means your structure absorbs no strain from accumulated snow weight. Snow guards are available if desired for safety. The aluminum itself won't degrade from repeated freezing; unlike asphalt that becomes brittle and cracks, aluminum retains flexibility.

Why doesn't an aluminum roof rust in a wet climate like ours?

Aluminum cannot rust because it contains no iron—rust requires iron oxide. Instead, aluminum forms a paper-thin, invisible oxide layer the moment it's exposed to air, and this layer self-heals when scratched, providing permanent protection. Cataldo's average of 568 mm annual rainfall and coastal-influenced moisture make corrosion a real concern with steel roofing, but aluminum thrives in these conditions. The Alunar® 70% PVDF fluorocarbon finish (applied to both sides of every panel) adds a 30-year warranty against chalking and fading under wet, cloudy skies. Interlock has installed roofs on salt-air homes and Antarctic research stations—environments far harsher than our region—and the material performs identically after decades.

Will my metal roof crack or split after 101 freeze-thaw days each year?

No. Aluminum expands and contracts with temperature change, but it does so predictably and without losing integrity—the Guardian Warranty explicitly covers cracking and splitting for the life of your roof. Cataldo's 101 annual freeze-thaw cycles are precisely the conditions aluminum was engineered to endure. Unlike asphalt shingles, which become brittle and fail under repeated freezing, or cedar shake, which splits and warps, aluminum's crystalline structure remains stable through thousands of thermal cycles. The three-thousand-plus sunshine hours Cataldo receives each year also work in aluminum's favor: UV exposure strengthens rather than weakens the material when paired with a quality fluorocarbon coating like Alunar®.

Can my metal roof withstand Cataldo's winter wind gusts?

Yes. Interlock metal roofing is warranted to resist wind speeds up to 120 mph (193 km/h) when installed to specification. Cataldo's typical maximum gusts reach 114 km/h (71 mph), leaving a comfortable safety margin. The four-way interlocking panel system locks each sheet to its neighbors on all sides, creating a unified structure that distributes wind load across the entire roof rather than relying on fasteners alone. This mechanical interlock, combined with proper fastening to the deck, means gusts won't lift or separate panels. Installation by Interlock Metal Roofing (PNW) Inc., serving our region since 1997, ensures your system is anchored to code and rated for the wind events this area experiences.

Do I need to reinforce my home's framing for a metal roof?

Almost never. Interlock's Mediterranean Tile profile installs at roughly 0.59 lb/sq ft—about 96% lighter than concrete or clay tile—and can be installed directly over most existing roofs without any structural upgrades. For context, slate or tile roofing can weigh 600–1200 pounds per square, while Interlock Tile weighs just 59 pounds per square. This featherweight design is a major advantage in a region that averages 240 cm of snow annually: your home's structure carries far less combined load during heavy snow events, reducing stress on walls and foundations. Interlock installs over existing asphalt, cedar shake, or metal roofs, saving demolition costs and simplifying the installation timeline. A structural engineer may advise reinforcement in rare cases, but it's seldom necessary.

What's the real lifespan and warranty of an Interlock metal roof?

The Guardian Warranty provides a lifetime limited, non-prorated material warranty for the original owner, covering rusting, rotting, splitting, cracking, curling, and loss of impact resistance. That warranty transfers once, giving the next owner 50 years of protection from completion—an advantage if you ever sell. In practice, Interlock has been manufactured since 1998 in Delta, BC, and installed on homes across North America; roofs installed in the 1990s remain sound, often with no maintenance beyond occasional gutter cleaning. Cataldo's 568 mm annual rainfall and 240 cm snow won't shorten the roof's life if installed properly. The Alunar® coating carries its own 30-year warranty against fading and chalking, ensuring both appearance and protective function endure.

Does Interlock metal roofing handle hail, and will it help my insurance?

Interlock metal roofing achieves UL 2218 Class 4 impact rating—the highest available—and the warranty even covers perforation from hailstones up to 1.5 inches. Class 4 testing involves steel ball strikes at 45 mph with minimal deflection, simulating severe hail. Many insurers recognize this rating and offer premium discounts on homes with impact-resistant roofing, potentially recouping a portion of your installation cost. While Cataldo doesn't experience hail as frequently as interior mountain regions, the protection is real and measurable. Aluminum's resilience means dents typically don't compromise the roof's waterproofing or structural integrity; the interlocking seams keep water out regardless of minor surface damage.

Can I get a metal roof that looks like slate, shake, or tile instead of industrial corrugated?

Yes—that's Interlock's specialty. We offer five distinct profiles: Slate, Cedar Shingle, Shake, Standing Seam, and Mediterranean Tile. Each replicates traditional materials with authentic shadow lines, texture, and dimension, giving your home the architectural character of high-end materials without the weight, maintenance, or durability concerns. The Slate profile mimics hand-split stone; the Cedar Shingle and Shake profiles echo wood roofing but won't split or rot through Cataldo's 101 annual freeze-thaw days. The Mediterranean Tile profile captures curved barrel tile in a form that's 96% lighter than clay, and the Standing Seam suits modern or traditional designs alike. All profiles feature the same four-way interlock, aluminum construction, and warranty—your choice is purely aesthetic.

How much maintenance does a metal roof really need in our wet climate?

Virtually none. Unlike asphalt shingles, which require inspection and repair every few years, or cedar shake, which needs annual treatment and is vulnerable to moss and rot in Cataldo's 568 mm annual rainfall, aluminum requires only occasional gutter cleaning and debris removal—the same tasks homeowners do anyway. The Alunar® 70% PVDF finish resists mildew and moss growth far better than wood or asphalt, and the smooth surface doesn't trap moisture. You'll never need to seal, stain, or re-coat the roof itself. The CALGreen verification confirms reduced maintenance burden compared to conventional roofing. Over a 50-year lifespan, this means no emergency repair calls, no seasonal treatments, and no structural decay—just a roof that works quietly in the background.

Is a metal roof worth the upfront cost compared to asphalt shingles?

Over the life of your home, yes. Asphalt roofing lasts 15–25 years in Cataldo's climate and requires replacement multiple times; each tear-off, disposal, and reinstall adds thousands in labor and landfill costs. A metal roof is installed once and transfers to the next owner with 50 years of warranty remaining—you're buying your last roof. Initial cost is higher, but depreciated annually across decades of zero maintenance, zero repairs, and near-certain insurance discounts on impact-resistant roofing, the real cost of ownership favors metal. We're currently offering no payments and no interest until Spring 2027 or 10% off installation, making the economics even stronger. The aluminum's recyclability (~95%) also adds resale value for environmentally conscious buyers.

Is a metal roof a good choice for Cataldo’s climate?

Yes. Cataldo averages about 240 cm of snow, 568 mm of rain, roughly 101 freeze–thaw days a year, with peak wind gusts near 114 km/h. Interlock® aluminum roofing is wind-rated to 193+ km/h (120 mph), UL 2218 Class 4 impact-rated and Class A fire-rated, and its four-way interlocking panels shed snow and resist ice dams and freeze–thaw cracking — all backed by a lifetime limited, transferable warranty.
