| Spec / Rating | Climate / Risk Factor + What It Solves |
|---|---|
| Wind resistance: 120+ mph (193+ kph) | Extreme wind, hurricanes, storm uplift: full interlocking attachment helps prevent blow-offs, edge lifting, and panel loss in high-gust events. |
| Fire rating: Class A (with proper assembly) | Wildfire, embers, radiant heat, chimney sparks: non-combustible roof assembly provides the highest residential fire protection rating. |
| Hail resistance: UL 2218 Class 4 | Hail and impact debris: highest impact classification; resists cracking, splitting, and surface loss common with asphalt under hail strikes. |
| Snow & ice performance: interlocking, shedding profile | Heavy snow, freeze-thaw, ice dams: smooth aluminum sheds snow efficiently and the interlocking design helps block water intrusion when melt-refreeze cycles occur. (Final snow-load capacity depends on roof structure and local code.) |

What our customers are saying:
Thanks for a very positive roofing experience! Our new roof is so beautiful we’re thinking of charging a fee to all the gawking neighbors that stop by to admire it!!! This was fun, positive experience from start to finish. Our sales rep spent three hours at our home going over every possible detail with us. He was knowledgeable, friendly and answered all our questions. As you can see by the pictures we have a pretty basic roof. There was no tear off to do; still, our three installers were 80% done on the very first day! Everything was done and cleaned up to our satisfaction by the end of day two. Our installers were friendly, courteous and hard working. I watched them for a few minutes as they all worked like a finely tuned machine installing our roof in perfect rhythm. For us, Interlock meant that the third time was the charm. We’d tried to do business with two other companies. The first took a large amount of money as a down payment and gave absolutely no customer service for two months. We got our money back and started over. The second company gave an inaccurate bid. Needless to say, we entered into this contract with some trepidation. interlock is a fabulous company and we’d recommend them to anyone in the market for a new roof!
We are writing this letter to show our appreciation for the wonderful job that was done on our roof. From the date your company representative met with us in our home to the date of completion, words cannot express how completely satisfied we are with your company. We definitely wanted a quality roof and were very impressed by the representation that was given to us. The product you provide was enough for us to make our decision, however it was a huge plus not to have to deal with a pushy salesman and to have such polite, friendly and hard working men providing the service. It was a pleasure to have them around our home. The quality, craftsmanship and lifetime warranty of this roof far outweighs the increased costs over other roof systems. However, other roof systems don't come with lifetime warranties and many only last for 8 to 10 years. We may have paid a little more initially, but how wonderful it is to know we will never have to re-roof our home again. And in addition to all of the above, it looks so beautiful and has added so much style to our home. I never dreamed a roof could make such a difference. Again, Thank you so much and be sure to know we will highly recommend your company to all of our family and friends.
I am very pleased with the entire experience with Interlock Roofing. Ross did a fantastic job of showing me all of the options available, and explaining how Interlock is different from other roofing. This was not a hard sales pitch. I was pleasantly surprised by how affordable a metal roof was. I had five other estimates for a traditional composite roof, and the price difference for a forever roof was negligible considering all the benefits. Next, the installation. These guys were amazing! Only two guys doing the demo and reroof, but very hard workers and did a fantastic job. It seems rare these days to find skilled tradesmen that take pride in their work, and these guys exceeded my expectations. I also took advantage of Interlock’s financing. Drew was very helpful and accommodating. The whole process was taken care of through Interlock, making it super convenient and great communication throughout. I will highly recommend:)
We just wanted to let you know how thoroughly-pleased we are with our new Interlock Roof. It is absolutely beautiful and we have had a lot of people stopping as they walk or drive by to admire how nice it looks. Everything progressed on the job exactly as you had shared with us when we signed the contract. There were no surprises. From the beginning when we got the call to set up a start date, to the final clean up and retrieval of the waste bin everything was handled so professionally. Viktor and Alex were a dream to work with-so-pleasant and each day everything was left so tidy that it would have been hard for guests to tell that we were in the middle of a re-roofing job. We will highly recommend your product and doing business with such a professional and obviously well run company.
I have already recommended them. Those guys were amazing. Peter, Victor, and the other installation guys were just unbelievable. It is a great company, and they did a great job with my roof. I get compliments all the time. It was a wonderful experience. They did a wonderful job on the house. It looks fantastic.
Interlock Roofing is amazing. From the first day I met their salesman to the day they started work on our barn and house. They were very easy to talk to and express our concern about how important it was to keep our hay safe from rain and the ground around the barn safe for the animals. They were fast exceptionally clean and so much fun to get to know. I definitely would recommend this company to anyone who wants to have a roof that will last a life time. Thank you for an amazing job and two beautiful roofs!
My wife and I want to express our complete satisfaction with the "Aged Copper" roof your firm installed on our "Barn-house" and gazebo. The two roofs have a high quality appearance and they enhance the looks of the property. We are looking forward to many years of satisfaction. We are now planning to re-paint the house with a color to better blend with the roof. The work performed by your installers was outstanding. They were friendly and very professional. They worked efficiently and energetically, and it was obvious they had the skills to do the job. Thank you for being such an excellent firm.
My husband and I would like to thank you for coming to our residence and explaining your product and all of its advantages. We were very impressed at this time and excited to start the beautification process of our home, which has been in my husband’s family for 5 generations now. It has undergone many remodels, upgrades, and changes throughout the years with a lot of help from friends and family. We will be celebrating its 100th birthday this year. The new roof is definitely a wonderful way to do so! The whole Interlock family was friendly and extremely easy to work with from the beginning of this process to the end. The job was started on time and finished when promised. We are very pleased with how smoothly the project went and very thankful that we were not the ones on top of the house!
HELLO! I am Gerry from Olympia, Washington. A few years ago, I had my re-roofing done by INTERLOCK ROOFING SYSTEM for my house here in Olympia. I would like to thank the INTERLOCK ROOFING SYSTEM for the best, beautiful metal roof I ever had; the color choice never changed in spite of the weather condition here in Washington. So, if you want your home to deserving a thorough, keen, professional touch, quality, and professionalism, I would highly recommend INTERLOCK LIFETIME ROOFING SYSTEMS for your COMPLETE METAL ROOFING.
We both work for Nordstrom and have come to expect a certain level of customer service. Both Paul and Ross were exceptional in this regard. They were knowledgeable friendly and very thorough! I would highly recommend interlock for anyone looking into metal roof options.
The roof is absolutely beautiful and compliments our home. The work was fast and professional. Communication about scheduling. Clean up of job site. We absolutely love the roof.
We were extremely pleased with Interlock Roofing as our selection to install an aluminum roof on our house and two outbuildings. The installation team were extremely hard workers and were always courteous and conscientious and left our project very clean. We would highly recommend all of them to anyone interested in a new roof including Paul Wright and the administration staff. Ron and Joanne Quiring nothing

Metal Roofing FAQs for Homeowners in Russell
The following metal roofing FAQs are designed specifically for homeowners in Russell, Washington. Whether you are building a new home or replacing an existing roof, understanding how roofing materials perform in local weather conditions is essential. From wind and storm protection to fire resistance, hail impact, snow loads, and coastal moisture exposure, Interlock’s Lifetime Aluminum Roofing System is engineered to provide long-term durability, energy efficiency, and peace of mind in Russell.
Will a metal roof hold up through Russell's freeze-thaw cycles?
Yes, aluminum expands and contracts safely through freeze-thaw cycling because it has no grain structure like wood and cannot crack or split. Russell experiences about 60 freeze-thaw days per year alongside roughly 41 cm of annual snow, conditions that would degrade asphalt and cause wood shakes to cup and check. Interlock's roofing-grade 3105-H24 aluminum alloy (ASTM B209) was proven in the field from coastal homes to Antarctica. The material's uniform expansion coefficient and inherent flexibility mean your roof adapts to temperature swings without material fatigue. That's why the Guardian Warranty specifically covers splitting and cracking—they simply don't occur in aluminum.
Can an aluminum metal roof rust in the Pacific Northwest?
Aluminum cannot rust because it contains no iron; instead, it forms a self-healing oxide layer that seals itself when scratched. In Russell's moist climate with 389 mm of annual rainfall and occasional gusts to 91 km/h, this matters more than in dry regions. Steel roofs oxidize and require painting; aluminum does not. To reinforce protection in salt-air and wet environments, Interlock applies Alunar 70% PVDF fluorocarbon coating to both sides of every panel and warrants it 30 years against fading and chalking (ASTM D4214 / D2244 measured). The two-sided coating is unusual—it's there because aluminum's durability in harsh climates depends not on the metal alone but on this proven finish.
How does a metal roof handle snow load and ice dams in Russell?
Metal roofs shed snow faster than asphalt because their smooth, interlocking surface reduces friction; ice dams form where heat escapes through poor insulation, not because of roof material. Russell receives about 41 cm of snow annually, and proper attic ventilation and insulation—not the roofing material—prevent dams. Interlock's four-way interlocking aluminum panels lock together so tightly that snow cannot penetrate seams, and the lightweight profile (Shingle at 0.41 lb/sq ft) means you're not loading your structure with ceramic or concrete tile weight—about 96% lighter, so existing framing needs no reinforcement. Snow guards can be added if you prefer controlled release. The warranty covers wind up to 120 mph, well beyond Russell's typical 16 km/h mean winds with gusts to 91 km/h.
Do I need to reinforce my roof structure to install a metal roof?
No structural reinforcement is needed because aluminum weighs almost nothing compared to slate or tile. Russell homes built for traditional asphalt (15 to 20 lb/sq ft) can install Interlock's Tile profile at 0.59 lb/sq ft—about 96% lighter than concrete or clay tile. The Shake profile weighs 0.58 lb/sq ft and Shingle just 0.41 lb/sq ft. This matters in a region with 41 cm annual snowfall and occasional wind gusts to 91 km/h, because your framing doesn't bear extra static weight, leaving structural capacity for seasonal snow and wind loads without modification. Aluminum is roofing-grade 3105-H24 / 3003-H24 alloy (ASTM B209), engineered for span and durability. Most homes install metal over existing roofs without touching the structure.
Does a metal roof qualify for hail damage insurance discounts?
Interlock metal roofing achieves UL 2218 Class 4 impact rating, the highest available, and the warranty even covers perforation from hailstones up to 1.5 inches. While Russell's climate data shows typical gusts to 91 km/h rather than extreme hail frequency, the Class 4 rating provides absolute protection and may qualify you for homeowners insurance discounts. Class 4 means the roof withstood 2-inch steel balls dropped from 20 feet without cracking or losing impact resistance. Aluminum's flexibility absorbs impact energy without brittle failure, unlike asphalt (which cracks) or slate (which shatters). Contact your insurer about discounts; some offer 10–20% reductions for Class 4-rated roofs. Ask Interlock Metal Roofing (PNW) Inc. about your specific coverage.
Will a metal roof reduce cooling costs at my Russell home?
energy-efficient colors with thermal emissivity 0.84 and solar reflectance up to 0.55 reflect heat that asphalt absorbs, reducing air-conditioning load in summer. Russell receives about 3399 sunshine hours annually; even in the Pacific Northwest, reflected heat compounds over the cooling season. Cool Roof Rating Council testing validates this performance. Lighter colors (like Aged Copper Penny at 0.55 reflectance) bounce solar radiation rather than converting it to attic heat. In winter, this same reflectance doesn't harm heating because Russell's mean temperature is 12.5°C and snow cover provides additional insulation. The net benefit is lower summer cooling demand without winter heating penalty. published solar-reflectance listing means verified performance, not marketing.
Is metal roofing non-combustible and Class A fire-rated?
Yes, aluminum is non-combustible and Class A fire rating is available. Roofing-grade aluminum cannot ignite because it contains no fuel; it will not propagate fire, ember, or flame even in extreme conditions. Class A is the highest fire-safety rating for roofing materials under ASTM E108. Interlock's ICC-ES evaluation report ESR-1790 (reissued 2025 for IBC/IRC code compliance) documents this. In Russell's wet climate with 389 mm annual rainfall, fire risk is lower than in dry regions, but Class A availability means you meet the strictest building codes and may lower homeowners insurance premiums in fire-rated communities. Asphalt shingles are Class C at best; wood shakes are unrated and burn readily. Aluminum's inherent non-combustibility is a permanent safety advantage.
How much maintenance does a metal roof really need?
Interlock metal roofing needs virtually no maintenance compared to asphalt, wood, or tile. Asphalt shingles require periodic inspection and replacement within 15–20 years in Russell's freeze-thaw and wet climate; wood shakes split and curl and must be individually replaced; slate and tile crack and require specialist repair. Aluminum with Alunar 70% PVDF coating (warranted 30 years against fading and chalking) survives Russell's 60 annual freeze-thaw cycles and 41 cm snowfall without degradation. The Guardian Warranty is lifetime limited (non-prorated for the original owner), covering rusting, rotting, splitting, cracking, and curling—simply because none of these occur. Rinse debris after storms if desired; that's it. CALGreen verification confirms reduced maintenance liability.
What warranty comes with an Interlock metal roof, and how long will it last?
The Guardian Warranty is lifetime limited and non-prorated for the original owner, covering rusting, rotting, splitting, cracking, curling, and loss of impact resistance. The warranty is one-time transferable, giving the next owner 50 years of coverage from completion, adding resale value. This breadth exists because aluminum cannot rust (no iron), cannot rot (no organic matrix), and its Alunar 70% PVDF coating is warranted 30 years against fading and chalking (ASTM D4214 / D2244). In Russell's 389 mm annual rainfall and 60 freeze-thaw days, these protections align with climate stressors. You're buying the last roof: aluminum installed to spec in 1998 is still performing in coastal salt-air homes and Antarctica. Asphalt requires replacement every 15–20 years in wet climates; metal roofs routinely outlast the homes they cover.
How long does installation take, and can a metal roof install over my existing roof?
Installation typically completes in 3–7 days depending on roof size and complexity; Interlock Metal Roofing (PNW) Inc. has served the region since 1997 and can confirm your timeline. Yes, most homes install metal directly over existing asphalt shingles without tear-off, saving labor and landfill waste. Metal's extreme light weight—Tile at 0.59 lb/sq ft, about 96% lighter than concrete or clay tile—means no structural reinforcement and no added load to framing. Proper underlayment and ventilation ensure attic moisture control in Russell's wet climate (389 mm annual rainfall, 41 cm snow). Your installer applies ice-and-water shield, synthetic underlayment, and ventilation as code requires under the interlocking panels. Tear-off and disposal become optional, reducing cost and environmental impact. Interlock's ICC-ES report ESR-1790 documents retrofit installation compliance.
Is a metal roof a good choice for Russell’s climate?
Yes. Russell averages about 41 cm of snow, 389 mm of rain, roughly 60 freeze–thaw days a year, with peak wind gusts near 91 km/h. Interlock® aluminum roofing is wind-rated to 193+ km/h (120 mph), UL 2218 Class 4 impact-rated and Class A fire-rated, and its four-way interlocking panels shed snow and resist ice dams and freeze–thaw cracking — all backed by a lifetime limited, transferable warranty.
