What our customers are saying:
We had our roofed replaced by Interlock Roofing in 2016. One of the best decisions we’ve ever made! Our roof looks like slate shingles but is entirely metal. We e received many compliments on it over the years Recently we had a lot of strong wind and hailstorms and our representative, John Mondeshean, checked in with us to see if we sustained any roof damage. He came out and inspected our roof for us within a day or two. Luckily we didn’t have any damage. I’ve been impressed by this company and their product from day one. John is the consummate professional. Our roof is now 10 years old and I still say it was the best investment! Highly recommend!
Very heavy investment, but worth every cent! I worked with John and he was very mindful in planning everything out- especially the finer details of what was needed for the house and for the project. His crew was spectacular in their workmanship and friendliness. The only minor issue I had was the scheduling of the project- which is of nobody's fault. Things get done when they get done and those who are waiting, will be happy they waited. Not exaggerating, many customers will be quite pleased with the end result. I'm one of them. Many thanks, John, crew & Interlock!
Not only was the sales process easy, the installation guys were very respectful of my neighbors and my comfort while they were working. Now that it’s done I absolutely love the roof. It’s already made a huge difference in my electric use for cooling the house!
We are so proud of our new roof. It is so cool looking, it adds a great deal to the curb-appeal of our house. I also appreciate the security of knowing I'll never have to replace it or worry about it in even the strongest winds. I used to lose shingles in strong windstorms. Interlock was easy to work with. The workers were very respectful of my property and were meticulous about clean up after.
This project has been a roller coaster: First they were doing a good job, then not, then they assured us of the results and things looked good until we questioned something and they completely dropped the ball. They took our money and never followed up. Communication by Allen Gessell seems to be the weak link. He was horrible and ghosted us. It is a HUGE SHAME that what could have been a wonderful situation has become a fearful nightmare!
I'm really excited and pleased with the roof. I love everything about it in terms of color, style, and installation. Everything was done to our utmost satisfaction. Interlock Roofing could have improved the price. The price was expensive. It was a fantastic experience.
Scheduling
I think Interlock Roofing could have improved on the timing and having more flexibility in terms of when the project starts.
Communication on delivery and actual start time
The entire team (from sales to installation) was very clear regarding the timeline and next steps for the entire project. The end product looks great and is a vast improvement compared to the appearance of our prior roof. Good clear communication. No issues on my end.

Metal Roofing FAQs for Homeowners in Wrigleyville
The following metal roofing FAQs are designed specifically for homeowners in Wrigleyville, Illinois. Whether you are building a new home or replacing an existing roof, understanding how roofing materials perform in local weather conditions is essential. From wind and storm protection to fire resistance, hail impact, snow loads, and coastal moisture exposure, Interlock’s Lifetime Aluminum Roofing System is engineered to provide long-term durability, energy efficiency, and peace of mind in Wrigleyville.
Will a metal roof hold up through Wrigleyville's freeze-thaw cycles?
Yes—aluminum's material properties actually improve in freeze-thaw conditions. Cook County experiences about 69 freeze-thaw days per year, a cycle that cracks asphalt and splits wood shingles. Aluminum expands and contracts uniformly without brittleness; the roofing-grade 3105-H24 / 3003-H24 alloy (ASTM B209) is designed for exactly this stress. The self-healing oxide layer resists corrosion even when thermal movement causes micro-scratches. Over 25+ years, homeowners here see asphalt failing at year 15–18, while Interlock panels weather the same cycles intact.
How does a metal roof handle Wrigleyville's snow and ice buildup?
The smooth, interlocking surface sheds snow and ice far more effectively than asphalt. Wrigleyville receives roughly 73 cm of snow annually, and metal's low friction allows heavy loads to slide safely with optional snow guards. The four-way interlocking design prevents water infiltration if ice dams form—a common problem in Cook County winters. The panels' light weight (Shingle profile at 0.41 lb/sq ft) means no structural reinforcement is needed, even as snow accumulates, keeping installation cost and complexity low compared to slate or concrete tile options.
Can a metal roof withstand Wrigleyville's wind gusts?
Absolutely. The four-way interlocking panels are warranted to resist wind speeds up to 120 mph (193 km/h). Cook County's typical gusts reach about 95 km/h, less than half that threshold. The inter-panel sealing and mechanical fastening distribute wind load across the entire roof system rather than stressing individual shingles. Insurance companies recognize this durability; many offer discounts for Class 4-rated metal roofs. This design outperforms asphalt shingles, which fail and lift at much lower wind speeds, particularly in spring storms common to the Midwest.
Why doesn't aluminum rust like steel roofing does?
Aluminum contains no iron—the element responsible for rust. When exposed to air, aluminum forms a thin, transparent oxide layer that actually protects the metal beneath. Critically, if this layer is scratched, it self-heals within hours. The Alunar 70% PVDF fluorocarbon finish (applied to both sides, warranted 30 years against chalking and fading per ASTM D4214 / D2244) adds a second protective barrier. In Wrigleyville's 1024 mm annual rainfall and freeze-thaw environment, this dual protection means zero corrosion risk over the roof's 50-year lifespan—a guarantee steel roofing cannot match.
Will my home's frame need reinforcement for a metal roof?
No structural reinforcement is required. The Mediterranean Tile profile, which replicates the look of clay or concrete tile, weighs just 0.59 lb/sq ft—approximately 96% lighter than the real thing. Even the heavier Shake profile tops out at 0.58 lb/sq ft. By contrast, traditional tile adds 15–20 lb/sq ft, forcing costly framing upgrades. Interlock's light weight also means installation can proceed over most existing roofs without tear-off, saving labor and landfill volume. This is especially valuable in Cook County homes where retrofitting older structures to support heavy materials would be prohibitively expensive.
What's the hail rating, and will my insurance recognize it?
Interlock panels carry the highest available hail rating: UL 2218 Class 4 impact resistance. The warranty covers perforation even from hailstones up to 1.5 inches—an extreme event. While Wrigleyville's climate data doesn't flag frequent severe hail, the Class 4 rating qualifies the roof for insurance premium reductions in many states. Underwriters reward non-combustible, impact-resistant materials because they reduce claims frequency. Some insurers offer 15–25% discounts on metal roofs with this designation, potentially recovering installation costs within 10 years. Contact your agent with the UL 2218 Class 4 specification and ICC-ES ESR-1790 documentation.
Does a metal roof actually save energy in Wrigleyville's climate?
energy-efficient colors with emissivity 0.84 and solar reflectance up to 0.55 (Aged Copper Penny) actively cool your home during warm months. Wrigleyville averages 3094 sunshine hours per year—enough for a reflective roof to reduce cooling costs noticeably. Unlike asphalt shingles, which absorb heat and drive interior temperatures up, metal reflects infrared radiation. The Cool Roof Rating Council certification means independent verification of these thermal properties. During the 73 cm snow season, the same reflective surface minimizes the greenhouse effect that accelerates ice melt and dam formation. Over 25 years, cooling savings often exceed the material premium.
How much maintenance does a metal roof require compared to asphalt or tile?
Metal requires virtually no maintenance. Asphalt shingles in Cook County's 69 annual freeze-thaw days and 1024 mm rain develop moss, granule loss, and cracking by year 12–15, requiring periodic cleaning and repairs. Concrete tile cracks and needs resealing every 5–10 years. Interlock aluminum sheds debris, resists algae growth, and never needs chemical treatment or re-coating. The CALGreen-verified design specifically targets reduced maintenance. Annual gutter cleaning is your only task. This translates to 25+ years of zero repair costs—a significant advantage when calculating true roof cost over time, especially important in Wrigleyville where moisture levels demand durable, low-touch solutions.
Can you install a metal roof over my existing shingles?
Yes, in most cases. The extraordinary light weight of Interlock panels (0.41–0.59 lb/sq ft) allows installation directly over existing asphalt roofs, providing immediate cost and waste savings. Your contractor inspects the existing deck for rot or structural damage; if sound, metal installs over it without tear-off. Installation typically completes in 1–3 days for a standard home. You avoid the labor, dumpster, and landfill fees of stripping old shingles—a meaningful savings in Cook County where disposal costs are high. The process also minimizes home disruption. For roofs with significant damage or previous patching, tear-off is recommended; your local Interlock installer since 2001 performs a free pre-installation survey to determine the right approach for your home.
Is metal roofing worth the upfront cost versus asphalt in the long run?
Yes. Asphalt averages $8–12/sq ft installed with a 15–20 year lifespan; you'll replace it twice in 40 years, paying $16–24/sq ft total plus tear-off labor. Interlock installed is higher upfront but includes a lifetime limited, non-prorated material warranty for the original owner—covering rusting, cracking, curling, and impact resistance—plus one-time transfer to the next owner (50 years from completion). Most homeowners recoup the material premium within the first roof's lifespan through eliminated replacements, zero maintenance, and energy savings. In Wrigleyville's harsh freeze-thaw and moisture environment, asphalt fails earlier, compressing payback further. This is truly the last roof you'll buy.
Is a metal roof a good choice for Wrigleyville’s climate?
Yes. Wrigleyville averages about 73 cm of snow, 1024 mm of rain, roughly 69 freeze–thaw days a year, with peak wind gusts near 95 km/h. Interlock® aluminum roofing is wind-rated to 193+ km/h (120 mph), UL 2218 Class 4 impact-rated and Class A fire-rated, and its four-way interlocking panels shed snow and resist ice dams and freeze–thaw cracking — all backed by a lifetime limited, transferable warranty.
