Review: April 12, 2026Completion: May 30, 2016

We had our roofed replaced by Interlock Roofing in 2016. One of the best decisions we’ve ever made! Our roof looks like slate shingles but is entirely metal. We e received many compliments on it over the years Recently we had a lot of strong wind and hailstorms and our representative, John Mondeshean, checked in with us to see if we sustained any roof damage. He came out and inspected our roof for us within a day or two. Luckily we didn’t have any damage. I’ve been impressed by this company and their product from day one. John is the consummate professional. Our roof is now 10 years old and I still say it was the best investment! Highly recommend!

Review: April 3, 2025Completion: July 31, 2024

Very heavy investment, but worth every cent! I worked with John and he was very mindful in planning everything out- especially the finer details of what was needed for the house and for the project. His crew was spectacular in their workmanship and friendliness. The only minor issue I had was the scheduling of the project- which is of nobody's fault. Things get done when they get done and those who are waiting, will be happy they waited. Not exaggerating, many customers will be quite pleased with the end result. I'm one of them. Many thanks, John, crew & Interlock!

Not only was the sales process easy, the installation guys were very respectful of my neighbors and my comfort while they were working. Now that it’s done I absolutely love the roof. It’s already made a huge difference in my electric use for cooling the house!

Review: May 8, 2024Completion: April 29, 2024

We are so proud of our new roof. It is so cool looking, it adds a great deal to the curb-appeal of our house. I also appreciate the security of knowing I'll never have to replace it or worry about it in even the strongest winds. I used to lose shingles in strong windstorms. Interlock was easy to work with. The workers were very respectful of my property and were meticulous about clean up after.

Review: November 30, 2023Completion: October 31, 2023

This project has been a roller coaster: First they were doing a good job, then not, then they assured us of the results and things looked good until we questioned something and they completely dropped the ball. They took our money and never followed up. Communication by Allen Gessell seems to be the weak link. He was horrible and ghosted us. It is a HUGE SHAME that what could have been a wonderful situation has become a fearful nightmare!

I'm really excited and pleased with the roof. I love everything about it in terms of color, style, and installation. Everything was done to our utmost satisfaction. Interlock Roofing could have improved the price. The price was expensive. It was a fantastic experience.

The entire team (from sales to installation) was very clear regarding the timeline and next steps for the entire project. The end product looks great and is a vast improvement compared to the appearance of our prior roof. Good clear communication. No issues on my end.

Metal Roofing FAQs for Homeowners in Argyle

The following metal roofing FAQs are designed specifically for homeowners in Argyle, Illinois. Whether you are building a new home or replacing an existing roof, understanding how roofing materials perform in local weather conditions is essential. From wind and storm protection to fire resistance, hail impact, snow loads, and coastal moisture exposure, Interlock’s Lifetime Aluminum Roofing System is engineered to provide long-term durability, energy efficiency, and peace of mind in Argyle.

Does a metal roof handle Argyle's snow and ice better than asphalt?

Yes—aluminum's smooth surface sheds snow and ice more effectively than asphalt, reducing ice dam formation. Argyle averages about 81 cm of snow annually with roughly 85 freeze-thaw cycles per year, meaning your roof experiences repeated thaw-and-refreeze stress. Asphalt absorbs heat unevenly, creating ice dams; Interlock's four-way interlocking panels stay structurally sound through those cycles because aluminum doesn't become brittle or crack in cold, and the oxide layer resists oxidation damage from salt and moisture. Optional snow guards keep snow from sliding dangerously. You're protecting against the actual local climate, not guessing.

Will freeze-thaw damage aluminum roofing over time?

Aluminum is inherently resistant to freeze-thaw damage because it contains no iron and cannot rust, so water infiltration won't corrode it or cause structural decay. Argyle endures about 85 freeze-thaw days yearly—that's continuous cycling that causes asphalt to crack and wood to split. Aluminum expands and contracts minimally (its coefficient is much lower than steel), and the Alunar 70% PVDF fluorocarbon coating, warranted 30 years against fading and chalking, protects against UV and salt-air oxidation during those cycles. After 25+ years, asphalt roofs typically need replacement; Interlock panels installed correctly are still performing their original function.

Can an aluminum metal roof rust in a rainy climate?

No. Aluminum cannot rust because it contains zero iron—rust is iron oxide, which requires iron to form. What aluminum does form is an oxide layer that actually protects the metal underneath and self-heals when scratched. Argyle receives about 863 mm of rain annually, creating plenty of moisture exposure. Steel roofing rusts under those conditions; aluminum does not. The Alunar coating on both sides of each panel adds an extra 30-year warranty against chalking and fading, which is why Interlock panels have been installed in coastal salt-air environments since 1998 without corrosion failure. That's the difference between a material that corrodes and one that simply ages.

Do I need to reinforce my roof structure for a metal roof?

No structural reinforcement is needed. Interlock's Slate profile installs at just 0.41 lb per square foot—the Tile profile at 0.59 lb/sq ft is about 96% lighter than concrete or clay tile. Argyle receives 81 cm of snow yearly, and that weight load is where lighter roofing matters: asphalt weighs 2–3 times more per square foot, straining trusses over decades. Interlock installs directly over most existing roof systems, saving tear-off labor and waste. The ICC-ES evaluation (ESR-1790) confirms the product meets IBC/IRC building code without additional structural work. You're replacing old weight with new durability, not adding to what your home already carries.

Will a metal roof reduce my homeowner's insurance in Argyle?

Many insurers offer discounts for impact-rated roofing. Interlock holds UL 2218 Class 4, the highest impact rating available—the warranty even covers perforation from hailstones up to 1.5 inches. Contact your agent with that rating; some carriers recognize the reduced risk and adjust premiums accordingly. Argyle's climate includes wind gusts up to 97 km/h, and Class 4 impact protection is valuable beyond hail—it handles wind-driven debris and falling branches that asphalt cannot. Documented impact resistance often translates to measurable insurance savings, though your specific discount depends on your carrier's underwriting. That's a real financial benefit on top of the roof itself lasting longer.

How does a metal roof hold up in Argyle's wind and storms?

Interlock's four-way interlocking panels are warranted to resist winds up to 120 mph (193 km/h) when installed per specification. Argyle's typical gusts reach 97 km/h, well within that rating. The interlocking system prevents panel lift-off and lateral movement—each panel is mechanically captured by its neighbors, not just fastened down. That design is why Interlock has been installed from coastal locations to Antarctica since 1998 without field reports of wind failure. Asphalt shingles, by contrast, are vulnerable to blow-off in gusts above 65 mph, and that failure accelerates over time as sealant degrades. You're buying a roof engineered for Argyle's actual wind environment, with warranty backing to prove it.

What does Interlock's lifetime warranty actually cover?

The Guardian is a lifetime limited, non-prorated material warranty for the original owner—meaning no deductibles or declining coverage over time. It covers rusting, rotting, splitting, cracking, curling, and loss of impact resistance. If a panel fails due to material defect, Interlock replaces it, period. The warranty is also one-time transferable: the next owner receives 50 years of coverage from completion date. That's unusual in roofing, where most warranties are prorated and expire in 20–30 years. Combined with Argyle's 85 annual freeze-thaw cycles and 81 cm of snow, you need a roof that doesn't degrade under stress—and backing it for a lifetime shows the manufacturer stands behind durability. It's the last roof you buy.

Does an aluminum metal roof actually lower cooling costs?

energy-efficient Interlock colors reflect heat rather than absorbing it, reducing cooling demand. Select profiles achieve initial solar reflectance up to 0.55 and thermal emissivity of 0.84, rated by the Cool Roof Rating Council. Argyle receives about 3,079 hours of sunshine annually—that's significant solar exposure. Asphalt absorbs that heat and radiates it into the attic; reflective aluminum bounces it away. On a 90-degree day, the difference in attic temperature can be 20+ degrees. You won't eliminate air-conditioning, but you'll run it less and see that in your utility bills. The coating is warranted 30 years, so reflectance doesn't degrade like paint does on asphalt.

How much maintenance does a metal roof need compared to asphalt or tile?

Virtually none—no more than gutters and downspouts. Aluminum doesn't crack, curl, or split like asphalt or wood shake; it doesn't degrade like roof coatings do. Argyle's 863 mm annual rainfall and freeze-thaw cycling force asphalt to be inspected and maintained every 3–5 years; by year 15–20, patches and repairs become routine. Interlock requires no sealing, re-coating, or individual panel replacement due to age. The ICC-ES evaluation confirms the product is CALGreen-verified for reduced maintenance. Tile roofing needs periodic mortar repair and algae treatment. Metal roofing simply performs its job—protecting your home while you attend to other things. That's where maintenance savings compound over decades.

Does Interlock Metal Roofing serve Argyle directly?

Yes. Interlock Metal Roofing has served the Boone County region since 2001, bringing over two decades of local installation experience. They understand Argyle's snow load, wind patterns, and seasonal freeze-thaw cycles, and they know how to install Interlock panels—Slate, Cedar Shingle, Shake, Mediterranean Tile, and Standing Seam profiles—to perform in these exact conditions. Local service means faster response, warranty support you can reach, and an installer who's accountable in your community. They can assess your existing roof, discuss profile options, and manage installation without shipping you to a regional crew that's new to local climate demands. That's a real advantage when you're making a 50-year decision.

Is a metal roof a good choice for Argyle’s climate?

Yes. Argyle averages about 81 cm of snow, 863 mm of rain, roughly 85 freeze–thaw days a year, with peak wind gusts near 97 km/h. Interlock® aluminum roofing is wind-rated to 193+ km/h (120 mph), UL 2218 Class 4 impact-rated and Class A fire-rated, and its four-way interlocking panels shed snow and resist ice dams and freeze–thaw cracking — all backed by a lifetime limited, transferable warranty.
