Review: April 12, 2026Completion: May 30, 2016

We had our roofed replaced by Interlock Roofing in 2016. One of the best decisions we’ve ever made! Our roof looks like slate shingles but is entirely metal. We e received many compliments on it over the years Recently we had a lot of strong wind and hailstorms and our representative, John Mondeshean, checked in with us to see if we sustained any roof damage. He came out and inspected our roof for us within a day or two. Luckily we didn’t have any damage. I’ve been impressed by this company and their product from day one. John is the consummate professional. Our roof is now 10 years old and I still say it was the best investment! Highly recommend!

Review: April 3, 2025Completion: July 31, 2024

Very heavy investment, but worth every cent! I worked with John and he was very mindful in planning everything out- especially the finer details of what was needed for the house and for the project. His crew was spectacular in their workmanship and friendliness. The only minor issue I had was the scheduling of the project- which is of nobody's fault. Things get done when they get done and those who are waiting, will be happy they waited. Not exaggerating, many customers will be quite pleased with the end result. I'm one of them. Many thanks, John, crew & Interlock!

Not only was the sales process easy, the installation guys were very respectful of my neighbors and my comfort while they were working. Now that it’s done I absolutely love the roof. It’s already made a huge difference in my electric use for cooling the house!

Review: May 8, 2024Completion: April 29, 2024

We are so proud of our new roof. It is so cool looking, it adds a great deal to the curb-appeal of our house. I also appreciate the security of knowing I'll never have to replace it or worry about it in even the strongest winds. I used to lose shingles in strong windstorms. Interlock was easy to work with. The workers were very respectful of my property and were meticulous about clean up after.

Review: November 30, 2023Completion: October 31, 2023

This project has been a roller coaster: First they were doing a good job, then not, then they assured us of the results and things looked good until we questioned something and they completely dropped the ball. They took our money and never followed up. Communication by Allen Gessell seems to be the weak link. He was horrible and ghosted us. It is a HUGE SHAME that what could have been a wonderful situation has become a fearful nightmare!

I'm really excited and pleased with the roof. I love everything about it in terms of color, style, and installation. Everything was done to our utmost satisfaction. Interlock Roofing could have improved the price. The price was expensive. It was a fantastic experience.

The entire team (from sales to installation) was very clear regarding the timeline and next steps for the entire project. The end product looks great and is a vast improvement compared to the appearance of our prior roof. Good clear communication. No issues on my end.

Metal Roofing FAQs for Homeowners in Beaverton Crossroads

The following metal roofing FAQs are designed specifically for homeowners in Beaverton Crossroads, Illinois. Whether you are building a new home or replacing an existing roof, understanding how roofing materials perform in local weather conditions is essential. From wind and storm protection to fire resistance, hail impact, snow loads, and coastal moisture exposure, Interlock’s Lifetime Aluminum Roofing System is engineered to provide long-term durability, energy efficiency, and peace of mind in Beaverton Crossroads.

How does metal roofing handle heavy snow in Beaverton Crossroads?

Interlock aluminum panels are engineered to shed snow safely without pooling or ice dam buildup, even with Boone County's ~81 cm annual snowfall and 85 freeze-thaw cycles per year. The four-way interlocking system locks panels together so snow load distributes evenly across the structure. Aluminum's light weight—the Slate profile installs at just 0.41 lb/sq ft—means no reinforcement is needed, and the smooth surface encourages natural slide-off during thaw cycles. Snow guards can be added where desired to control discharge.

Why does aluminum outperform other roofing materials through freeze-thaw cycles?

Aluminum is impervious to moisture damage during the 85 annual freeze-thaw days typical in this region. Unlike wood shake or tile, aluminum doesn't absorb water that cracks when it freezes. Its oxide layer—the natural protection that prevents rust—actually self-heals when scratched, so repeated expansion and contraction from temperature swings won't degrade it. The Alunar® 70% PVDF coating adds 30-year fade and chalk protection, keeping panels performing through decades of thermal cycling.

Can metal roofing withstand Beaverton Crossroads wind gusts?

Yes. Interlock's four-way interlocking system is warranted to resist wind speeds up to 120 mph, far exceeding the ~97 km/h gusts common here. The mechanical interlocks on all four edges prevent panel lift and flutter; each panel's edges grip its neighbors rather than relying on fasteners alone. This design, validated under ICC-ES ESR-1790, means your roof stays secure even during severe weather. The warranty covers wind damage when installed to specification.

Does metal roofing reduce hail damage and insurance costs?

Interlock aluminum panels carry a UL 2218 Class 4 impact rating—the highest available—and are warranted against perforation from hailstones up to 1.5 inches. The roofing-grade 3105-H24 aluminum alloy flexes on impact without fracturing like asphalt or wood. Many insurers recognize Class 4 impact resistance and offer premium discounts. Contact your agent with the UL 2218 certification to explore savings. The warranty ensures you're covered even if a severe hail event occurs.

Why don't Interlock aluminum roofs rust like steel alternatives?

Aluminum cannot rust because it contains no iron. It forms a thin, self-healing oxide layer that protects the metal underneath. When the surface is scratched—from installation, weather, or debris—the oxide layer reforms automatically, preventing corrosion from starting. The Alunar® 70% PVDF fluorocarbon finish, applied to both sides of every panel and warranted for 30 years, provides an additional barrier. This dual protection is especially valuable in the wet climate here: ~863 mm annual rainfall and significant snow melt mean constant moisture exposure. Steel roofs, by contrast, require ongoing maintenance to prevent rust staining and panel failure.

Can a metal roof lower cooling costs in summer?

energy-efficient Interlock colors reflect solar heat rather than absorb it, thanks to thermal emissivity of 0.84 and initial solar reflectance up to 0.55 on Aged Copper Penny. Even with Beaverton Crossroads' ~3079 annual sunshine hours, a reflective metal roof stays cooler than dark asphalt, reducing air conditioning demand. The lightweight aluminum (~0.41–0.59 lb/sq ft) also allows better air circulation under the roof deck. Cool Roof Rating Council verification confirms measurable energy performance. Over a 50-year lifespan, the cooling savings compound significantly.

What maintenance does an Interlock metal roof require?

Virtually none beyond occasional gutter cleaning. Unlike asphalt, which degrades from UV and weather, or wood shake, which splits and rots, aluminum is inert and non-porous. The Alunar® 70% PVDF coating resists chalking and fading for 30 years, so color stays true even with ~3079 annual sunshine hours. CALGreen verification confirms reduced maintenance burden. Annual inspections for debris and trimmed branches are prudent, but no sealants, re-nailing, or protective treatments are needed. This stands in sharp contrast to asphalt, which requires repairs every 5–10 years.

What warranty comes with Interlock metal roofing?

The Guardian Warranty is a lifetime limited, non-prorated material warranty for the original owner—covering rusting, rotting, splitting, cracking, curling, and loss of impact resistance. For the second owner, it transfers once for 50 years from installation completion. This means your entire roof is protected without diminishing coverage over time, unlike typical prorated warranties. Combined with aluminum's proven durability since 1998 manufacturing and installations from coastal salt air to Antarctic research stations, the warranty backs what the material actually delivers: decades of leak-free performance with no degradation.

Is metal roofing more environmentally responsible than asphalt?

Yes. Interlock aluminum panels are approximately 95% recyclable, ending the asphalt tear-off-to-landfill cycle. When a traditional asphalt roof reaches end of life, it's torn off and dumped; that cycle repeats every 15–20 years. An aluminum roof, lasting 50+ years, avoids multiple tear-offs over a century. At end of life, aluminum scrap is melted and reused indefinitely without quality loss. Boone County's ~863 mm annual rainfall and freeze-thaw stress mean durability directly translates to environmental benefit: fewer roofs replaced, less waste generated, lower lifecycle carbon impact.

How long does Interlock installation take, and do you remove the old roof?

Installation typically takes 2–5 days depending on roof size and complexity. A major advantage: Interlock panels install directly over your existing roof in most cases. The lightweight aluminum—about 96% lighter than concrete or clay tile—needs no structural reinforcement, so replacement roofs can go over the old deck without tearing off. This saves labor, disposal costs, and weather exposure. Interlock's local installer, serving the region since 2001, assesses your roof structure and advises whether tear-off is necessary. Typical projects in Beaverton Crossroads avoid the mess and expense of full removal.

Is a metal roof a good choice for Beaverton Crossroads’s climate?

Yes. Beaverton Crossroads averages about 81 cm of snow, 863 mm of rain, roughly 85 freeze–thaw days a year, with peak wind gusts near 97 km/h. Interlock® aluminum roofing is wind-rated to 193+ km/h (120 mph), UL 2218 Class 4 impact-rated and Class A fire-rated, and its four-way interlocking panels shed snow and resist ice dams and freeze–thaw cracking — all backed by a lifetime limited, transferable warranty.
