Review: April 12, 2026Completion: May 30, 2016

We had our roofed replaced by Interlock Roofing in 2016. One of the best decisions we’ve ever made! Our roof looks like slate shingles but is entirely metal. We e received many compliments on it over the years Recently we had a lot of strong wind and hailstorms and our representative, John Mondeshean, checked in with us to see if we sustained any roof damage. He came out and inspected our roof for us within a day or two. Luckily we didn’t have any damage. I’ve been impressed by this company and their product from day one. John is the consummate professional. Our roof is now 10 years old and I still say it was the best investment! Highly recommend!

Review: April 3, 2025Completion: July 31, 2024

Very heavy investment, but worth every cent! I worked with John and he was very mindful in planning everything out- especially the finer details of what was needed for the house and for the project. His crew was spectacular in their workmanship and friendliness. The only minor issue I had was the scheduling of the project- which is of nobody's fault. Things get done when they get done and those who are waiting, will be happy they waited. Not exaggerating, many customers will be quite pleased with the end result. I'm one of them. Many thanks, John, crew & Interlock!

Not only was the sales process easy, the installation guys were very respectful of my neighbors and my comfort while they were working. Now that it’s done I absolutely love the roof. It’s already made a huge difference in my electric use for cooling the house!

Review: May 8, 2024Completion: April 29, 2024

We are so proud of our new roof. It is so cool looking, it adds a great deal to the curb-appeal of our house. I also appreciate the security of knowing I'll never have to replace it or worry about it in even the strongest winds. I used to lose shingles in strong windstorms. Interlock was easy to work with. The workers were very respectful of my property and were meticulous about clean up after.

Review: November 30, 2023Completion: October 31, 2023

This project has been a roller coaster: First they were doing a good job, then not, then they assured us of the results and things looked good until we questioned something and they completely dropped the ball. They took our money and never followed up. Communication by Allen Gessell seems to be the weak link. He was horrible and ghosted us. It is a HUGE SHAME that what could have been a wonderful situation has become a fearful nightmare!

I'm really excited and pleased with the roof. I love everything about it in terms of color, style, and installation. Everything was done to our utmost satisfaction. Interlock Roofing could have improved the price. The price was expensive. It was a fantastic experience.

The entire team (from sales to installation) was very clear regarding the timeline and next steps for the entire project. The end product looks great and is a vast improvement compared to the appearance of our prior roof. Good clear communication. No issues on my end.

Metal Roofing FAQs for Homeowners in Spring Township

The following metal roofing FAQs are designed specifically for homeowners in Spring Township, Illinois. Whether you are building a new home or replacing an existing roof, understanding how roofing materials perform in local weather conditions is essential. From wind and storm protection to fire resistance, hail impact, snow loads, and coastal moisture exposure, Interlock’s Lifetime Aluminum Roofing System is engineered to provide long-term durability, energy efficiency, and peace of mind in Spring Township.

How does a metal roof handle Spring Township's snow and ice buildup?

Interlock's aluminum panels shed snow effectively because the smooth, hard surface won't trap moisture the way asphalt shingles do—critical in a climate that averages about 71 cm of snow annually and experiences roughly 81 freeze-thaw cycles every year. The interlocking seams prevent water infiltration during the thaw phase, and because the roof installs over solid decking with underlayment, it stays quiet and performs like asphalt. You can add snow guards if desired. The material itself remains stable through repeated freezing and thawing that degrades asphalt bonds.

Why don't aluminum metal roofs rust like steel ones?

Aluminum cannot rust because it contains no iron. Instead, it forms a naturally protective oxide layer that actually self-heals when scratched—meaning exposure to Boone County's 853 mm annual rainfall won't compromise the material. Interlock uses roofing-grade 3105-H24 and 3003-H24 aluminum alloy coated with Alunar 70% PVDF fluorocarbon on both sides, warranted 30 years against fading. That dual-sided coating is especially valuable near sources of salt or industrial corrosion; the underlying metal is inherently stable for the life of your home.

Is a metal roof worth the upfront cost compared to asphalt shingles?

Aluminum roofing costs more initially but is the last roof you'll buy. Asphalt typically lasts 15–20 years in freeze-thaw climates; you'll replace it multiple times over a 50-year span. Interlock's Guardian warranty is lifetime limited and non-prorated for the original owner, with one transfer of 50 years to the next owner—eliminating future tear-off labor and landfill costs. When you factor in a single installation versus three or four asphalt replacements in Spring Township's harsh cycling conditions, plus avoided maintenance and energy savings from energy-efficiency reflectance, the total cost of ownership strongly favors metal.

Will my home's structure need reinforcement for a metal roof?

No. Interlock's aluminum is extraordinarily light—the Mediterranean Tile profile installs at just 0.59 lb/sq ft, about 96% lighter than concrete or clay tile. This means you can often install over your existing roof without structural upgrades, saving thousands in framing work. The Slate profile is even lighter at 0.41 lb/sq ft. In a climate that dumps 71 cm of snow yearly, the low weight is an advantage: it distributes snow load efficiently and reduces strain on rafters and foundations, while asphalt or traditional tile would require costly reinforcement.

How will a metal roof hold up to Boone County's wind and gusts?

Interlock's four-way interlocking aluminum panels are warranted to resist wind speeds up to 120 mph when installed to specification. Spring Township experiences typical daily-max winds around 22 km/h with gusts reaching 98 km/h—well within that envelope. The interlocking edges create mechanical bonds that prevent panel lift during storms, and the system meets ICC-ES evaluation report ESR-1790 for wind performance under the IBC/IRC codes. That warranty backing means you'll have protection and proof of performance if severe weather damage occurs.

Interlock aluminum roofing is rated UL 2218 Class 4 impact resistance—the highest available—and the Guardian warranty covers perforation from hailstones up to 1.5 inches. Most insurers recognize this rating and may offer discounts on metal roofs. Boone County does experience hail, and asphalt shingles often require replacement after moderate hail; aluminum won't dent or lose granules. Document the UL 2218 Class 4 rating in your homeowner's file and contact your insurer—many will reduce your premium or eliminate the hail deductible, offsetting part of the installation cost over time.

Does hail damage a metal roof, and will my insurance cover it?

Can a metal roof look like slate, cedar shake, or tile?

Yes. Interlock offers five profiles—Slate, Cedar Shingle, Shake, Standing Seam, and Mediterranean Tile—each replicating the visual depth and texture of traditional materials without their liabilities. The Cedar Shingle and Shake profiles capture hand-split wood character; the Tile profile mimics clay or concrete with dimensional shadowing; Slate and Standing Seam suit modern and classic designs alike. All profiles are roofing-grade aluminum with the same 30-year coating warranty and lifetime limited protection, so you're choosing aesthetics without sacrificing durability or adding the weight and maintenance of the real thing.

How much maintenance does a metal roof really need?

Interlock aluminum requires minimal upkeep—no granule loss, no wood rot, no tile replacement. Twice yearly, rinse debris from valleys and gutters; that's it. Asphalt shingles need roof cleaning, algae treatment, and repairs within 15–20 years. Wood shake requires regular staining or sealing to fight UV and moisture. Concrete tile cracks and traps moss. In Spring Township's 853 mm rain and 71 cm snow annually, traditional materials degrade fast; aluminum's oxide layer and PVDF coating resist weather passively. The CALGreen verification confirms Interlock's low-maintenance profile, meaning your time and money stay in your pocket.

Is aluminum roofing better for the environment than asphalt?

Yes. Interlock aluminum is approximately 95% recyclable at end of life, and recycled aluminum requires only 5% of the energy needed to produce new aluminum. Asphalt shingles, by contrast, are torn off and sent to landfills by the millions of tons annually—a cycle that repeats every 15–20 years in climates like Spring Township's with its 81 annual freeze-thaw days. Choosing metal breaks that cycle. Over 50 years, one aluminum roof replaces three asphalt roofs, saving landfill space and embodied energy. If environmental responsibility influences your decision, metal's lifecycle advantage is substantial and quantifiable.
