Review: April 12, 2026Completion: May 30, 2016

We had our roofed replaced by Interlock Roofing in 2016. One of the best decisions we’ve ever made! Our roof looks like slate shingles but is entirely metal. We e received many compliments on it over the years Recently we had a lot of strong wind and hailstorms and our representative, John Mondeshean, checked in with us to see if we sustained any roof damage. He came out and inspected our roof for us within a day or two. Luckily we didn’t have any damage. I’ve been impressed by this company and their product from day one. John is the consummate professional. Our roof is now 10 years old and I still say it was the best investment! Highly recommend!

Review: April 3, 2025Completion: July 31, 2024

Very heavy investment, but worth every cent! I worked with John and he was very mindful in planning everything out- especially the finer details of what was needed for the house and for the project. His crew was spectacular in their workmanship and friendliness. The only minor issue I had was the scheduling of the project- which is of nobody's fault. Things get done when they get done and those who are waiting, will be happy they waited. Not exaggerating, many customers will be quite pleased with the end result. I'm one of them. Many thanks, John, crew & Interlock!

Not only was the sales process easy, the installation guys were very respectful of my neighbors and my comfort while they were working. Now that it’s done I absolutely love the roof. It’s already made a huge difference in my electric use for cooling the house!

Review: May 8, 2024Completion: April 29, 2024

We are so proud of our new roof. It is so cool looking, it adds a great deal to the curb-appeal of our house. I also appreciate the security of knowing I'll never have to replace it or worry about it in even the strongest winds. I used to lose shingles in strong windstorms. Interlock was easy to work with. The workers were very respectful of my property and were meticulous about clean up after.

Review: November 30, 2023Completion: October 31, 2023

This project has been a roller coaster: First they were doing a good job, then not, then they assured us of the results and things looked good until we questioned something and they completely dropped the ball. They took our money and never followed up. Communication by Allen Gessell seems to be the weak link. He was horrible and ghosted us. It is a HUGE SHAME that what could have been a wonderful situation has become a fearful nightmare!

I'm really excited and pleased with the roof. I love everything about it in terms of color, style, and installation. Everything was done to our utmost satisfaction. Interlock Roofing could have improved the price. The price was expensive. It was a fantastic experience.

The entire team (from sales to installation) was very clear regarding the timeline and next steps for the entire project. The end product looks great and is a vast improvement compared to the appearance of our prior roof. Good clear communication. No issues on my end.

Metal Roofing FAQs for Homeowners in Boone Township

The following metal roofing FAQs are designed specifically for homeowners in Boone Township, Illinois. Whether you are building a new home or replacing an existing roof, understanding how roofing materials perform in local weather conditions is essential. From wind and storm protection to fire resistance, hail impact, snow loads, and coastal moisture exposure, Interlock’s Lifetime Aluminum Roofing System is engineered to provide long-term durability, energy efficiency, and peace of mind in Boone Township.

How does a metal roof handle Boone Township's heavy snow and freeze-thaw cycles?

Aluminum's smooth, hard surface sheds snow and ice far more effectively than asphalt, reducing ice dam risk during the region's approximately 83 freeze-thaw days per year. The four-way interlocking panels are warranted to resist wind gusts up to 120 mph, so snow and ice loads stay secure. Unlike asphalt, which becomes brittle in cold snaps and expands when warmed by the about 3,084 sunshine hours annually, aluminum's thermal cycling tolerance means it won't crack or cup as temperatures swing.

Will freeze-thaw damage an aluminum roof in Illinois winters?

No. Aluminum has no iron content — it cannot rust or rot, even after decades of Boone County's roughly 84 freeze-thaw cycles yearly. The oxide layer on the surface actually self-heals when scratched, so freeze-thaw stress that splinters wood or cracks ceramic tile simply doesn't affect aluminum. The Alunar 70% PVDF coating is warranted 30 years against chalk and fade (ASTM D4214), meaning the finish stays intact through endless freeze-thaw swings.

Can an aluminum metal roof rust in Illinois?

Aluminum cannot rust because it contains no iron. When exposed to Boone Township's about 838 mm annual rainfall, aluminum naturally forms a self-healing oxide layer that protects the underlying metal — a process that repeats infinitely. Steel roofs, by contrast, rust within years in wet climates. Interlock's 3105-H24 and 3003-H24 aluminum alloy (ASTM B209) is the same material used in coastal salt-air homes and Antarctic research stations, designed to withstand far harsher moisture exposure than central Illinois receives.

Is a metal roof safe in Boone Township's wind gusts?

Yes. The four-way interlocking panels lock together so tightly that they're warranted to resist sustained winds up to 120 mph. Boone County's typical gusts around 100 km/h (62 mph) are well within safe limits, and the interlocking design distributes lateral force across the entire roof rather than stressing individual fasteners. This design has proven reliable in regions with severe wind events far stronger than what the area typically experiences.

Does a metal roof reduce hail damage risk and insurance costs?

Interlock metal roofing carries a UL 2218 Class 4 impact rating — the highest available — and the warranty even covers perforation from hailstones up to 1.5 inches. Many insurers recognize this highest rating and offer premium discounts on metal roofs because the material genuinely resists damage that destroys asphalt. Ask your agent about discounts; the upfront savings, combined with the roof's 50-year transferable warranty, make the long-term economics compelling.

Does a metal roof need structural reinforcement?

No. The Interlock Slate installs at just 0.41 lb/sq ft, and even the heavier Mediterranean Tile profile weighs only about 0.59 lb/sq ft — roughly 96% lighter than concrete or clay tile. Most Boone Township homes can support metal roofing without any frame upgrades. The lightweight design also allows installation directly over an existing asphalt roof, avoiding costly tear-off labor and landfill fees.

Is a metal roof worth the upfront cost compared to asphalt?

Metal roofing costs more initially but is the last roof you'll buy. Asphalt typically lasts 15–20 years and requires replacement twice in a metal roof's lifetime. Interlock's Guardian Warranty is lifetime limited non-prorated for the original owner and transferable for 50 years to the next owner, so resale appeal and future savings are built in. Over 50+ years, aluminum eliminates repeated tear-off, disposal, and reinstallation costs that drain asphalt budgets.

How much maintenance does an aluminum metal roof need?

Very little. Unlike asphalt, which requires periodic sealing, wood shakes that split and rot, or tile that cracks, aluminum doesn't degrade. Boone Township's about 838 mm annual rainfall naturally cleans the surface. The Alunar coating is CALGreen-verified for reduced maintenance. You'll never replace missing shingles, reseal seams, or scrape moss — just occasional gutter cleaning, the same task any roof requires.

Who installs Interlock metal roofing in Boone Township?

Interlock Metal Roofing has served this region since 2001. Our team knows Boone County's climate, building codes, and local permitting requirements. We're the manufacturer's local installer — not a contractor buying from a distributor — so you work directly with the company that stands behind the product. We handle site assessment, permitting, installation over your existing roof, and warranty service from start to finish.

Does a metal roof really save money on cooling costs?

Yes, energy-efficient colors reduce cooling load. Interlock's reflective finishes achieve thermal emissivity up to 0.84 and solar reflectance up to 0.55, meaning they bounce heat away rather than absorbing it like asphalt. In a region with about 3,084 annual sunshine hours, this reflectance compounds over time — less heat absorbed means lower air-conditioning demand on warm days. The Cool Roof Rating Council certification quantifies this advantage, and the energy savings accrue over the roof's lifetime.

Is a metal roof a good choice for Boone Township’s climate?

Yes. Boone Township averages about 84 cm of snow, 838 mm of rain, roughly 83 freeze–thaw days a year, with peak wind gusts near 100 km/h. Interlock® aluminum roofing is wind-rated to 193+ km/h (120 mph), UL 2218 Class 4 impact-rated and Class A fire-rated, and its four-way interlocking panels shed snow and resist ice dams and freeze–thaw cracking — all backed by a lifetime limited, transferable warranty.
