Review: April 12, 2026Completion: May 30, 2016

We had our roofed replaced by Interlock Roofing in 2016. One of the best decisions we’ve ever made! Our roof looks like slate shingles but is entirely metal. We e received many compliments on it over the years Recently we had a lot of strong wind and hailstorms and our representative, John Mondeshean, checked in with us to see if we sustained any roof damage. He came out and inspected our roof for us within a day or two. Luckily we didn’t have any damage. I’ve been impressed by this company and their product from day one. John is the consummate professional. Our roof is now 10 years old and I still say it was the best investment! Highly recommend!

Review: April 3, 2025Completion: July 31, 2024

Very heavy investment, but worth every cent! I worked with John and he was very mindful in planning everything out- especially the finer details of what was needed for the house and for the project. His crew was spectacular in their workmanship and friendliness. The only minor issue I had was the scheduling of the project- which is of nobody's fault. Things get done when they get done and those who are waiting, will be happy they waited. Not exaggerating, many customers will be quite pleased with the end result. I'm one of them. Many thanks, John, crew & Interlock!

Not only was the sales process easy, the installation guys were very respectful of my neighbors and my comfort while they were working. Now that it’s done I absolutely love the roof. It’s already made a huge difference in my electric use for cooling the house!

Review: May 8, 2024Completion: April 29, 2024

We are so proud of our new roof. It is so cool looking, it adds a great deal to the curb-appeal of our house. I also appreciate the security of knowing I'll never have to replace it or worry about it in even the strongest winds. I used to lose shingles in strong windstorms. Interlock was easy to work with. The workers were very respectful of my property and were meticulous about clean up after.

Review: November 30, 2023Completion: October 31, 2023

This project has been a roller coaster: First they were doing a good job, then not, then they assured us of the results and things looked good until we questioned something and they completely dropped the ball. They took our money and never followed up. Communication by Allen Gessell seems to be the weak link. He was horrible and ghosted us. It is a HUGE SHAME that what could have been a wonderful situation has become a fearful nightmare!

I'm really excited and pleased with the roof. I love everything about it in terms of color, style, and installation. Everything was done to our utmost satisfaction. Interlock Roofing could have improved the price. The price was expensive. It was a fantastic experience.

The entire team (from sales to installation) was very clear regarding the timeline and next steps for the entire project. The end product looks great and is a vast improvement compared to the appearance of our prior roof. Good clear communication. No issues on my end.

Metal Roofing FAQs for Homeowners in Capron

The following metal roofing FAQs are designed specifically for homeowners in Capron, Illinois. Whether you are building a new home or replacing an existing roof, understanding how roofing materials perform in local weather conditions is essential. From wind and storm protection to fire resistance, hail impact, snow loads, and coastal moisture exposure, Interlock’s Lifetime Aluminum Roofing System is engineered to provide long-term durability, energy efficiency, and peace of mind in Capron.

How does a metal roof handle Capron's snow and ice buildup?

Metal roofs shed snow and ice far more effectively than asphalt because the smooth, slippery surface prevents accumulation and ice dams. Capron receives about 84 cm of snow annually, and Interlock's four-way interlocking aluminum panels are warranted to resist wind gusts up to 120 mph, so the roof stays secure even when snow slides or wind loads shift. You can add snow guards if you want to control where snow falls; the lightweight design (the Slate profile installs at just 0.41 lb/sq ft) means no structural reinforcement is needed, even in heavy snow seasons.

Will freeze-thaw cycles in Boone County damage an aluminum metal roof?

No. Capron experiences roughly 83 freeze-thaw days annually, but aluminum's oxide layer is naturally self-healing—when the surface gets scratched during winter weather, it automatically repairs itself without rusting or degrading. Steel roofing would rust under these conditions; aluminum never will. The Alunar 70% PVDF fluorocarbon coating on both sides of every panel is also warranted for 30 years against chalking and fading, so seasonal temperature swings won't compromise the finish either.

Why can't aluminum roofs rust, and does that matter in Illinois?

Aluminum contains no iron, so chemically it cannot rust. Instead, it develops a microscopic oxide layer that protects the metal underneath and heals itself when scratched. In Capron, where you get about 838 mm of rain per year, that self-healing property means your roof stays intact through wet seasons without the maintenance headaches steel roofing demands. Interlock uses roofing-grade 3105-H24 and 3003-H24 aluminum alloy (ASTM B209), and the Guardian Warranty covers rusting for the original owner's lifetime.

Is a metal roof worth the upfront cost compared to asphalt shingles?

Metal roofing costs more initially, but it's the last roof you'll buy. Asphalt shingles last 15–25 years and end up in landfills; Interlock's aluminum roof carries a lifetime limited, non-prorated warranty for the original owner and remains transferable for 50 years, meaning you recover the investment through decades of zero replacement costs. Factor in that you won't need tear-offs, disposal fees, or maintenance, and the total cost of ownership favors metal substantially over a 40+ year timeline.

Does a metal roof that looks like slate or tile require structural work on my house?

No structural reinforcement is needed. Interlock's Mediterranean Tile profile weighs only about 0.59 lb/sq ft—roughly 96% lighter than real concrete or clay tile—so it installs directly over most existing roofs without any structural modifications. This is a huge advantage in Capron, where upgrading an older home's framing to handle heavy tile would be expensive and disruptive. You get the architectural look of premium materials with the weight of aluminum.

Can a metal roof handle Capron's wind and storm gusts?

Yes. Capron sees typical daily winds around 19 km/h with gusts reaching 100 km/h, and Interlock's four-way interlocking aluminum panels are warranted to resist wind speeds up to 120 mph (193 km/h) when installed to specification. The interlocking design means each panel is mechanically linked to its neighbors, distributing wind loads across the entire roof rather than relying on fasteners alone. That engineering gives you confidence during spring storms and the occasional severe weather event.

Does hail damage a metal roof, and can I get an insurance discount?

Interlock aluminum roofing carries a UL 2218 Class 4 impact rating—the highest available—and the warranty even covers perforation from hailstones up to 1.5 inches. Class 4 impact resistance often qualifies homeowners for insurance premium discounts, so contact your agent to ask. Because aluminum doesn't crack, split, or lose its protective coating under impact the way asphalt does, you're protected from the hail events that plague Illinois roofs. Many insurers recognize this durability and reward it.

How much maintenance does a metal roof really need?

Almost none. Unlike asphalt shingles, which degrade and shed granules, or real wood shake, which splits and rots, aluminum doesn't need annual inspections, treatments, or repairs. The roof is verified CALGreen-compliant for reduced maintenance. About 3,084 sunshine hours and 838 mm of rain hit Capron annually; the Alunar coating handles both UV and moisture without fading or chalking for 30 years. Occasional gutter cleaning is all most homeowners do. That simplicity saves you time and money throughout the roof's lifespan.

Can I get a metal roof that actually looks like slate, cedar shake, or tile?

Yes. Interlock offers five profiles: Slate, Cedar Shingle, Shake, Standing Seam, and Mediterranean Tile. Each is a four-way interlocking aluminum panel with textured, dimensional profiles that replicate traditional materials. You can choose the aesthetic that matches your home's architecture while getting aluminum's durability, lightweight design, and 30-year coating warranty. All profiles are available in multiple colors, and energy-efficient options reflect heat effectively in sunny seasons, so you're not sacrificing performance for appearance.

Is there a local metal roofing installer serving Capron and Boone County?

Yes. Interlock Metal Roofing has served the region since 2001 and specializes in the four-way interlocking aluminum panels described here. The company is familiar with Capron's climate—roughly 120 cm of snow, 83 freeze-thaw days, and wind gusts to 100 km/h—and can ensure proper installation to warranty spec. They can discuss which profile and color suit your home, handle the installation timeline, and connect you with the full Guardian Warranty coverage. Contact them directly for a site assessment and quote.

Is a metal roof a good choice for Capron’s climate?

Yes. Capron averages about 84 cm of snow, 838 mm of rain, roughly 83 freeze–thaw days a year, with peak wind gusts near 100 km/h. Interlock® aluminum roofing is wind-rated to 193+ km/h (120 mph), UL 2218 Class 4 impact-rated and Class A fire-rated, and its four-way interlocking panels shed snow and resist ice dams and freeze–thaw cracking — all backed by a lifetime limited, transferable warranty.
