Review: April 12, 2026Completion: May 30, 2016

We had our roofed replaced by Interlock Roofing in 2016. One of the best decisions we’ve ever made! Our roof looks like slate shingles but is entirely metal. We e received many compliments on it over the years Recently we had a lot of strong wind and hailstorms and our representative, John Mondeshean, checked in with us to see if we sustained any roof damage. He came out and inspected our roof for us within a day or two. Luckily we didn’t have any damage. I’ve been impressed by this company and their product from day one. John is the consummate professional. Our roof is now 10 years old and I still say it was the best investment! Highly recommend!

Review: April 3, 2025Completion: July 31, 2024

Very heavy investment, but worth every cent! I worked with John and he was very mindful in planning everything out- especially the finer details of what was needed for the house and for the project. His crew was spectacular in their workmanship and friendliness. The only minor issue I had was the scheduling of the project- which is of nobody's fault. Things get done when they get done and those who are waiting, will be happy they waited. Not exaggerating, many customers will be quite pleased with the end result. I'm one of them. Many thanks, John, crew & Interlock!

Not only was the sales process easy, the installation guys were very respectful of my neighbors and my comfort while they were working. Now that it’s done I absolutely love the roof. It’s already made a huge difference in my electric use for cooling the house!

Review: May 8, 2024Completion: April 29, 2024

We are so proud of our new roof. It is so cool looking, it adds a great deal to the curb-appeal of our house. I also appreciate the security of knowing I'll never have to replace it or worry about it in even the strongest winds. I used to lose shingles in strong windstorms. Interlock was easy to work with. The workers were very respectful of my property and were meticulous about clean up after.

Review: November 30, 2023Completion: October 31, 2023

This project has been a roller coaster: First they were doing a good job, then not, then they assured us of the results and things looked good until we questioned something and they completely dropped the ball. They took our money and never followed up. Communication by Allen Gessell seems to be the weak link. He was horrible and ghosted us. It is a HUGE SHAME that what could have been a wonderful situation has become a fearful nightmare!

I'm really excited and pleased with the roof. I love everything about it in terms of color, style, and installation. Everything was done to our utmost satisfaction. Interlock Roofing could have improved the price. The price was expensive. It was a fantastic experience.

The entire team (from sales to installation) was very clear regarding the timeline and next steps for the entire project. The end product looks great and is a vast improvement compared to the appearance of our prior roof. Good clear communication. No issues on my end.

Metal Roofing FAQs for Homeowners in Bonus Township

The following metal roofing FAQs are designed specifically for homeowners in Bonus Township, Illinois. Whether you are building a new home or replacing an existing roof, understanding how roofing materials perform in local weather conditions is essential. From wind and storm protection to fire resistance, hail impact, snow loads, and coastal moisture exposure, Interlock’s Lifetime Aluminum Roofing System is engineered to provide long-term durability, energy efficiency, and peace of mind in Bonus Township.

Does a metal roof handle Bonus Township's heavy snow and freeze-thaw cycles?

Yes—Interlock's aluminum panels shed snow and ice far more effectively than asphalt. With about 81 cm of snow falling annually in this region and roughly 85 freeze-thaw days per year, the smooth, slippery metal surface prevents ice damming and reduces the freeze-thaw stress that cracks traditional shingles. The four-way interlocking design also resists uplift from wind gusts reaching 97 km/h, so snow loads stay secure. Aluminum's oxide layer won't degrade under repeated moisture cycles the way asphalt does.

Can aluminum metal roofing rust in a cold climate with snow melt and rain?

No. Aluminum cannot rust because it contains no iron. When exposed to moisture, aluminum forms a self-healing oxide layer that protects the metal beneath—even when scratched. The roofing-grade 3105-H24 and 3003-H24 alloy (ASTM B209) paired with a 30-year-warranted Alunar 70% PVDF coating on both panel sides ensures durability through Bonus Township's 863 mm annual rainfall and wet freeze-thaw cycles. This dual protection is especially critical here, where freeze-thaw days number about 85 per year.

Is a metal roof too heavy to install on an older home in Bonus Township?

The opposite. Interlock panels weigh extraordinarily little—the Shake profile installs at just 0.58 lb/sq ft, and the Mediterranean Tile at 0.59 lb/sq ft, making it about 96% lighter than concrete or clay tile. This light weight means no structural reinforcement is required; the roof installs directly over most existing structures and existing roofs, saving time and expense. With about 81 cm of seasonal snow load expected here, the aluminum panels distribute weight far more efficiently than traditional tile, protecting your home's framing while lasting decades.

Will metal roofing stay secure during Bonus Township's wind and gust events?

Yes. The four-way interlocking aluminum panels are warranted to resist wind speeds up to 120 mph (193 km/h) when installed to specification. Bonus Township's typical gusts reach about 97 km/h, well within that range. The interlocking design locks each panel to its neighbors horizontally and vertically, creating a unified structure that resists uplift far better than fastened shingles. This engineering means your roof remains secure through the seasonal wind events typical of Boone County.

Does Interlock metal roofing qualify for hail damage insurance coverage?

Yes. Interlock panels carry a UL 2218 Class 4 impact rating—the highest available—and the Guardian Warranty explicitly covers hail perforation up to 1.5 inches. Class 4 rating meets or exceeds the impact thresholds that trigger insurance premium reductions in hail-prone regions. When you pair non-combustible aluminum construction with Class A fire rating availability and documented impact resistance, many insurers recognize the reduced claim risk. Check with your agent about potential discounts for upgrading to a roof rated this high.

How does metal roofing perform through repeated freeze-thaw cycles?

Metal roofing excels in freeze-thaw environments. Aluminum expands and contracts uniformly with temperature swings, and its oxide layer doesn't crack or degrade as asphalt does. At 85 freeze-thaw days per year in Bonus Township, this durability compounds over decades. Traditional shingles absorb moisture, freeze, crack, and curl—each cycle accelerating failure. The roofing-grade aluminum alloy with its 30-year Alunar coating resists this moisture-driven deterioration. The Guardian Warranty covers cracking, curling, and loss of impact resistance over the roof's life, meaning freeze-thaw cycles won't trigger claims.

What maintenance does an Interlock metal roof require in Bonus Township?

Virtually none compared to asphalt, wood, or tile. The aluminum panels don't rot, split, curl, or lose granules like shingles do through rain and snow cycles. With about 863 mm of annual rainfall and roughly 81 cm of snow, traditional roofs demand regular inspection, repair, and replacement of damaged sections. Interlock's CALGreen-verified design eliminates the maintenance burden. Periodic gutter cleaning and inspection of flashing are standard for any roof, but the panels themselves require no treatment, sealing, or repair—saving you money and time over the roof's lifetime.

What warranty protection comes with Interlock metal roofing?

The Guardian Warranty provides a lifetime limited, non-prorated material warranty for the original owner against rusting, rotting, splitting, cracking, curling, and loss of impact resistance. The warranty transfers once to the next owner for a 50-year term from completion, boosting resale appeal. This coverage reflects the durability of roofing-grade aluminum (ASTM B209) paired with the 30-year Alunar fluorocarbon coating. Unlike asphalt shingles that degrade through Bonus Township's 85 annual freeze-thaw cycles and 3,079 sunshine hours, aluminum doesn't deteriorate—the warranty simply acknowledges that reality.

Can Interlock metal roofing install over my existing roof without removal?

Yes. Because Interlock panels weigh only 0.58–0.59 lb/sq ft (depending on profile), they install directly over most existing roofs without removal or structural reinforcement. This saves thousands in tear-off labor and landfill fees while compressing installation time. The local installer, serving the region since 2001, manages the installation process efficiently. The lightweight design works especially well in Bonus Township's climate, where about 81 cm of seasonal snow load is distributed safely across the existing structure. The process typically completes faster than tear-off-and-replace, getting you into a permanent roof sooner.

Is metal roofing more sustainable than asphalt shingles?

Interlock aluminum roofing breaks the cycle of asphalt shingles destined for landfills. The panels are approximately 95% recyclable at end-of-life, and the material itself lasts 50+ years, eliminating the tear-off every 20–25 years that plagues asphalt roofs. In Bonus Township's climate of about 863 mm rain, 81 cm snow, and 85 freeze-thaw days annually, asphalt deteriorates faster, meaning more frequent landfill waste. Aluminum doesn't rot, split, or crack under these cycles—it simply lasts and recycles. Choosing Interlock means your roof won't become landfill waste and your home won't need replacement roofs for generations.

Is a metal roof a good choice for Bonus Township’s climate?

Yes. Bonus Township averages about 81 cm of snow, 863 mm of rain, roughly 85 freeze–thaw days a year, with peak wind gusts near 97 km/h. Interlock® aluminum roofing is wind-rated to 193+ km/h (120 mph), UL 2218 Class 4 impact-rated and Class A fire-rated, and its four-way interlocking panels shed snow and resist ice dams and freeze–thaw cracking — all backed by a lifetime limited, transferable warranty.
