Review: April 12, 2026Completion: May 30, 2016

We had our roofed replaced by Interlock Roofing in 2016. One of the best decisions we’ve ever made! Our roof looks like slate shingles but is entirely metal. We e received many compliments on it over the years Recently we had a lot of strong wind and hailstorms and our representative, John Mondeshean, checked in with us to see if we sustained any roof damage. He came out and inspected our roof for us within a day or two. Luckily we didn’t have any damage. I’ve been impressed by this company and their product from day one. John is the consummate professional. Our roof is now 10 years old and I still say it was the best investment! Highly recommend!

Very heavy investment, but worth every cent! I worked with John and he was very mindful in planning everything out- especially the finer details of what was needed for the house and for the project. His crew was spectacular in their workmanship and friendliness. The only minor issue I had was the scheduling of the project- which is of nobody's fault. Things get done when they get done and those who are waiting, will be happy they waited. Not exaggerating, many customers will be quite pleased with the end result. I'm one of them. Many thanks, John, crew & Interlock!

Not only was the sales process easy, the installation guys were very respectful of my neighbors and my comfort while they were working. Now that it’s done I absolutely love the roof. It’s already made a huge difference in my electric use for cooling the house!

Review: May 8, 2024Completion: April 29, 2024

We are so proud of our new roof. It is so cool looking, it adds a great deal to the curb-appeal of our house. I also appreciate the security of knowing I'll never have to replace it or worry about it in even the strongest winds. I used to lose shingles in strong windstorms. Interlock was easy to work with. The workers were very respectful of my property and were meticulous about clean up after.

Review: November 30, 2023Completion: October 31, 2023

This project has been a roller coaster: First they were doing a good job, then not, then they assured us of the results and things looked good until we questioned something and they completely dropped the ball. They took our money and never followed up. Communication by Allen Gessell seems to be the weak link. He was horrible and ghosted us. It is a HUGE SHAME that what could have been a wonderful situation has become a fearful nightmare!

I'm really excited and pleased with the roof. I love everything about it in terms of color, style, and installation. Everything was done to our utmost satisfaction. Interlock Roofing could have improved the price. The price was expensive. It was a fantastic experience.

The entire team (from sales to installation) was very clear regarding the timeline and next steps for the entire project. The end product looks great and is a vast improvement compared to the appearance of our prior roof. Good clear communication. No issues on my end.

Metal Roofing FAQs for Homeowners in Manchester Township

The following metal roofing FAQs are designed specifically for homeowners in Manchester Township, Illinois. Whether you are building a new home or replacing an existing roof, understanding how roofing materials perform in local weather conditions is essential. From wind and storm protection to fire resistance, hail impact, snow loads, and coastal moisture exposure, Interlock’s Lifetime Aluminum Roofing System is engineered to provide long-term durability, energy efficiency, and peace of mind in Manchester Township.

How does a metal roof handle the snow and ice we get in Manchester Township winters?

Interlock panels shed snow and ice effectively because aluminum's smooth surface and four-way interlocking design prevent water pooling and ice dam formation. Your area averages about 81 cm of snow annually with roughly 85 freeze-thaw cycles per year—exactly the conditions that split asphalt and wood shakes. The panels' light weight (the Slate profile at 0.41 lb/sq ft) means no structural strain even with snow load, and optional snow guards can be installed to control shedding where you need it. The metal won't degrade from repeated freezing and thawing because aluminum oxide naturally heals surface damage.

Why don't Interlock metal roofs rust like I've heard steel roofs can?

Interlock uses roofing-grade 3105-H24 and 3003-H24 aluminum alloy, which contains no iron—the element that causes rust. Steel corrodes when iron oxidizes; aluminum instead forms a microscopically thin oxide layer that seals itself and self-heals if scratched. Combined with the two-sided Alunar 70% PVDF coating (30-year warranty against fading), your roof resists the roughly 863 mm of annual rainfall and 19 km/h average winds Manchester Township sees. The factory even applies the fluorocarbon finish to the underside, an extra buffer for salt air or corrosive moisture exposure.

Does a metal roof hold up to hail, and could it lower my insurance?

Interlock panels carry UL 2218 Class 4, the highest impact rating available, and the warranty covers hail perforation from stones up to 1.5 inches. The four-way interlocking aluminum design distributes impact across multiple panels instead of concentrating it in one spot. Many insurers offer discounts for Class 4-rated roofing because claims are rare. Manchester Township gusts reach 97 km/h, and hail often accompanies severe wind; metal's proven durability and non-combustibility reduce risk from both. Contact your insurer with the ICC-ES ESR-1790 report and UL listing to request a premium review.

Is it true a metal roof won't require me to reinforce my house framing?

Correct. The Mediterranean Tile profile weighs only 0.59 lb/sq ft—about 96% lighter than concrete or clay tile—so no structural reinforcement is needed, even over older homes. Interlock panels install directly over most existing roofs because of this minimal weight. Traditional tile or slate can demand expensive roof truss upgrades costing thousands; aluminum delivers the same visual profile without that cost or construction disruption. Manchester Township homeowners with older homes can achieve high-end aesthetics without engineering assessments or adding support beams.

What exactly does the Interlock warranty cover, and how long does it last?

The Guardian Warranty is a lifetime limited, non-prorated material warranty for you as the original owner, covering rusting, rotting, splitting, cracking, curling, and loss of impact resistance—the failures that typically end a roof's life. It's transferable once to the next owner with 50 years of coverage remaining from completion date, adding serious resale appeal. The Alunar coating itself carries a separate 30-year guarantee against chalking and fading per ASTM D4214 and D2244. In a climate like Manchester Township's with 85 annual freeze-thaw cycles, this coverage means you're protected from material degradation for your lifetime and into the next generation's ownership.

Can a metal roof really withstand the wind gusts we get here?

Yes. Interlock panels are warranted to resist wind speeds up to 120 mph when installed to specification, and they handle Manchester Township's typical gusts of 97 km/h (60 mph) with ease. The four-way interlocking design means each panel locks to its neighbors on all four edges, distributing wind uplift across the entire roof system rather than stressing individual fasteners. Unlike asphalt shingles, which can lift and tear under sustained pressure, metal panels stay flat and bonded. The ICC-ES ESR-1790 evaluation confirms this performance under IBC/IRC building codes, so your installation meets or exceeds municipal wind-load requirements.

How long does installation take, and can you install over my existing roof?

Most residential roofing jobs complete in 2–5 days depending on roof size and complexity. Because Interlock panels weigh so little (Slate at 0.41 lb/sq ft), installation often happens over an existing roof—no expensive tear-off, no landfill haul, no weeks of exposure. Your home stays protected during the work. The installer fastens panels to solid decking and applies underlayment for moisture and sound control, creating the same rain-quiet experience as asphalt. Interlock Metal Roofing has served this region since 2001 and can walk you through timeline, site prep, and any roof-reinforcement questions specific to your home.

How much maintenance does a metal roof actually need versus asphalt or tile?

Interlock metal roofs are CALGreen-verified for reduced maintenance. You won't replace rotting shingles every few years like asphalt, or worry about slate and tile cracking from freeze-thaw cycling (Manchester Township experiences about 85 such cycles annually). Simple occasional inspection and gutter cleaning are sufficient. Asphalt deteriorates in sunlight and curls in freeze-thaw; wood shakes rot and split; tile cracks and leaks. Aluminum doesn't degrade chemically, doesn't absorb water, and its oxide layer self-repairs minor scratches. Over 50 years, you'll spend far less on repairs, replacements, and maintenance labor than with traditional materials.

Do the lighter colors really reduce cooling costs in summer?

Yes. Interlock's energy-efficient colors achieve thermal emissivity of 0.84 and initial solar reflectance up to 0.55 (in Aged Copper Penny and other light finishes), meaning they reflect heat that dark asphalt absorbs and re-radiates into your home. Manchester Township gets about 3,079 sunshine hours per year, so summer cooling savings add up month to month. The Cool Roof Rating Council rating confirms measurable energy performance. A reflective metal roof can reduce attic temperature by 20–30°F compared to asphalt, lowering air-conditioning run-time and utility bills, especially on south and west-facing slopes. Combined with the 30-year Alunar coating warranty, the reflectivity stays effective for decades.

Is a metal roof fire-safe, and does that matter for insurance?

Aluminum is non-combustible and carries Class A fire classification (the highest rating available), so it won't ignite or contribute to flame spread. The ICC-ES ESR-1790 report confirms this performance under building code standards. Many insurance carriers offer modest premium reductions for non-combustible roofing because the risk of fire loss is eliminated. Interlock's two-sided Alunar 70% PVDF coating and solid aluminum construction mean no wood shakes to catch embers and no organic materials to fuel fire. While Manchester Township's annual rainfall (863 mm) and 81 cm snow make wildfire less likely than in dry regions, non-combustibility is still a valuable safety feature and can positively influence underwriting decisions.

Is a metal roof a good choice for Manchester Township’s climate?

Yes. Manchester Township averages about 81 cm of snow, 863 mm of rain, roughly 85 freeze–thaw days a year, with peak wind gusts near 97 km/h. Interlock® aluminum roofing is wind-rated to 193+ km/h (120 mph), UL 2218 Class 4 impact-rated and Class A fire-rated, and its four-way interlocking panels shed snow and resist ice dams and freeze–thaw cracking — all backed by a lifetime limited, transferable warranty.
