Review: February 26, 2019Completion: January 19, 2019

Communication. I was told a crew would come the 2nd week of Jan. & there was no return of my phone calls or an email when they didn't show up then. All of a sudden one day a crew showed up unannounced & were going to Aberdeen to pick up the materials & come back to start the job-- I think this was a couple of weeks later. I cleaned up all the garbage left as the crew had no room to take it with them--they were great guys & very nice & efficient, but I took care of disposal of any bits & pieces of metal as well as a lot of paper stuff that I burnt. We have hired Interlock for numerous "roofs" on our farm over the years & even though the product is very expensive, it is a quality product. Most all of our farm buildings as well as both homes on our farm have Interlock roofs & anyone that visits & asks about the matching roofs, we explain Interlock products to them. Our repeated use of Interlock is quite a picture testimony of various shapes & sizes of Interlock roofing projects from an old 1880's Victorian Farmhouse to our small water pump house!!!

Metal Roofing FAQs for Homeowners in Venice

The following metal roofing FAQs are designed specifically for homeowners in Venice, Washington. Whether you are building a new home or replacing an existing roof, understanding how roofing materials perform in local weather conditions is essential. From wind and storm protection to fire resistance, hail impact, snow loads, and coastal moisture exposure, Interlock’s Lifetime Aluminum Roofing System is engineered to provide long-term durability, energy efficiency, and peace of mind in Venice.

How does a metal roof handle Venice's snow and ice buildup?

Venice receives about 33 cm of snow annually, and the smooth aluminum surface of Interlock panels sheds snow and ice far more effectively than asphalt shingles, which trap moisture and freeze in place. The four-way interlocking design prevents water infiltration even during the region's approximately 21 freeze-thaw cycles per year, when ice expands and contracts. Optional snow guards can be installed to control slide-off if desired, protecting landscaping and pathways below.

With 1,280 mm of annual rainfall in Venice, will a metal roof leak?

No—the overlapping four-way interlocking panels are engineered to shed water downward and outward; water cannot travel backward or sideways into the seams. Venice's heavy rainfall (about 1,280 mm yearly) is precisely why aluminum's non-absorbent surface and sealed panel geometry work: water runs off immediately rather than soaking into asphalt fibers or wood. Proper installation over an underlayment (which installs over your existing roof) ensures complete protection and is verified under ICC-ES ESR-1790 code evaluation.

Why doesn't an aluminum roof rust in Venice's wet climate?

Aluminum cannot rust because it contains no iron; instead, a self-healing oxide layer forms instantly when exposed to air. Steel roofs corrode in salt air and high-moisture climates like Pacific County's, but Interlock aluminum is coated with Alunar 70% PVDF fluorocarbon finish on both sides—extra insurance against Venice's moisture and salt-laden wind gusts reaching 101 km/h. That coating carries a 30-year warranty against fading and chalking, protecting your investment through decades of Pacific Northwest weather.

Can a metal roof survive Venice's winter wind gusts?

Yes—Interlock's four-way interlocking aluminum panels are warranted to resist wind speeds up to 120 mph (193 km/h) when installed to specification. Venice's typical gusts reach 101 km/h with seasonal variability, well within that safety margin. The mechanical interlock between panels (not nails or adhesive alone) distributes wind load across the entire roof plane, so each panel reinforces its neighbors. This design has proven itself from coastal British Columbia to Antarctic research stations.

Do I need to reinforce my house structure for a metal roof?

No structural reinforcement is needed. Interlock metal roofing is extraordinarily light: the Slate profile installs at just 0.41 lb/sq ft, and the Mediterranean Tile—which replicates heavy ceramic tile—weighs only about 0.59 lb/sq ft, roughly 96% lighter than actual tile or concrete. Most homes in Venice can support a metal roof retrofit directly over the existing shingles, which means lower installation cost and no walls being opened or beams being added. Your home's framing was already designed for live loads far exceeding metal roofing weight.

Will a metal roof help lower cooling costs in summer?

energy-efficient Interlock colors reflect heat rather than absorb it, with initial solar reflectance up to 0.55 and thermal emissivity of 0.84—meaning they bounce sunlight away instead of turning it into attic heat like asphalt does. Venice's approximately 2,931 annual sunshine hours add up; every reflective surface day compounds savings. Cool Roof Rating Council rating confirms measurable performance. On a 2,000 sq ft home, the difference in attic temperature can easily reach 10–15°F on sunny days, reducing air-conditioning load and extending its lifespan.

Does hail damage a metal roof, and can I get insurance credits?

Interlock metal roofing carries UL 2218 Class 4 impact rating—the highest available—and the Guardian Warranty even covers perforation from hailstones up to 1.5 inches. While Venice's weather patterns don't emphasize severe hail, the Class 4 rating is defensible to insurers and may qualify you for wind/impact discounts depending on your policy and carrier. Contact your insurance agent with the product specifications; many recognize the durability advantage and adjust premiums accordingly.

What's the real warranty on an Interlock metal roof?

The Guardian Warranty is a lifetime limited, non-prorated material warranty for the original owner—covering rust, rot, splitting, cracking, curling, and loss of impact resistance. It's also one-time transferable to the next owner, who receives 50 years of coverage from completion date. No other roofing material in Venice matches this pledge: asphalt typically fails in 15–20 years in the Pacific Northwest's moisture and freeze-thaw cycles, while Interlock's aluminum and 30-year fluorocarbon coating are built to outlast the house itself.

How much maintenance does a metal roof really need?

Aluminum roofs require virtually no maintenance: no moss or algae growth (unlike asphalt in wet climates), no shingle replacement, no wood treatment. Venice's 1,280 mm annual rainfall and 21 freeze-thaw days accelerate decay in asphalt and wood shake, but aluminum is immune. A simple rinse every few years (or let the rain do it) keeps it looking new. Interlock is CALGreen-verified for reduced maintenance, meaning lower long-term costs and zero environmental impact from chemical treatments or tear-offs.

Who installs Interlock metal roofing in Venice, Washington?

Interlock Metal Roofing (PNW) Inc. has served the Pacific County region since 1997 and specializes in these four-way interlocking aluminum systems. They handle site assessment, structural evaluation, installation over existing roofs, and warranty claims. Currently, they're offering no payments and no interest until Spring 2027, or 10% off installation—financing options that make the switch from asphalt or tile more accessible. Call to schedule a site visit and estimate tailored to your home's profile and Venice's specific conditions.

Is a metal roof a good choice for Venice’s climate?

Yes. Venice averages about 33 cm of snow, 1280 mm of rain, roughly 21 freeze–thaw days a year, with peak wind gusts near 101 km/h. Interlock® aluminum roofing is wind-rated to 193+ km/h (120 mph), UL 2218 Class 4 impact-rated and Class A fire-rated, and its four-way interlocking panels shed snow and resist ice dams and freeze–thaw cracking — all backed by a lifetime limited, transferable warranty.
